- I just had to share this warm and delightful rendition of one of Billy's early original songs from his folk singing days. (please read more below)
I have included Ian McCalman's closing comments so as not to clip the guitar intro fade-in.
This clip has been taken from the TV documentary "Barbara Dickson" - courtesy BBC TV/Alba and is offered as a fair use extract for review purposes.

A wonderful documentary with a lot of coverage of Barbara's early folk club days and her subsequent rise to acting and west-end musical fame, and then her return to singing and playing folk song once more.
I do hope BBC TV airs this again or that Alba add the program to their TH-cam Channel.
The program featured especially recorded duets with Archie Fisher, Danny Thompson, Rab Noakes, Troy Donockley and Billy Connolly; with anecdotal contributions from Ian McCalman, Willy Russell, Dave Emery, Oliver Cookson (Barbara's husband), Troy Donockley and The Big Yin himself.
this song is especially humbling because Billy connelly wrote it himself and this version with the inimitable Barbara dickson is sublime and perfect
it's a pity they didn't just let the song run and put the talking at the beginning or the end.
thanks for sharing this was lovely.
we need people like Billlllllly
Warm and Delightful, spot on. I saw the Barbara Dickson programme on BBC Alba a few months back. It was a lovely tribute and this duet was the icing on the cake (for me). I came looking for it on You Tube and it was there. Thanks for putting it up there. Hopefully I'll be able to buy it somewhere (to have forever) but this clip is all the richer for Billy Connolly's 'backstory' about the girl friends mother and the clouds. Absolutely Charming.
nice. always was. heard it when i was a kid. 40 now. still nice
so lovely//thanks
