My favorite houseplant bug control tip! Spiders! Like, actually ones ❤️ whenever I find a spider in my house I bring it to my house plants. They love to eat all the annoying bugs and leave the plant itself alone
Long time viewer 🤗 There are tons of plant people on TH-cam these days. You have always been my favorite 🌱 Thank you for showing reality of keeping plants. I love when you normalize yellow leaves and enjoying when plants look like plants instead of perfect plastic decore.
omg, I got one of these JUST because you suggested it. And I absolutely love it. And to me, it smells good. I love that it looks like a little mini tree. And yes, I find that it grows like crazy with lots of light and water. I don't really keep it damp all the time, but once it barely dries out, it wants more water. You made the right choice with the white pot, looks great!
It's nice to have some informal style videos, thanks for sharing this. Plus it helps show people that it's ok if a plant dies, not always something that can be avoided.
Nice and relaxing video🥰I did watering today too. Took me an hour or so with my few plants; 20, And I use a big wide bin filled with warm water, white vinegar to adjust the ph and N.P.K. 5.5.16. My houseplants have a really good root system and growing well. I don't think I could take on a hundred or more😋🥴I do have a big cacti collection on my balcony too😊🙏Thanks for the episode👌🌟Have a great day🤲🌄
Love tuning in Nick, you give my spirit a much needed boost, you got me buying more house plants, the last one being a variegated English Ivy which I made into a topiary wreath, came out beautiful.Greetings from rural Maine!
Beware of spidermites if you're keeping it inside! Ivy is known to be a total spidermites magnet unfortunately. Topiary wreath sounds lovely though! Greetings from the Netherlands
I have a thickish red plastic tray (think it’s still supposed to be disposable) that you take sandwich platters or cookies to events on. You can probably get them online or at Walmart. I had it for years and never used it. Decided to repurpose it as my repotting tray. Works great. Easy to clean and the edge keeps most of the dirt off the counters and floors. I am kind of a mess repotting so there’s always something on the floor to clean up, lol
That was fun. I feel exhausted and I don't even have 25 plants. I'm working on it. It's a dreaded chore bit it must be done and when I finally start it's rewarding to see them all nice and pretty. I love your shelving unit. I need one of those to keep all my plant babies together! Can you tell me when your got it??? Thanks Nick
I have around 100+ if you include the outdoor ones and i dread most of the plant chores but I loveee repotting and watering. The pests however…let’s just say sometimes I consider if I wanna keep gardening because they sometimes have either creepy crawlies or larvae-
@@strawberrytiramisu I have over 150 indoor plants and at least that many just on my porch!! It is a lot of work!! Especially since I tend to over water… lol. I find it relaxing.. I talk to myself a lot while doing plant chores.. or to my plants .. to keep myself on track! What a drag it is getting old… 🤷♀️
So helpful to see. Lots of good tips and tricks. These types of videos are so hard to get through in one sitting though, as they always inspire me to hit pause and start fussing over my own plants. Thanks for sharing.
This video is a nice chill pace 😊 I noticed that all your drip trays seem to be attached to the bottom of the pots. Is there something that you did to make that happen?
Plectrantus is called mothplant where I live. (Norway). I guess they made use of the smelly feature to ward off moths in woollen clothes when they stored them over winter.
The random monstera is a Laniata. They don't like to dry out, low humidity, too much light or too much feed. Cut and prop those nodes, then put them in leca or an alocasia mix. Super cool plant when mature, don't throw her away!
I found a good idea while watching the video. You keep the pot in the sink drawer. I should use the empty space, too. Of course, I watched the plant re-poting and care.^^
I purchased the plectranthus ernstii almost 2 yrs ago because of you. I'm still learning about it but haven't killed it! It's so darn cute and can take a bit of neglect.
Yep senecio def grow more in the winter, my two have been taking off lately! Also I repotted two plants during this video so here’s hoping mine also improve rather than getting a death sentence…both were in soil that was not draining well enough
When i have bugs on my plant, I not only clean the plant off, I remove it from the old soil and throw the soil out. I then use another pot and use fresh soil. It seems to work for me.
Are your grow lights powered through a usb? Im in Australia and I’m struggling to find grow lights for my IKEA Fabrikor plant cabinet. I need those bars like you have that can stick onto the glass shelves but a lot of the ones I have seen on Amazon look like they have a North American power cord
Do you notice you have to water more in the winter, I live in PA too and because of the humidity in the summer- I feel like I’m watering SO much more in the winter due to the dry heat. Even if everyone says to water less, mine would for sure die. Lol
Oh shoot I need to do a maintenance day 😅 I need to clean off all of the leaves, water them and then spray the soil with diatomaceous earth because I have fungus gnats in the middle of winter 😒
I'm the same way, I don't want to trash them if they are dying or just looking yucky. What if I can save it? I've tried that and they still often look like crap, 3 months later. Then someone recently mentioned that life is too short (and living space is often too small) for ugly/dying plants. Well said! I only have so much room and if it's going to look like crap, I'd rather get one that looks great and that I hopefully won't kill again.
"maybe it's because I'm a boy!" LMFAO... great video... and i had no idea you had to use that much of the systemic... i usually just sprinkle some on the top soil, and it seems to work... but dang, you threw a ton of it on that small planter...
Even though I love my plants, my life would be so much easier and cleaner if I didn't have sooooooooo many plants! And since I took a feral cat and her 3 babies in, the cats have taken over, so I have to choose between the plants or the cats....I think the cats will win..... :) I too have a black, she's the mommy that I took in with her 3 babies, I love them! :)
If I even hear the word thrips, I'll start crying. They are the worst!! I know this is years old, but I hope you won the battle. The systemic is the only way.. as you know. I need to get more Bonide..just keep them ready for the pests.

What lights are you using in your ikea shelf? I want to do a similar set up but I want grow lights that will actually do something!
I have found that it helps quite a lot to group plants into larger pots so there are less pots but the same number of plants- less cluttered!! 👍😀
