Good mix of tone examples, downloadable rigs as well as useful applications. I like the focus on Headrush so I’ve watched all of your videos. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for uploading that Silvertone, Aaron. There was one for $500 at a GC store that I played years ago. Still kicking myself for not buying it! Now I get to have one (virtually) all these years later 😀
@@forthecreator1 very cool! Also, an idea for content would be some simple guidelines for eq and frequency cutoffs. Your following is naturally going to be worship style players so signal paths will always be interesting since it’s common to layer many effects for those big sounds.
Wow, I just played Firm Foundation two weeks ago but not near as good as you. And your Hillsong Worship intro was dead on. Another great video. I posterd on your other video that I'll be getting my HRPrime tomorrow and I will surely be looking for your videos. I play the same songs as you do I'm sure. Yesterday was a Phil Wickham day. If you've played around with controlling the Core with MIDI, would love to see more info. I'm having a challenge finding info about how to set up and change rigs and cc parameters on the Core over MIDI. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Beautiful tones!
Hi Peter, thank you for the rigs, you have obviously given them a lot of thought. I noticed that you mentioned the Marshall tone but you have this mixed with a Bogner Blue, is this just a pairing that works. I was also interested to see no gain staging, but the combination of the Bogner and Marshall create a great sound, also a clever idea of engaging the graphic to pull some frequencies out, and tame it back a bit. I think your presentation is great with a balance of playing and talking and about the right length. I think someone asked about reverbs and more of an in depth dive - I think this would be a good idea. Can the HR sound like some of the most used reverb settings on a Strymon Big sky for example. Keep up the good work.
Having different amps left and right gives the sound a width in the stereo field. If the amps are too similar it doesn’t seem to work quite as well. Eg. Vox and Matchless didn’t give me the width. I actually have a Headrush vs Big Sky video shot already, I just need to record an intro jam and edit it. Hopefully get that posted in a few days
That’s great Peter. I have been listening and tweaking your rig using headphones but I am only able to play in mono at Church, so I assume it will sound differently? W
@@warwickgb I havent played in mono for several years so I’m not really sure if tweaks are needed. Maybe reverbs and delays will need to be turned down slightly?
Thanks for sharing, just found your channel and subscribed. I play drums and guitar in my church worship group. Quick question but does the gigboard have balanced outs so run straight into the mixing desk?
All Headrush have balanced outputs and can be connected directly to the console, HOWEVER only the Pedalboard and Prime have XLR outputs. The others have balanced TRS 1/4” outputs, so you would need TRS to XLR cables, in order to plug into an XLR input
How do you connect the headrush pedal? In my case, the dirty sounds extreme compared to what you show on this video. Wondering if Im doing something wrong and my rig sounds super harsh. I connect my headrush to the Power Amp In on my katana mk2. Should I use the regular Guitar IN instead of the Power Amp In? Thanks

Thanks great video! How can you access the extra delays and reverbs using the mx5 it seems you have to have the larger pedalboard to engage those. Thanks
The delay that bounces left and right is the Dynamic Delay set to 800ms (fixed). You can download the rig and then you would have all the settings for your own use
Are u going straight into the desk. I went straight into the desk with the hotone mp100 and sounds terrible. I upgraded from the nux mg30 and both no good. Have 2 line aray pa threw a 8 Chanel mixer. Try the xlr out andquter jacks still terrible. Do u think the head rush mx5 will cut it
Yes, I believe it is possible to get excellent guitar tones from the MX5. Some people have difficulty creating those tones (due to lack of experience), and for them the best option is to start with some pre made sounds that others have created. I have no experience with the other pedals you mention, so I can’t comment on those
Hello, we just got the HR core recently and we will need a basic mixer to make all the needed connections; 2 singers, guitar & one keyboard (drummer has to hear us also) so trying to figure out what would be the best way of connecting the headrush to the mixer (mixer balanced output to PA speakers & at least one monitor for some upcoming small outdoor gigs). Not sure if you need your own mixer but wondering if you have connection suggestions...
I simply have two XLR cables going from Headrush to two channels on the mixer(channels are panned left and right). For monitoring I have a mix coming out of the aux output of the mixer, to a headphone amp, using in-ear-monitors. Alternatively, you could take that aux output to an FRFR
@@forthecreator1Hi, thanks for the reply! I just found out that there are some adaptors for XLR called inline pads to make sure to match the mike inputs levels on a mixer, which I was concerned about. Do you use those or a DI box? If we want to keep the vocals & guitar outs separate, I guess headphone outs could work for monitoring?
I do not use a DI box or a pad. If the signal is still too hot after turning the gain on the mixer channel to zero, then I turn down the master volume knob on the front panel of the Headrush. Yes you can arrange your monitoring outputs however you wish. I recommend each person hasvthri own aux send: that way they can each have a difference mix, hearing whatever they need
@@forthecreator1Last question, did you need to get a high end mixer not to mess up the sound quality or tone from the HR? I find the same rig sounds drastically different if I go from my tele to my gretsch or strat, for example. I've been using the global eq settings on the mx5 but what do you do?
I switch between a Gretsch and a Tele…and make no EQ changes whatsoever. The two guitars sound very different from each other, but I embrace those differences and adjust the way I play, to match the natural tone of the guitar
Most likely you have the IR in a different folder from where I did, so Headrush does not know where to find it. You can tap on the IR block and manually find the correct IR. You only need to do this once, after that the Headrush will know where to look
Thx I'll try that. I have been using this rig for a few weeks now for worship with the IR from your previous rig. This rig is a dream! Thanks so much! @@forthecreator1

MX5 has plenty and I can (and have) gig with only the MX5. But Core does have a lot more choices. If you can afford the next gen (Core/Prime), go for it. But if your budget is tight you’ll get still get excellent results from MX5
