If he wants her back but he isnt ready to compromise on anything, that matters to her, what's the point? I'm glad, other couples showed her that unconditional love, genuine friendship and respect is indeed possible and that she wasnt crazy to expect it.
Edit: one hour every three months?! that's ludicrous.

Fundies treat women like indentured servants so none of this is surprising lol he wants to be with her because she makes his life easier. "When's the last time you cooked a meal?" just shows he sees her as an appliance that's supposed to perform a function

Ethan is going to have a hard time with any partner. Idk about you but never communicating problems and disappearing when you need a break is extremely toxic let alone everything else. Even for the most subservient wife that would get old very fast. I wonder how long the family is going to give Olivia sole blame for the issues they’ve always had

I was thinking the same. With this avoidant communication style he will really have a difficult time being with literally anyone. And according to what I've seen, this avoidant style is extremely difficult to fix. He will need to go through so much pain to fix it as it is a deep rooted issue.

They’ll blame her forever no matter what comes out

As someone who did something similar (not nearly as toxic of an upbringing but still) it takes a lot to change that habit and communication style and work through that fear but if he isn’t willing to see a therapist about it idk if he’ll ever change it.

This video made me tear up. As someone who is currently distancing myself from my family and extended family, losing some of that closeness with my siblings is the biggest thing to get over. But I feel the same way as Olivia. In the end it's not worth it. Thanks for covering this show and all these extra tidbits!!

I love your videos, you are really well spoken and very thoughtful. I honestly prefer watching your videos than watching the actual show. lol

I wonder, if Ethan would genuinely be happy with a wife, that performs her gender traditionally AND is approved by his toxic family. From my experience, following THE fundie recipe for marital happiness is foolish as we are all too different (and interesting) to fit neatly in those TWO rigid boxes. Human nature and life is way more complicated and broader than what fundies are told to believe. Good luck to Olivia: curiosity will save the cat!

Ethan wabts to repeat what he was taught..
Which he has, hence the divorce.
Olivia doesn't want to repeat her upbringing. Yes values are important, but not more than your loved ones.
