- In this video I explain the 12v electrical setup in my 4WD. It's a basic setup I designed to run my fridge, charge devices and power some camp lights etc and with the addition of a solar panel can be left to run indefinitely. The main components are:
Ctek D250SA charger
55AH deep cycle AGM battery
XTM battery box
110W fixed solar panel
And my fridge is a Dometic Waeco 50L

THANKS FOR WATCHING!
Cracking rig I’m running a 90 for full time trying Australia I love it
Timely video as currently (no pun intended) I am at the very early stages of how to power a fridge in similar circumstances. Thanks.
Haha perfect!
Great video! I found your explanation easy to understand. Thank you for this fantastic upload!
Thank you
Great video mate very helpful. You have a great shape head stop fighting it.
Actually laughed out loud, thanks mate 👍🏻 glad you liked the video
thank you for this great video , very informative
You’re welcome mate 👍🏻
Love your vids, but a big Question looking back at your Toyota Van Conversion how did you insure it as most ( if not all insurance companies) will not insure your van unless it is professionally converted) how did you get atound that , cheers and keep these vids comin' very informative and inspirational
Great video and info. Thanks
You’re welcome, thanks for watching
Very good, informative video. Can you tell me what compressor you are using?
It’s an xtm brand compressor but it’s probably from the same factory as many of the other cheap compressors. Works fine though
Advice needed please. I am a newbie with solar and these portable power stations. We are doing a two month long camping trip using a van where we will be basically living out of it without ever using any kind of shore power. We live in Idaho and will be traveling into the backcountry of BC, Canada on this trip. I bought a 12V portable fridge and a Acopower 100W 12V monocrystalline solar panel. I only have room on the roof for one 100W solar panel because I have 2 cargo boxes. Just ordered a BLUETTI EB55 Portable Power Station 537Wh. We drive a lot, at least a little bit each day. We don’t plan on using the battery for anything other than the fridge, as we have a generator for powering everything else. Any help would really be helpful. This newbie would really appreciate any ideas/input!
☺️ nice
Thanks! 😁
How do you find running your compressor off the AGM? Has the battery performance degraded at all?
I generally don’t. I run an extension lead to the starter battery. I just have the option of using the agm as a backup. I’ll use it if I’m just pumping up a basketball or something though with no issues 👍🏻
Hey mate, I got the same fridge and same xtm box. I've bought a 120Amp deep cycle battery.
Can I plug the solar straight to the battery? Via anderson plug ? To keep my fridge going 24/7?
Solar is 150W
Is it dangerous when you leave the vehicle in the sun because the car might heat up with all the windows closed?
Curious what the Voc rating is for your solar panel. I have a CTEK as well and intended to use the Solar input but it has a Voc limit of 23V. Many panels are rated close or over this at 25 celsius and I live in Canada, so see colder temps where the Voc will be even higher. I inquired and was told by CTEK that this would damage the D250 solar input. Do you know of this limitation?
Lithium would probably not be a great option for a sealed car in the sun. Max charge temp is typically around 45 deg C, with typically an upper limit of temperature being ~60 deg C. Obviously depends on climate
Yea I wasn’t sure about lithium. I’m not experienced with it. Cheers mate 👍🏻
@@FreedomInMindtv LifePO4 might be different, but considering how hot vehicles in Australia can get, I wouldn't be comfortable
A a😊😅
