    Wow, those kids are soooooo lucky. Exposing them to opportunities from horseback riding, hockey, skiing, music, languages. Holy moly. That takes money and time. Good for them that they can do that for their children.

      Yes, they're super lucky.. I've always wanted to try a lot of different activities as a child but didn't had the chance to because my parents couldn't afford them. They could only pay for 1 so I took piano lessons for 10 years and I'm grateful for that. I'm not a pro or anything but I can at least play decently with enough practice

    I am a native Chinese speaker, I also speak English, Japanese and German fluently because of my overseas study experience. My husband and I will have our kids born and raised in Luxembourg, a tiny multilingual country, where Luxembourgish, French, and German are used as official languages. Imagining our kids will be able to speak 5-6 languages fluently sounds like a mission impossible, lol.

    And I thought I was lucky, lol.
    My grandparents' generation talked to me in Polish. I studied Russian & German in school. My ex's grandparents talked to me in Italian and I was expected to pick it up. And I learned ASL in college as I had a bunch of Deaf co-workers.
    Tetsu's kids must be fascinating. Clearly they blow me out of the water! They are so lucky. Except when they get older they'll probably be confused by people who are exposed to a language and somehow manage to not learn it.

    Kids who grow up multilingual all seem to have something in common in that all of them are born in countries other than the US to parents and families who speak more than one language. Those born in an English-speaking country usually grow up monolingual and are not as successful at learning foreign languages later in life.

    I would generally consider my English not to be very bad. I study the language and have been studying at a boarding school for a certain time. Now I have to say that when I examine your language skills, I see that you think in the language, have totally taken it and subconsciously use it. I would love to get to that point. My English meets the standards of C1 with a tendency towards C2. To gain more fluidity and confidence with the language I would very much like to ask for your advice. Perhaps you can reflect on what has helped you and help you to use English at the level of speaking and writing. Thank you very much, I appreciate it.
    What I probably need is a bit more time of exposure to the language) My brain and consciousnesses simply need more time to be completely accustomed to the language i am learning. Any advice on how to reach this?

    • @dyanahensel2494
      @dyanahensel2494 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think you should stop studying english (you are really good but you sound a bit formal) and simply find ways to use it and immerse yourself in the language.
      That's what worked for me and now I think very often in english and it is very natural to me, even though I'm italian. I speak it with many friends and with my partner because that's the only language we have in common. I also watch the news in english, use social media, my google searches are more often than not in english, I watch tv shows, play games, take notes, journal and whatnot. I am now learning german by using mostly english even when I need to translate something.
      So I think the best way is finding ways to listen, talk, chat/write, read daily. With the level you have already, it won't take long for you to be very fluent and start using the language subconsciously.

I mean, with that backgroud, you ought to be adapting to any kind of environement, wether it be North, south East West on the planet it should be great, no?

    Unlike most Americans who only speak one language that is English. That shows how the US wants to maintain its world domination and superiority status. No other country uses the British system even the UK doesn't use the British system, but the US still keeps the use of British system.
