Honestly, I love the Book and Movies. I read it a few times before seeing the movie as a Teenager. Read a couple other books by Puzo, Omerta was pretty damn good...but that was pretty much Michael Corleone but more Modern.

Very important video. Marlon Brando looks smiley in the whole movie where the Original Vito is full of gravity.

true, Vito died peacefully with his family around him while Michael died miserable and alone and his family aren't around him to mourn for him.

which Buick do you think Sonny was driven when he was killed? Because in the Novel, Sonny was driven a Buick, not a Lincoln.

The movie is waaaaaay better than the book. The book took 1/3 of the story and devoted it to the girl Sonny was banging in the wedding scene. It was a pretty pointless story line, as was another third of the book devoted to the Frank Fontane character. The movie took the best third of the book and focused on that.

I liked the extra details to Johnny Fontaine's story, as well As Enzo the Baker. They would maybe be "overproving" The Don's power a little if they showed that in the movie, but it was great to see them solve their problems. And it was nice to see The Don fix a lot of Johnny's problems with his advice on how to deal with an ex wife who makes the common mistake to see their man as a money machine, and not a man. Some of that advice wouldn't fly today, and maybe wouldn't even in then, as it was cut, but I really enjoyed reading it.
But yes, The girl Sonny was banging who had the oversized vagina...even director Francs Ford Coppola talked about it in his commentary. He personally felt the core story of the Corelones was extremely powerful, and wasn't sure what Puzo was thinking with that subplot. I personally feel if that one single subplot had not been written The Godfather would have been considered one of the Great American novels next to The Great Gatsby, Catcher and the Rye, and more. Puzo did have a great writer's craft and great attention to detail towards cultures.
As Vito Corleone would have told him, "Mario! You're brain's going soft! All this comedy you're playing with this young girl! Never deviate from the main plot this far again!"

@@johnhein2539 I never read the book but some quotes and audio book parts I heard that were kind of sexual made me think the novel was supposed to be more in that pulp fiction style where sex and crime sells and maybe the writer's sexual fantasies were at play a bit too.
