Yes, 16GB is adequate for normal mainstream usage. It is not necessary for the Optane memory and RAM to be of the same memory capacity. The higher capacity Optane modules are necessary for power users who often use a variety of data-intensive applications, such as prosumers and gamers. Another difference would be features and capabilities. Modules that are at least 32GB provide support for Pinning (selecting specific files, folders, and applications to accelerate). Your motherboard supports it. Keep in mind that Intel Optane Memory is compatible with SATA boot drives for Windows 10 only. If you are booting from Intel SSD 600p, the configuration won’t work.
Moreover, please review your motherboard manual in order to verify if there's enough bandwidth available to use both of the M.2 ports and all his SATA drives simultaneously (M.2 ports share bandwidth with SATA ports: intel.ly/2CQFSrO).

don't install until your primary drive is formatted and your OS is configured or it'll recognize it as a drive and not as a optane, then go back and install the module and configure it in the bios

I am buying a premade pc with 16GB optane memory preinstalled and a 1 TB HDD. If I add a SDD and migrate windows/boot to the SDD do I need to do anything to make the optane continue to accelerate the old HDD that I plan to use for media and game file storage?

I have an HP Intel i5 10th gen with 32GB optane. The thing runs constantly, sounds like a jet engine, and uses 28-35% of my CPU on the task manager. When I ran a temperature check the core was close to 42Celsius! I am only using drive or word applications, no gaming. I use the task manager to turn it off but each new application I run re enables it and I’m back to sounding like a 747 taking off. I am NOT a computer person so I have no clue what to do to now?

The sound that you hear while launching an application is the sound of your laptops fan, ramping up to keep your device cool and optimized. Intel Optane Memory and Storage Management app I can see both of my SSD drive and Optane drive being enabled (status:normal, usage:avaible) ... but in optane tab its shows that my memory is disabled. Intel Optane memory cannot accelerate a RAID volume. However, an Intel Optane memory volume can reside in the same system as a RAID volume. The operating system must be on the SATA drive accelerated by Intel Optane memory. Please note that in a system with this configuration, we recommend using the Intel RST application to manage your RAID volume and Intel Optane memory volume.

intel, what are you doing, i did some research and when i saw that it takes more moneys to do a proccesor than it takes to make a boeing plane, i understand a bit why you r products are so expensive you re right, looking at the size of the Ryzen epic it looks like 4 CPU s sticked togheter, but cmoon intel u can do better than that, the thing you pun under the metal thing that touches the processor, you can use some quality stuff. you re intel, dont mind the AMD fanboys that tells you bad things, they seem to forgot all thoose years when intel was the boss, and still is in terms of performance, you made a mistake, who dosent? just get back up soon, and show them you are still the boss.
Use caution with Optane!!!!!! It is not recommended to pair Optane with an SSD. It may improve the read speeds, but it will obliterate the write speeds by 60%. It is suggested to use it for platter storage devices, literally literally just that... Another issue is that startup repair no longer works because Optane is basically a "soft-RAID" (striping config), so when you go into maintenance modes (live CD or recovery partition), the startup repair feature will not have the ability to see the array and be unable to repair any startup issues. You won't be able to manually repair the boot loader either, since it is in an inaccessible array. This is RAID 0, a very risky setup where you sacrifice security for performance (security as in being able to fix any problems). If you have a 32GB Optane (they usually come with some mobos), either leave it out, use it only with platter drives, or take the chance and enable it with your Win10 installation. I found programs loaded the same speed with/without it. Alternatively, you can use it as a Win7 boot drive, which is what I did, ie use it as an NVME drive.
What are you talking about? Optane is absolutely not RAID 0. It's a cache drive. Think of it as NVRAM (which devices like routers, remote controls, and other embedded devices have used for decades). No data is stored ONLY on the Optane memory module. Instead, a COPY is stored for faster retrieval of commonly accessed files (especially small files). I don't normally reply to this kind of stuff, but this comment is just all kinds of wrong.

The drive has a top. It depends on the M.2 position. Just like Ram is only one way because of the whole in the Ram.

Your motherboard supports it. Keep in mind that Intel Optane Memory is compatible with SATA boot drives for Windows 10 only. If you are booting from Intel SSD 600p, the configuration won’t work.
Moreover, please review your motherboard manual in order to verify if there's enough bandwidth available to use both of the M.2 ports and all his SATA drives simultaneously (M.2 ports share bandwidth with SATA ports: intel.ly/2CQFSrO).

don't install until your primary drive is formatted and your OS is configured or it'll recognize it as a drive and not as a optane, then go back and install the module and configure it in the bios

I am buying a premade pc with 16GB optane memory preinstalled and a 1 TB HDD. If I add a SDD and migrate windows/boot to the SDD do I need to do anything to make the optane continue to accelerate the old HDD that I plan to use for media and game file storage?

Maybe it is already enabled and you don't know how to see it? I bought and asus laptop with optane enabled, I decided to install windows 10 again to get rid of all the asus crap, and is working like a champ!

I have an HP Intel i5 10th gen with 32GB optane. The thing runs constantly, sounds like a jet engine, and uses 28-35% of my CPU on the task manager. When I ran a temperature check the core was close to 42Celsius! I am only using drive or word applications, no gaming.
I use the task manager to turn it off but each new application I run re enables it and I’m back to sounding like a 747 taking off.
I am NOT a computer person so I have no clue what to do to now?

I can see both of my SSD drive and Optane drive being enabled (status:normal, usage:avaible)

Intel Optane memory cannot accelerate a RAID volume. However, an Intel Optane memory volume can reside in the same system as a RAID volume. The operating system must be on the SATA drive accelerated by Intel Optane memory. Please note that in a system with this configuration, we recommend using the Intel RST application to manage your RAID volume and Intel Optane memory volume.

Use caution with Optane!!!!!! It is not recommended to pair Optane with an SSD. It may improve the read speeds, but it will obliterate the write speeds by 60%. It is suggested to use it for platter storage devices, literally literally just that... Another issue is that startup repair no longer works because Optane is basically a "soft-RAID" (striping config), so when you go into maintenance modes (live CD or recovery partition), the startup repair feature will not have the ability to see the array and be unable to repair any startup issues. You won't be able to manually repair the boot loader either, since it is in an inaccessible array. This is RAID 0, a very risky setup where you sacrifice security for performance (security as in being able to fix any problems). If you have a 32GB Optane (they usually come with some mobos), either leave it out, use it only with platter drives, or take the chance and enable it with your Win10 installation. I found programs loaded the same speed with/without it. Alternatively, you can use it as a Win7 boot drive, which is what I did, ie use it as an NVME drive.
What are you talking about? Optane is absolutely not RAID 0. It's a cache drive. Think of it as NVRAM (which devices like routers, remote controls, and other embedded devices have used for decades). No data is stored ONLY on the Optane memory module. Instead, a COPY is stored for faster retrieval of commonly accessed files (especially small files).
I don't normally reply to this kind of stuff, but this comment is just all kinds of wrong.
