An absolute classic. I haven't played it since I did an episode about it over on my channel, but, OF COURSE, now I want to go back and play it again after watching your video!!

I used to rent this game as a kid. I remember it being pretty hard but I played through it in a few weekends. It's not an unfair game in any sense, it just has some weird programming for the enemy spawns.
Great review of a great game. I really would like you to review Journey to Silius if you have the time in the future.
Both Ninja Gaiden and Journey to Silius had some really awesome music.

The music, my god. I've learned that over the years, the faster you move forward.. the easier the game gets (most times) speed kills in this one

By the time I had first played this, i think it was 2000ish and I had already had a N64 and what not, but I still loved it, never did beat it though.

I played it for a while yesterday and added it to the increasing list of games I beat as a kid and I can barely play a few stages into today before I must give up.

looking for an old certain game. I remember it just similar to ninja gaiden or castleveinia in term of gameplay. The game have a stage that is when you reach to a certain map you will see the whole background of the map is black. the entire map have lot of giant iron bar maybe the color of the iron bar is white. It's like a giant prison because behind the those iron bar is the princess stuck and imprison behind the bar. when you reach at the end of that prison map you will see princess behind the bar and a boss ready to fight you. I don't remember if defeat the boss will rescue the princess behind those giant iron bar. the princess size is just as big as the character player control.
    Anyone of think of?

Man that was a good review! This game easily makes me more angry than any other in my huge library of games. I haven't played the arcade in so long. It looks better than I rem

It hasn't aged as gracefully as the NES game sadly. Still fun if you like beat-em-ups.

I recently played this on the Switch and boy is it hard. I still find it fun to play, but those constant respawning enemies get annoying after away.

It's not really that hard until the final stages, and then the difficulty is mostly due to some tricky jumps and sadistically placed respawning enemies. The real challenge is defeating Jaquio and the demon, especially when the game sends you all the way back to 6-1 every time you fail.

I've never actually beaten this game, but I've come close. I ahted dying so much, but that was outweighed by the fun I had playing it.

I think that's basically the attitude you have to take into this one.

I got to the last boss but could not beat the second part of it hated getting send back to the begining of the stage😡 still one of the best NES games out there

The difficulty of this game is very exaggerated. The game is extremely generous with infinite continues and checkpoints, there's almost no RNG, so you will quickly memorize any stage through trial and error and then breeze through it. The bosses are all simple. The only hard part is the final stage because of how far it sends you back when you die to the final boss, but even then if you persist you will eventually memorize a route to breeze through the final stages, because there's no randomness to it. Plus the game even saves your final boss progress, you don't have to re-do any fight! I played this game for the first time recently and I beat it on my first try, in one sitting, and it took me about 4 hours (2 hours spent on the final stage.) I think there are WAY harder games on the NES that make this game look like a cakewalk. But at least this game is harder than Contra and Mega Man, those games are just straight up easy. Ninja Gaiden II is even easier. The only hard Ninja Gaiden is the third one because they removed infinite continues and checkpoints.
