I only hope that the classical format of chess is not forgotten. Rapid, blitz, armageddon are a different game than classical chess. Changing the rules of a game can really take its toll. Like taking body checks and fighting out of hockey...not the same game anymore. Please preserve and promote classical chess...hundreds of years should be cherished, not tampered with, or forgotten. cheers!

I really hope Armageddon is not the future of classical chess. Yeah it gets more exciting games and less cases of 12 draws out of 12 games, but it's like sending a football game to penalties if there's a draw in half time - it's good drama, but bad football/chess, if it can even be called that. And being a better Armageddon player would actually encourage players to go for a draw in the classical(and since draws can "win" Armageddon, "draw specielists" will probably have an even larger advantage). Rapid and Bullet are great games on their own, but Classical should stay as classical as possible. If Armageddon is used as a tie breaker, it should be considered as a fraction of a point, so that advantage is only counted in cases of tie breakers in the classical games(In this tournament, Carlsen would have 5.5+0.06, while Ding would have 5.5+0, so the would have been one after the other in the table, but Carlsen still leading).
I like that tournaments are decided in more than one time format as long as the chess championship stays a mostly classical only (Sure for the tie breaks other formats are fine)
I think the armageddon format is just bad! There are blitz tournaments and there are classical tournaments. If a game ends in a draw, it's a draw. First you get 0,5 points from a great 3-4 hour game and then you can get twice as much for holding a draw with the black pieces in a blitz game. the armageddon is just way too decisive in my opinion and I have a feeling lots of the players have the same feeling (at least Ding)
