SPOILERS FOR REAL MAJOR SPOILERS I believe it would have explained how they prevented Griffon’s death. I feel like it was the part where Sam was trying to escape the bunker by pulling on the hatch, and then it being opened anonymously by an outside force. I believe that Griffon’s death would have played out right after Judge Walker started choking Harper. After that moment, I believe Griffon would sacrifice himself to save her and everyone else, claiming that so long as Walker gets rid of someone, his unfinished business would be complete. Judge Walker would oblige, killing Griffon and leaving. The outside force letting Sam out of the bunker is the action that changed the future, because after Judge Walker choked Harper, Griffon would have sacrificed himself for her, had Sam not entered the room when he did and diverted Walker’s attention away from Harper causing him to stop choking her. Sam entering the room when he did is the action that stopped Griffon’s intended death from taking place. The reason why Nick Campbell, Griffon and Harper’s son rushed into the room to stop them from destroying the Time Machine is because he needed it to stay in tact because he had to use it in the future to free Sam from the bunker to prevent his father, Griffon from sacrificing himself as fate intended him to. And that is what I believe the underlying plot of Season 4 would have been.

Almost every show that I'm interested in gets cancelled. I hate that this show won't be continuing. It was so good.
