Alchemist always been a great producer he just don't work with all rappers you gotta really now how to rap and he will give u a track you really need bars to be on 1 of his beats
Can we appreciate the fact that this is one of the most perfect diss beats of all time. This sounds like a night terror where you're running as hard as you can and the killer in your dream is just walkin but he's always right behind you anyway. What Alc and Kendrick did on this is truly HISTORY
I just read a comment saying: "those piano chords played through meet the grahams played in A Minor is masterfully done, they litterally sing "you're a pe do" repetivaly all through the track". I tip my hat to Kendrick and the people he is working with, geniuses!
Sound like when the killer walks out of the murder scene, unnoticed, everyone scrambling to the murder scene while the killer walks among them in the opposite direction type vibe
I’ve been a musician for 15+ years and I think what’s so perfectly fitting for this, given the track and it’s subject matter, is that the 4th piano note is out of key. But it’s not glaringly out of key, you can tell somethings off but it’s just subtle enough that it’s almost like a subconscious feeling of something being off. And you’re waiting for it to get back into key, waiting for it to sound “right”, but those 4 notes just repeat over and over and over again. And the way it’s played is like someone’s just bashing on the keyboard and that sound just pierces through you the entire time. Right off the bat when those notes kick in you get an immediate visceral reaction like “oh damn something’s not right” but you can’t escape it and that uneasiness ain’t going away. Kendrick and Alch both came in like this isn’t a diss track drizzy this is judgement day and you should be scared.
As one man had stated earlier, "The lyrics were written with a quill in one hand and a gun in the other as the paper just burns away from the corners, never daring to touch such vile and hateful acapella towards such a sick individual".
It's something about that piano in the beginning that makes you thinks it's about to be a happy song then it get scary and all I hear is "YOU LIED ABOUT.."
Ty ! This beat is so grimey and so evil but not in a villain way more like a hero committing his first murder, like if batman was to kill for the first time. From the piano keys to the yelling in the background and the small beat changes giving you a small glimmer of hope until it undeniably goes back into this hurtful and dark tone. Ive heard this song multiple times since it release hours ago and i still feel sorrow. It gives me dancing with the devil vibes. It makes me wanna commit small acts of bad with good intentions.
There's something so eternal about those piano chords played in between the verses. Like I can imagine the whole instrumental still playing over Drake's dead body, with those chords still repeating every minute or so like nothing happened
I really wanted to see what exactly made this beat so haunting. It’s a Amaj/G chord and a microtonal (in between two notes) descending half whole diminished scale on top. This type of dissonance sounds genuinely sinister.
True Authentic Hip Hop Beat, This Reminds Me Of Being In The Lunch Room Cafeteria With A Piano In The Corner A Couple Pencils and a Wicked Fist For That Base….Nostalgic
Beat definitely reminds of "Love's Train" by Con Funk Shun. The timing of the lyrics "If-you-are-that-spe-cial-lover/ and love-keeps-you-tied-to-a-nother" 🎶
I feel like I would hear this in a boss fight where it’s dozens of levels above me or like on of those things in games that are impossible to kill and are just there to kill yoi
Reminds me of the Michael myers piano riff. Perfectly aligns with this whole diss track. Lurking in the shadows. You sense he’s near. No matter where you try to hide. The boogey man…Right there to get you…
This beat is sinister and flat out menacing
