Camped at the back of Iron Lodge at the weekend, thought I'd watch your version again. Mentioned how we'll miss your content. 😔 Plenty existing content to look back on though. 👍🏼
Well done on handling the adversity. Would hate to see you give up on hiking the Highlands. The good days will more than make up for the dreich. Looking forward to following your adventure north.
Thanks for watching Innes. I probably won't be giving up but just cutting down to 3 night per trip... after the Scottish National Trail is completed that is.
Well done on a crappy day mate. Sometimes the descents are worse than the climbs. At least you stuck in. Finished the Rob Roy Way and West Highland Way yesterday. Was mainly very wet for most of the time thanks to Typhoon Ali. Glencoe was brutal. Now home and gonna be VERY lazy for a couple of days 😉 keep up the good work. 👍👍👍
Ah cool so you decided against the Cape Wrath Trail then, some things best left until the next time. It really is a tough hike. Good that you completed the WHW and RRW though, well done having to cope with the shitastic weather lol.
Good video Mr Hills. I would rother eat my food out side of that shelter? its scruffy. lol. Looked a bit dodgy that walk down from the water falls. You made good editing of the views. Thanks Steve
After watching your and snowy's videos on the Falls of Glomach I think I'll be just taking the long way to Maol Buidhe next time via Dornie and Iron Lodge. Those flying ticks are called keds and are a nuisance up that way at this time of year. I seem to spend a lot of my time away wishing I was chilling out home, and when I'm at home I'm wishing I was away with the tent!
I totally agree about the path down the falls it's treacherous and only for the very experienced hill walker. I did it and won't ever do it again in a hurry!👍😎
Yeah nightmare path to tread, got to go so slow and carefully all the way to the bottom and the annoying flying biting things didn't help matters. Couldn't even stop to take a break lol. So glad I won't be doing that again either.
Nice one mate, That was a struggle and a half eh? Bloody rain didnae help either. After watching this i will give the falls a big dingy, That path looked dodgy as hell!!! No wonder you were a wee bit angry about it, Dont blame ye! Another great film MrH.
Yeah well luckily the path didn't lead striaght down the gorge as I first thought but it was still very rough and tough. Would never want to do it again.
Blokes got a great sense of humour given he knows he's pretty much living on borrowed time. Wish he was around to chat with on here, I'm sure his insights would be useful. Anyone know what the deal is with the Iron Lodge these days, there's not a lot on-line about it?
Another brilliant video. i came down the falls about a fortnight before you. I found it easy enough after having palpitations after seeing other videos and comments about it. The worst bits for me was at the bottom where there are 2 rock steps to negotiate ! Still to finish the CWT as I again packed up at Ullapool! Must try harder. Anyway don't pack up LDWs. Keep on trecking.
That path didnt look fun, I'm currently planning a route next year going up that path to the falls, may have re-think? Looking forward to the next day!
I would just avoid it Nigel lol. But if you must go you could follow the river upstream from the falls to meet a path which takes you an easier route to Carnach but I don't know how boggy it is.
Actually it is not that bad. Unless you haven't the head for heights and steep drop offs to your side. With a heavy sack makes it harder due to balance. I got worried due to adverse comments about it on the Internet.
He won't look at camera when speaking, if you look closely you can see his mouth is all twisted when he speaks, the effects of his brain tumour? That's why he is self conscious, poor guy, op.must have gone wrong, rip
@@gingerbeerkid1967 Watching a lot of these videos now, initially unaware that he'd died. But having watched a few I spotted the comments relating to his untimely death. I wondered if these walks were a response to discovering he'd got the brain tumour and had decided that given his life was cut short he'd make use of the time he had left walking the hills of Scotland? It strikes me that if that's the case - he dealt with the fact that he was dying incredibly well and bravely. I'm sure that if that'd been me I'd have have been banging on about it all the time possibly? This comment on this vid is the first time I've seen him allude to it. Such a shame.

If you ate outside the shelter you would have to share with the midges.
The reason Iron Bridge lodge is scruffy is due to to asses who walk and don't give a sh*t about the environs and smashed the place up many years ago!

Falls of death? How many people do you know has died on that stalkers path? NONE.

Have you run across any/many adders?
Luckily I haven't run into any adders this year Kelley. I met one last year though in the Cairngorms. That was my first.
Plenty of Adders around there. Unfortunately many folk have a phobia about them. Seen at least 10 all solitary. That is the norm.

It depends where you get on, about 1 hour and 40 mins from Fort William or Inverness.
