Cap does come off. Just on there good.

Does it still meet you're expectations?
Yes used it a few times. Its a basic heat gun but does the job.
How well did it work removing the phone screen? Too hot?
It worked good. Just heated enough to remove the glue holding the glass on the phone. Replaced the glass and the phone now works.
