All that time? No one questioned anything about Sarah? No one thought her death was suspicious?

My parents would accuse me of "stealing" food (nope) and would lock me in my room. Literally, those hinge kind outside my door I was only allowed out to eat and go bathroom or bathe. This story hit home for me in more ways than one. To this day, I can't do locked doors. I can't do locked doors on the outside of my doors. I will flip the out

Eleanor was feeling the guilt of what she did to Sarah so when Martha was born, Eleanor saw another Sarah and was being tormented by what she did

I wouldn't have been surprised for her to stumble onto Sarah's remains hidden in the basement.

I would forgive her for myself only because she thought I was someone else, but I would not forgive her for what happened to Sarah, I’m glad the grandmother is finally getting the help she needs

Grandmother needs to go to a home for Special Needs seniors, or to see a therapist. Maybe just new glasses.

Normally I do not comment but this one struck a nerve. 6 months ago my mother, who was starting to show signs of dementia, got seriously sick with pneumonia. I watched my mother turn into someone so angry and so toxic. She would lash out, saying the most hateful things, I would usually wind up sobbing into my husband's shoulder. I had to learn to separate the person that she is now with the woman who raised me. I won't lie, there are times where I struggle with her behaviour, but it is getting a bit easier to separate the behavior from the woman I know and love. The Grandmother had no control over her behaviour and while I can understand the granddaughter's need to protect herself, getting upset and angry and blaming her grandmother was not necessary especially given her mental decline. Like the grandmother, my own mother now has to live in a secured placement and it breaks my heart

I'm sorry to hear this but I'm glad u found a way to still see your mom during these tough times. I wish you continued strength.
I too thought the OP should have better acknowledge/understood the sickness her grandmother had especially after hearing her diagnosis.

Why didn't Martha remove the lock instead?

I'm guessing she was trying her best not to alert her grandmother out of fear of her state of mind.

@udntknomeXX If grandmother had dementia, she should've been committed before she could help anyone.
