It's a special holiday edition of Sawdust, and this one is extra sweet!
Before the construction business, there was the family business. The chocolate​ business, to be exact. Jeff Sweenor got his entrepreneurial start from his grandfather, Walter, who opened Sweenor's Chocolates more than 70 years ago. What started as a modest home business is now the state's largest chocolate manufacturer -- a Rhode Island institution well-known for its quality products and customer service.
Each year, Sweenor's Chocolates upholds the tradition of making homemade candy canes. The community favorite is made by hand from the Sweenor family themselves, a father and his children creating together side-by-side.
Follow along as we venture into the Sweenor Chocolate's kitchen for a special look at the importance of family and community traditions, and an inside view of what it takes to create this sweet treat.
