Float fishing artificial baits for winter bluegill and crappie - Surprise Skipjack!

  • Can TH-cam help me become a better fisherman? In this episode I return to my winter honey hole. I take out the spinning reel this time for better casting of the float rig. For this trip I am running 10 lb braid. I am also using a small float, below that a small 1/32 oz grub and a 1/16 oz jig head with a pink & white tube bait. I am fishing in 3-8 ft of water around fallen trees. I manage to catch a skipjack, a few crappie, a small bass or two, and a handful of bluegills.

Encouraging video. I don't lose my faith in catching crappie and bass with plastic lures.

I might have a better chance at a trophy imitating a skipjack. Good idea.

Been to that same area many times by boat, never fished off the bank there...but Great crappie spot none the less. Im a new subscriber, but its good to see some fellow fisherman in this area reeling them.

Yet another great video again. A pity the crappie were not bigger. Gave me ideas about my local lake though.

we like to eat crapie and bluegill. the bass is for fun, having a nice dinner though, crappie and bluegill. im in Indiana, don't think we have salmon, and not big on catfish. I heard white bass tastes good too, I shoulda tried the ones ive caught. but now I know to taste em gl fishing crappie and bass are like two different worlds... the bait, style... but I caught a crappie on a square bill the other day, and a small mouth on the same one the next night. weird lol its like I fish for one thing and get another all the time, fishing is like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get lol sry

I had that same Okuma reel. I loved that reel, it caught so many look downs and sea trout and then one day an 8 pound permit killed it! Gears just blew up but it still grinded the fish in. may it rest in pieces! BTW, really nice skip jack!
