Great idea! I've recently been enjoying your paper jewelry videos. Since being laid off because of the pandemic, I don't wish to spend $$ on jewelry findings, so discovering your low cost ideas I'm able to make gifts for family that look good! Thank you for that!
Well that's great to hear Robin! I have been trying to post videos that people can make with things around the house, so they don't need any specific supplies! Glad you are finding the video helpful! Stay safe! Kind regards, Emi
Can't wait to make these and some of your other jewelry crafts with my granddaughters. Right now, I am crocheting one of your poncho patterns for my daughter. She chose yours over several. In between, I made your pineapple/coconut loaf...delicious! Thanks Emi !
This is a perfect craft to do with the seniors that live in the assisted living home that my mother is in. I can't wait to take it up and let them have fun. Skill level and hand coordination are perfect for them. I have lots of fabric they can choose from. people could even use these to make small charms for a bracelet or necklace.
Genius! I’ve been searching for a way to harden fabric without resorting to expensive, time consuming methods such as epoxy resin. I had no idea simple school glue could do the trick. Thanks.
Emi , you are awesome. I get so tickled at how easy you make it seem and it is kind of depending on the objects and materials at hand. But I just continue to shake my head at your talents because your imagination is Wild! Keep up the good work.
Yes, I am a big fan of both. What a coincidence - I just finished watching some of Lindsay's videos. As my Mom would say, "great minds run the same channel."
Emi - I love your videos - you always inspire me to be more creative! The earrings are beautiful! I absolutely love them! I appreciate all of your videos, Thank you so much, keep up the good work.
+catherine strong Fabric beads are very durable,,, thanks for watching my videos Catherine! And for commenting, I love comments! It lets me know there are people out there in viewer land!
Brilliant video and you made it look so easy and I am sure going to give it ago myself. Thank you for sharing you have such a talent and you made it clear for me to follow thank you again xx
These are great and so individual, you will always know that no one else will be wearing the same earrings as you, unlike high street bought ones.Would Aileens tacky glue or mod podge work like the Elmers in making the fabric stiff? Thanks for sharing Emi,I really enjoy your tutorials .
Great tip about hardening the fabric with glue. Does this work with felt? I tried making some jewellery from felt a while ago but it was too limp, even after stitching several layers together. :/
What a wonderful idea!! I have batman fabric that I can use to make earrings for my daughter. Can you make a necklace the same way? I know I'd have to do a chain for it, but I'm thinking about making a set. If making a necklace is as easy as the earrings :)
+shelly praska Yes, you can make a necklace... you can either hang them upright as in earrings, and put them on a cord, or you can string the cord through each bead, with a purchased round bead between each fabric bead.
I know this video was posted a while ago, but I just found it and tried it using t-shirt knit. My fabric is still soft and flexible. Is there something more that I need to do to make it stiff??
Hi there V. If you coated them with clear white glue, perhaps the glue is not curing (dampness usually), so you could heat them up with a hair dryer, then let them cook, that might work,,, or add another layer of glue, and use the hair dryer, or place in a very low heat toaster oven for about 5 minutes.... or coat them with clear nailpolish. Hopefully some of that helps! Kind regards, Emi
I have never used clear... not sure how it would work...I usually use the white glue... maybe the clear is more of a gel, I really don't know as I have no experience with it. I would try heating it up... if there are no wires attached yet, microwave for 30 seconds, then let them cool down. Maybe the glue needs to cure, and that would do it. I often microwave my crafts.
It's been about 12 hours so I'll try the microwave trick. If that doesn't work I'll get the white glue. I'll be working with a group of 8 - 12 year olds for the first time next week and I thought it might be fun for them to create and bead their own bookmarks for back to school. Thanks, Emi.
That's a great idea to do with the bookmarks! Good thinking... and yes, I guess the white glue would be your best bet for the kids, as it will definitely dry hard.
I bout a baggie worth of fabric, couple of yrs before mom moved on, and she asked me why i bought a bag of fabric scraps. Now I know what they're for! lol

Skill level and hand coordination are perfect for them. I have lots of fabric they can choose from. They could even use these to make small charms for a bracelet or necklace.
+Pam Pirtle You are right!!! You could bring sheets of stiffened fabric, and they could draw their design and cut them out!! It would be a clean, tidy craft... they could use them for bookmarks too... especially the feather, just cut it out larger... or just cut a rectangle, and draw designs on it, add some yarn and a tassel, and they would have their own bookmark!!
+Hectanooga1 - Crochet, Knitting, Jewelry, Crafts, Cooking Making bookmarks would be perfect because many of them spend a lot of time reading. Good ideas. Thank you so much.

You are a creative genius Emi. I love your ideas. I'm definitely trying them. Thanks
+Nadine Briggs Thanks Nadine!! They are very lightweight, so this technique lends itself to making very large earrings, (or pendants of course).
Emi , you are awesome. I get so tickled at how easy you make it seem and it is kind of depending on the objects and materials at hand. But I just continue to shake my head at your talents because your imagination is Wild! Keep up the good work.
This was a great video. I did not know that you could make fabric stiff with just white glue.
my granddaughter is going to love making these with me.. AWESOME IDEAS.. THANKS
great idea love them , will be making these for the girls for Christmas this year.
What an absolute fab idea!
You could embroider with beads before stiffening too.
Yes, I love it when my viewers put a spin on my ideas!!
Used this technique to make "back to school" book marks with my after school program kids. It worked beautifully!
I have lots of scraps to use. Brilliant idea.
I can dry it in the microwave? I am so going to try that!
+thefrugalcrafter Lindsay Weirich Oh, if you only knew what I use my microwave for... more for crafting than anything else... lol!
OMG!!! My 2 favorite crafters right here in one spot at the same time. You two should hook up and do a video together, it would be amazing :)
+Elizabeth G I thought the same thing! I was watching another video here and wondered if Lindsay knew about this channel! ha ha...small world!
Yes, I am a big fan of both. What a coincidence - I just finished watching some of Lindsay's videos. As my Mom would say, "great minds run the same channel."
Thank you for this new video Emi! These earrings are all cute, but my favorite ones are the feather ones with beads.

+Elaine White Yes, Mod Podge does not get a hard as Elmer's but they will both work.
Thanks Emi,I will try to get the Elmers,I am in the UK so may have to get it from Ebay.
+Elaine White I think any white school glue that dries clear will work. You could always try it on a scrap of fabric, see how hard it dries.
Thank you I will try that .xx
These are very nice. Could you use fusible fabric instead of glue to get the same thickness and stiffness?
I like your ideas! Short and beautiful !!! Thank you ! 💗
Thanks Petra!
good job thumbs up ....thanx 4 shearing
I Love Them! So Simple to Do ... "Thank You So Much!"
I love your idea, the feathers show very nice, I have to try!!!!!
+Migdalia Rodriguez Thanks Migdalia!
You rock Em. These are cool!
+Debbie M. Thanks Debbie!!
Could you use fabric starch to thicken the material
You could, but it would not be permanent,,, if they got wet, it would likely wash off, maybe onto your clothing.
Beautiful idea!
+Shari Rivera Thank you Shari!
Awesome!!! Thanks Emi
+Indy Purl Thanks for commenting Indy!!!
Oh wow thats great job in HD lovely
Great tip about hardening the fabric with glue. Does this work with felt? I tried making some jewellery from felt a while ago but it was too limp, even after stitching several layers together. :/
+Arlene McGinness --Yes, if you saturate the felt with glue, it will harden.
beautiful whats the name of the white fabric that you can write on ?
Hi Angela! broadcloth

Hey, I really love your project. Can I use canvas fabric to make these earrings? Is it will stiff if I use the white glue on the canvas? Thanks
Beautiful
Great idea, I've been trying to figure out how to make earrings using team logo's. I will try this method. Thanks for sharing.
