    This performance was hyped but the one they did in 2016 for MAMA was a lot better.
    They did Blood, sweat and tears and Fire as well but with an intro with snippets of two "solos" songs. That whole performance was an iconic one, very theatrical.
    I saw them live in concert in 2019 in Brazil and it was by far the best show I've seen (and I do go to a lot of concerts). The level of energy, charisma and talent on stage is just marvelous to see. They are incredible live. The concert was more than 3 hours and it was truly fantastic.

      I was going to suggest he watch the 2016 MAMA performance, because I also think it's the better of the two. Especially with Jimin and J-Hope's side by side performances to Lie and Boy Meets Evil. It was all so amazing 💜
      I am somewhat jealous that you got to see them live. I live in New Zealand 🇳🇿, and can't imagine ever having that chance. That said, I am also pleased that you had that chance, and that you had a wonderful time.💜

      Agree, the camera work for MMA in 2016 was horrible (and a few others years too LOL) but the MAMA was much better and the same general timeframe. They are so freaking amazing live.

    This night was ICONIC! Not only iconic performance but also the night BTS won the Album of the Year for the first time!! They were also the first artist not from the 3 biggest labels in Kore to ever win so it was super unexpected. Like they were crying the whole time accepting the award ARMYs around the world were crying, I cried 😅. I stayed up basically all night to watch the show live because it aired basically at dawn where I was. Absolutely iconic.
    And then a few months later they would be the first Kpop (group) to ever be awarded a Billboard music award for Top Social Artist. Literally like no one at the event knew who they were and yet they got the loudest cheers of the night.
    BTS have made so much history and was beyond thrilling as a fan to watch it all happen and really feel like we helped make it happen

    just a note - there are two major awardshows that have the big performances. one is MAMA (Mnet Asian Music Awards) and one is MMA (MelOn Music Awards - MelOn is a streaming platform in Korea like spotify)
    the best performance for each year depends. for MMA i'd say 2018, 2019 and 2020 performances were the best. for MAMA, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2020 too.
    the camera work gets better in the coming years so i'd definitely recommend checking out the future performances!
    also if you're interested i'd recommend watching the MAMA performance of this year for these songs as well! it showed the boys and their performance a lot better in that one!

    Can you believe this is just an awards show?! They're insane. I saw them in 2021 at sofi stadium in La and let me just say, I'm about to be 51, I've seen all kinds of concerts, rap, punk, 80s alternative, classic rock, Irish opera singers etc, even other kpop groups, and the BTS concert was the *BEST* I've ever seen, no lie. There's the fanchants, the conversation times / + endmeet, the singing along. It's a fabulous, visceral, almost total sensory experience . You said you're watching spring day next? Hearing over 60k ARMYs, singing the "whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh, whoa oh oh ohhh's"? 1 of the best experiences of my life! Tickets were going so damn fast seats were disappearing as we were clicking. Ended up in the 2nd to last row off to the left. While the stairs almost destroyed me, the concert was 100% worth it. Spring day was the only song I recorded in full. I recorded snippets here & there, & all of their talking times, but I mostly wanted to enjoy the moment. But spring day is so special I had to record for posterity 😊 oh, when you watch that mv, spring day, pls watch Italian ARMYs explanation video. It's sad, but important. 💜

    I blast this song for everything I need energy, or to be distracted. Let Army tell you which lives are best. They will help you! Please how stable their LIVE vocals are with their dancing. This is so difficult. They are amazing. I'm 70 yrs old and have never been a fan of POP music, until BTS! Blow me away.

    I have been lucky enough to see BTS live more than I've seen any other artist, to the point that I'm in the double digits. It's such an amazing experience. Not only the concert, which is truly amazing, but the fans make it. They are included in the concert through their own lines (the sections that were subtittled fanchants in that video) but also syncronised light shows where fans own light sticks and when you go to a concert you pair it to your seat so they can create patterns and images. The fans also have created a wonderful culture around the show with people giving out free gifts, wearing super cool outfits, and just being so genuinely caring. About half the shows I went to, I went by myself and I always made friends there. The boys put on such a good show where its a mix of insane high production elements and intimate moments that no other concerts will ever hold up to it for me, I'm afraid.
    If you continue down this rabbit hole each year the award show performances get bigger and better. There are a ton of kpop award shows but arguably the two biggest are MAMA and MMA (which I know is super confusing). It tends to change year by year which one I think is better, with my votes being MAMA for 2017, MAMA for 2018, MMA for 2019, and MAMA for 2020. My all time fav is MMA 2019!

    I’ve seen them live three times now (was actually supposed to go for a fourth time on my birthday in 2020 but we all know how that turned out). The energy and performance is absolutely crazy! Army (the fans) actually add to the performance with fan chants and singing along (and the sound in a building as opposed to a stadium with an open roof is actually deafening)! You instantly become best friends with everyone sitting next to you. My mom and I go together every time and we’re saving money for when BTS come back after serving.

    This award ceremony is very special for BTS and ARMY, as they received the first daesang (grand prize) of their career. In Korea, every award ceremony has some that, due to their importance, are classified as daesangs.
    The award that BTS received was the first of that kind that was received by a group or artist that was not part of the Big 3 (the main Kpop companies at that time SM, JYP and YG).

    The Jimmy Fallon is live... in a way. They sing it live, perform multiple times, record multiple times, but then there is still post-production with video cut using the best recorded versions and audio chosen with the best singing performance (+ cleared up any messy sounds like clothes touching mics and stuff). So, it's performed live, but it's not a *live broadcast* with a live audience like this award show performance.
    P.S.: I prefer BS&T and Fire performance at MAMA 2016 (with one of the coolest dance intros they've ever done), but this one is also great. BTS does not do bad performances 😊
    P.P.S.: seeing BTS live is definitely an event, whether you're a fan or not. It's absolutely ~AMAZING~ best concert of my life, and some of the best times of my life as well!

    The MAMA performance of these two songs is slightly better in camerawork and quality, with two solos included. BTS is amazing in both but overall that one’s my fav. Regardless my daughter and I have seen them multiple times in person. The whole 2.5-3hr concert is this loud (ARMY) and this energetic by BTS. I’ve been to many concerts of every genre in my 46yrs, theirs was the best by far. 💜💜💜

    To echo everyone else, BTS live is no joke! I've seen them four times (2017, 2018, 2019, 2022) and each time was such a treat. Their performances and overall showmanship is top tier. Plus their concerts just have an overall feel that I've yet to experience anywhere else; and that largely has to do with the fans! The culture is very unique, ARMY have a lot of passion and energy and just sitting in the venue before the show starts gets you hyped. I've also never walked out of a concert with so much free stuff than I do when I go to a BTS concert! Fans love giving away freebies and recuerdos/souvenirs. (My favorite I've recieved was BTS gum from Japan!) I definitely recommend watching more of their live performances if you can! It's interesting seeing how they convey the music video and/or lyrics of a song into a performance through choreography/clothing/stage design. So much work gets put into it (especially behind the scenes) and you can tell.

    I have seen BTS live once (in Los Angeles, for Permission to Dance, and I saw j-hope live at Hobipalooza. Both experiences were like none others that I have seen - and I've seen both Michael and Janet Jackson, Journey, Styx, Jimmy Buffett, and about 100 others in concert. They are absolutely incredible performers, and the ARMY bombs add an entirely different element as well.
    I am not going to recommend seeing them, though. The ticket blood bath for their next tour in 2025/2026 is going to be insane already...lol 😜

    I saw them at Wembley Stadium best concert I've ever been to and I've been to a large number of concerts since 1979. Wembley stadium was sold out in 90 minute's. Wembley Stadium holds 90,000 before we changed some of our Heath and Safety laws it was allowed to hold 120,000. BTS are one of only 12 Artists/Groups to sell out Wembley Stadium and only 1 of 7 to do it more than once. BTS are wild they are total Rock Stars. Their concerts are insane.

    'Blood, sweat and tears' contains one of their most notorious "misheard lyrics." It sounds like they're saying "Money money money.....money money money " but that's actually just the Korean word for "More."
    But Nick, trust me : do NOT watch Spring Day without reading about the tragic story behind it first. I've seen three reactors do that, chirping, "I don't know anything about this song!" before. And all three just ended up sitting there looking blank for five minutes. The song is so much more meaningful when you've read about the Sewol ferry disaster first.

    • @Mark-vj7zd
      @Mark-vj7zd ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It’s important to note that the song Spring Day was not written about Sewol.
      The video alludes to the disaster but it’s a pity that such a fantastic song about grief, separation, lost friendship and, ultimately, hope gets overwhelmed by its association with a specific tragedy.

    • @v.vlenmf05
      @v.vlenmf05 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mark-vj7zd it's not a pity, BTS confirmed that the song is now related to the tragedy and that makes everything more significant. It is the reason why the song never left the korean charts, many people can relate and BTS make the performance with references to the Sewol Tragedy. RM wrote this song for the loss and that's exactly the meaning that the song have now. It's not a pity, it's like art works.

    • @Mark-vj7zd
      @Mark-vj7zd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@v.vlenmf05 No. That’s misleading and it’s exactly what I mean about the song’s personal meaning and universal message getting subsumed by a specific tragic event.
      They kinda confirmed that the VIDEO is related to *a* significant event, and it’s pretty obvious which one. RM and Suga have both explained that the song was originally written about their personal experiences of separation from family and friends. In Suga’s case it’s widely thought that he was at least partially referring to the same friend he wrote to/about in ‘Dear My Friend’.
      The song should be allowed its own significance separately from any association with Sewol.

    For your info this is an award show where BTS was jusr a guest performer among other Kpop artists. As always whenever BTS performs in an award show it turns into a BTS Mini Concert. And BTS is way much better to watch live and you will get more than your money's worth. Asian award shows are miles away better than western or American award shows. Their stages are massive. Just like when BTS perform at the Grammy's the stage is way too way small for them to really give a good performance that they even have to perform beyond the stage. And mind they did this with one day rehearsal before the show because of Covid which one them has and Jin just an operation on hand. To really enjoy BTS live or not performances you have to keep an open mind as you cannot really compare them to western artists. I suggest you better warch MMA 2018 and MAMA 2019 award shows. They are different Asian Awards show. These are the classic BTS performances. And by the way BTS songs/mv's are almost interconnected starting fron their debut and have deep messages as their songs are not about drugs sex booze women etc but all about loving yourself bullying deppression(as one them experienced) the scho system etc. As I mentioned just keep an open mind. A warning though that if you get into the rabbit hole there's no turning back.

    The Walking was a better performance of blood sweat and tears and fire, but it was at the 2016 MAMA Awards! After you watch the music videos didn't you get suggestions for a live performance? Also, the suggestions would have been way in favor of the MAMA 2016 performance. Do a lot of these performances multiple times and every performance is different. You can watch a live performance of blood sweat and tears and fire at four different award shows in Asia each performance is completely different..

    I agree the video quality is bad. Not a huge fan of the camera angles choices at times, either.

      It's the same, it's actually more accurate to say a lot, as more in Korea is "deo" (더).

    As far as camera work for a live award show... this one was NOT very good. Also... I'm not sure which Jimmy Fallon performance you watched, but if it was IN the US... it was 100% live, if it was during the pandemic and during Fallon's BTS Week... they were pre-recorded and sent in since they couldn't leave Korea, but it was still live while it was recorded. They would record multiple takes of the entire song and it may have been edited afterwards, but it is always live vocals.
    I have seen them live as a group 4 times and I saw Suga live 3 times. I'm 43, used to sing, and have been to more shows than I can even remember and NOTHING has ever compared to BTS or SUGA.

    Oh, they are SO good live, but this camerawork was actually trash, lol.
    All they have to do is leave a camera on them, front and center, then go on a lunch break. BTS will handle all the rest and you get to see ALL the choreography because it is brilliant. The dance practices will show you all that you miss with cameramen trying to get fancy.
