I have the 4hp, slider and router table extension. I highly recommend their router fence and cast extention. Been a game changer in my work flow. 👌

I have been looking at getting a sliding table saw. I like you, will be primarily using it to cut heavy thick butcher blocks. I saw that Harvey has the Compass ST-1500 add-on attachment, and so I went to TH-cam to see if I could see any examples of it in use. Your video showed me exactly what I wanted to know, because this is the exact type of work I will be doing.
Thanks for posting. Your video was very helpful and informative.

I don't know if the term is right but same as my Harvey table saw, it produces some annoying whipping sound at the very end of every motor shutdown during the initial days of operation. I found the stock blade not so rigid (excessive wobbles) and the belt tension not what is required. I replaced the blade with a new and thinner Diablo and increased the belt tension. Now my table saw works beautifully.

That's interesting. I didn't have any issues with the factory blade. I regularly cut 12/4 Hard Maple and it works like a charm. Glad you were able to fix it.

Did you ever figure out why the rulers move in the sliding table fence?

Bryan looking at your table set up it looks your lbs wing with your sliding table. I know Harvey recommends removing lbs wing, so how did you mount the slide table? Did have drink and tap holes in wing the mount slide table?

Hi Tim, I used 8 mm by 30 bolts. I could have tapped the holes I drilled but it didn't seem necessary. I actually spoke to Harvey customer service and they said that they didn't recommend bot the slider and the wing because they felt it would be too hard to get all 6 pieces (slider, wing table, wing both composite extension) coplanar. I used an 6 foot level and didn't have any issues. I drilled the hole slightly oversize so there was a little wiggle room . I have run this setup up now for a coupe of months an d had no issues. There is amore detailed explanation in one of the videos.

Has the slider maintained 90 degree to the blade? Lots of complaints about that with the Sawstop version which almost looks identical.

I haven't had any issues but I will admit that because the vast majority of my cuts are 90° I added the handle from my Compass mitre guage to the handle of the slider just in case

I've used both. Harvey's is better by a long shot. Saw Stop doesn't even have positive stops, of course it's not going to be 90 due to user error. Harvey has positive stops with microadjustments. All their accessories are all around better in every way over Saw Stop IMO - miter gauge, fence, router fence and slider.

I noticed you cut off your saw with some sort of foot switch. Can you tell me more?

    • @jbcustomwoodworking4155

Actually what I do is just hit the off switch with my knee. The way I have it set up it is very easy to do and doesn't require me to move my hands or take my eyes off the blade. Always safety first.

Thanks for sharing this. One off topic question about your saw. I noticed when you completed your cut and shut off the saw, it made a kind of "thunk" noise at 1:49 as if a clutch was released inside or a brake was put on. Do you know what this noise is and is it normal?

    • @outlandish9233
      @outlandish9233 2 ปีที่แล้ว

I don't have a Harvey brand table saw, but mine does a similar "shudder" as it slows down when shut off.
My motor has 2 capacitors on it - one for starting and another for running. My understanding is that as the motor slows down, at a certain point the run capacitor "de-energizes", and a bit of stray voltage gets released back to the windings, which causes a braking effect on the motor, causing a thunk or shudder. If that is what's causing it, I would think it's nothing to worry about.
I'm not an electrician, so maybe others more experienced than I can enlighten or correct me if I'm wrong.

@@jac_builtWoodworks Can you tell me approximately when your saw was built? I want to compare to mine and call Harvey to discuss my noise.

@@MixingGBP It's the HW110LC-36 model and the instruction manual says Revision A 2021-03-18. Not sure if there is a plate of manufacture on the saw itself though. I would have to go look.

I just recently purchased a Harvey table saw. I am a little disappointed with the T tracks on the table top, I expected the bottom of the tracks to be smooth like the top but they look and feel like rough mill finish. Does anyone with a Harvey saw, does the tracks look that. I also am going to find out if their costumer service is good, the saw was damaged by the shipping company. So I can’t even put it together yet.

Hi. My tracks are smooth. The only build issue I had was one of the holes that I used to attach the right wing had damaged threads but I was able to clean it up with a tap. I found their customer service pretty good once I finally got through to them. I am in Canada and they were just beginning to ship here. They sent me the wrong saw twice and also assuming that all Canadians speak Metric they sent the wrong slider even though I clearly asked for imperial. Once I got past the customer service reps and talked to someone higherr the issues were fixed quickly. I am very happy with the saw just not the process of getting it. Try calling 888.211.0397 and asking for the Technical Service Manager.
