  • In this video we passed another boat on our left side. We were oblivious to the huge wake the boat created. We were engrossed in finding a spot we wanted to fish. All of a sudden we had water coming over the boat from the wake. Good thing it happened in somewhat warm weather, rather then during the winter months. I enjoy fishing in cold weather.

Operating error! Captain wasn't aware of his surroundings.

Smith mountain is a dangerous lake because it's a favorite of the pleasure boating crowd. It's a relatively clean mountain lake, and thousands of them live on the lake. Commonly, the least experienced boaters.

God forbid you chop the throttle and slow down when the first one hit. 🙄

Smith mountain when I was taking my captains license, that lake always came up as the most dangerous lake in VA.😊

we call them rollers !! actually cant see them until you on them , but operator should be aware of situation they saw the vessell that made them, could have been worse,if runninig 70 mph the boat would have launched like a rocket!!! running lower end of Mississippi river the rollers off bow of looaded ships can throw rollers off 20 ft.high,we actually run on top of rollers to cross from 1 side of river to other. but approaching from a distance you may not see them until to late, many boats with stuctural damage. BE AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS,THINGS HAPPENING AROUND YOU ,

What if it had been a floating log instead of a boat wake ? Defensive driving doesn't only apply to driving a car

And goes on to roll big wakes at the tight-lining boat.

Wake up people. I'm on the water almost every weekend. And that's all I see is stupid. Wake up there is other people on the water that has had enough of the stupid. Ì will get your boat numbers and calling on you. Trust me your registration will get canceled.

Next to you'll run over a jet skier. Not paying attention is a child's excuse, so no excuse at all.

Why would you post evidence of your severely lacking boating skills.
