  • Isa Holliday & Jelle Harde talk about their favourite bass and guitar gear covered in cat hair! Since we get tons of questions about our gear used on our records and live, we decided to make this little video.

    I've been to many concerts in my life. Small ones, huge ones. I even saw Tool last year and that was pretty amazing. Nothing, absolutely nothing, compares to seeing Slow Crush. I've never wanted to re-live a concert more. It truly was magical and I can't wait to see you again in Nashville!

      Thank you, kinda hard to type this out. It’s 3 notes but a bit crazy chords progression wise (a ton of changes around few notes).
      Reverb into OD into more reverb.
      Modulation into reverb for cleans.
      Fuzz into less reverb for the heavier rhythm guitars.

    What is the reverse reverb effect on Collide (also heard in the remix)? I used to assume it was an EHX Cathedral or Oceans 11, but now I'm wondering if it's from the Big Sky or Space.

    • @SLOWCRUSH

      It is the space. That's the best reverse reverb around, it's also used on the new album

    I know this is an old video, but I really enjoyed it as I've always been super impressed by your bass and guitar tone. Would love to see/hear more of this stuff, especially diving into pedals. Question, do you use a lot of other effects with your fuzz sound or is just a little reverb after?

    • @SLOWCRUSH
      @SLOWCRUSH  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We’re always stacking tons of reverbs even when using a fuzz pedal (before or after)
      Vibrato always on at the start to get some movement. Sometimes Tremelo after the verbs. It’s a bit all over the place.

    Thanks for the great rig rundown.
    Do I understand correctly that after the Big Sky the signal goes out in mono to the compressor, the volume pedal and the CabZeus? So, there’s no actual stereo going on? Or is that only for the P.A. sound?
    And in line with that: are you using two amps at all, or is it always only one amp at a time?
    Thanks again, this was great!

    • @SLOWCRUSH
      @SLOWCRUSH  16 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Definitely stereo out for 1 of the guitars. The rhythm / other guitar is mono.

  • @sunnystrathern8396
    @sunnystrathern8396 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can't wait :D If I may ask a question here, how much of Isa's sound comes from the sans amp, and how much from the rest of her set up?

    • @SLOWCRUSH
      @SLOWCRUSH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It’s basically, my bass into a sansamp pushed into slight overdrive, into Le bass for more drive and finally a hot amp.
      Either darkglass, orange ad200 or ampeg svt. 3 gain stages!
      Since I push the amp hard and we like our bass sound on the warmer side away from main guitar frequencies we always take out a lot of mids on the amps and on the pedals. Most of the time we use Le Bass as a live DI because the first stage (the sansamp) can be a bit dry.
      Nothing super fancy just gain staging with scooped mids and a really good amp and good cabs. But I’d say since I changed to Mesa Boogie cabs I’m totally in love with my sound 💜

    Oh!! one question, I had the impression that Isa was playing with In-Ears, if so are your relying on a Tech guy or are you doing your own mix, like a X32 rack solution or something...

    • @SLOWCRUSH
      @SLOWCRUSH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's right, I play with in-ears live. I currently use a Frankenstein Shure SE425 + SE215 pair as one ear of my 425 was ripped out and shattered at the very end of our set on the last show of the Torche tour last year (timing couldn't have been more perfect). I honestly don't notice a difference between the two ears amplification power... it works for now 🙂
      To answer your question though, I have a simple DIY board, splitting the signal out to handle my own mix of bass + vocals. The rest I get enough of via bleed through the mic into my ears. For Euro tours I use a wireless system and for fly out tours I use a long cable, a splitter and micro amps to boost my vocals into my ears. Job done!

    • @Mrmre
      @Mrmre 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SLOWCRUSH Awesome thank you, we do the same with the long cable. I was curious if you were doing something different than we do. Might have brought ideas we didn't think of ;)

    • @SLOWCRUSH
      @SLOWCRUSH  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It really depends on the song. We don’t have too many effects on vocals, some verb that’s it.
      Certain songs are single takes but mostly we layer it up. We love harmonies although not always clear in the mix. Reel has one lead vocal and 3 extra harmonies at the end chorus.
      I’m a natural quiet singer so that’s probably why I sound so breathy as well 💜
