Partion, for politicians only. But for people, never ending pain and sufferings.we can only imagine but real experience for them was far more traumatizing.
Imagine all those people who had to leave their loved ones without getting a chance to say goodbyes, the passionate lovers, in their 20s, 30s, the love, the affection, the pain of losing someone you loved, the scar of that love, two bleeding hearts, longing to meet and hold hands and say things, the longing that never ends and haunts you every single day. It breaks my heart.
It is traumatizing to even listen to these stories. It was worse than just 2 countries divided on the basis of faith. It was friends, family turning against one another. My grandfather's sister and her entire family had to migrate to pakistan..and all of them were shot dead during the course of violence that took place. One of the best video I have ever watched so much stuff to learn how time changes everything and how politics have been tearing us all in the name of religion and still going on. Thank you quint project dastaan
Great work Quint. This Work was actually started by Sanwal Dhami. He is making documentaries of people who had seen Partition of India. He is uploading videos on his youtube channel "SantaliNama". He had uploaded around 450 videos. All of the videos are worth watching.
During the partition, both of my maternal and paternal grandmothers' families migrated from Pakistan to India. And, my maternal grandfather's family was killed when he was just a 5 year old kid.
Childhood memories are not forgettable by anyone... Thanks the quint for uploading such a valuable report. I am 25 years old, since last 3-4 years every time I miss my childhood very much..😥😢😥😢
This is one of the most amazing and emotional video ever You have done something which is very difficult to do by revising someone's childhood memories.
Childhood is the best part of one's life and the place where you spend that age always remain close to your heart, I lost my family and home in the earthquake can feel the pain of these people 💔
My great grandmother fleed from Pakistan along with a young boy ( my nanu) and a newborn ( nanu's brother) in 1947 while my great grandfather was already in Calcutta for business purposes. Before she passed away in 2010, she had periods where the only memories she could think of were of the pre partition era. While I have never been to Pakistan or had first hand experience of the partition, I still often wonder what life would be, had my ancestors lived peacefully in their homeland. NOBODY should have to go through this. 6 minutes into this video, and I had tears in my eyes. We can only imagine how emotional it would have been for those gentlemen and ladoes in the video. I wish my great grandmother was alive today to experience this. I really do. She deserved to be able to see this through VR or google earth satellite images or even video calls with someone who lives there. BRB bawling like a baby.
Both my grandparents were from India. We still have some family there in Jhalandar. My dada was born in Patiala, and his mothers father was the Governor of Patiala. His father was a famed literary scholar there and they still have his statue in the museum of patiala, while some members of my family still have ties with the Maharaja Patiala. The Maharaja had invited our family as state guests in 2005 to revisit our old house in Patiala. My grandfather is no more in this world, we lost him last year, but I remember no day gone when he did not mention about his childhood home in Patiala. We were still the few lucky ones I believe, who reached Pakistan in a better exchanged condition than most, but till date it aches my heart to see the eyes of many yearning to live those days back again when the ideation of this ugly partition has not even been conceptualised. In his last few months, my dada had dementia, and he had gone back to his house in Patiala, and he would not recognise the house we live in, in Lahore today. That was the most painful thing to watch, as it made my heart sink, to realise that I could do nothing to give him that lost house and childhood again.
Just heard about my grandparents experience of partition a few days ago. I felt the exact same emotions from the people in the video. Believe me, exact. It was like they copied each others' stories and mixed some words. Was heartbroken that day. Am heartbroken now.
Amazing....this is so important for current and upcoming generations to never forget the past which was resultant of some ones political interest...its not and was never about any haterate for any religion infact those people loved and respected being in mix cultured country...history always repeats but we should never forget learnings from it...thanks for such an initiative.
I really love quint, the reality with which you highlight the underlying issues is what makes you different and Even BEST out of the other leading news channels (who just shows cramp with fake tadka )
I have literally no words after watching this.. I hope there exist a future that we as a neighbors would live peacefully and appreciating each other success. People become more sensible and stop believing politicians who spread hate against each other. Peace out.
This video made me tear up. I am from Kolkata, my state has also witnessed a violent and messy partition. I cannot even imagine the amount of pain they went through.
My grandfather 10 Year old when it's happening & they always talk about their old village & home that was in Pakistan now & i also feel their pain when i listen from him
Did anyone else see the other documentary of that 97 year old man going from Pakistan to India? He got a passport and everything and they let him in. So it's not impossible to go back. He was welcome with open arms. Why more aren't just trying to go back I don't know, maybe cause they're scared, old, and to tired.
Just stumbled across this from a news article on the BBC website. It's amazing what you are doing/done here. Having first hand experience of this where my father and grand parents made the same journey as millions of others. My father has been lucky enough to go back and rekindle with his past. Walk the pathways and view the surroundings once again that he so fondly remembered. Great work.
Can't thank you enough for this. My grandparents migrated from Pakistan to India. They too burried all their wealth deep down in earth hoping to come back. Partition was indeed absurd.
My Nana and Nani migrated from Pakistan. They use to tell stories about their cities, their havelis, their friends, relatives, land and the horses they owned, etc . The horrors of those times . As I listen to these Uncles and Aunties I hear the words, the style of talking all so similar to the way my grandparents use to spread. My grandfather wh om we called Daddy would say , Jannab, shatranj, . Everryday Urdu and Hindi newspaper came to our house. I wish they lived longer to tell me more about their lives. I miss you Badi mummy and Daddy so much .
This is a divine gesture you did to them..you will be blessed with eternal peace and love for what you made these people experience..Hail Project Dastaan.. And i wish may there never arise a situation where i or anyone have to face, feel the trauma which these innocent people did.. Let's choose our leaders wisely.. So there may prevail unity and not partitions
This video is very emotional & heartbreaking for every Sikh & Hindu who's grandparents had to migrate! Thank you so much guys for making us realise the pain our grandparents had to go through ❤️❤️✨💫
There are many times my grandfather remember his old days spent in Pakistan and all the friends he had but that's all in his partial memory as he was really small .......... My both maternal and paternal grandfathers are migrants from Pakistan and the stories of them struggling to come to India with their parents and siblings is so heart touching and makes one feel so bad that how could this even happen with anyone

I have heard the never ending traumatizing tales from my dada ji who migrated to India when he was a teenager. He has even recorded all the stories in a self written biography What he remembers most is his old school, life, ancestry and family members who couldn't survive.

Why not even a single documentary mentions us Indian SINDHIS? We lost our whole land.
Same dude my pr dada dadi came from Pakistan to india during partition bcz they were forced to chnge there religion.
Hi! We do cover Sindhi stories. :)
@@muskanedwani893 exactly, my grandmother had to migrate to India in 1956 when their house was completely burned. But still I never see any Bollywood movies giving our ancestors tribute. The struggles SINDHIS did were massive.
@@Karan-ig8sm Bollywood movies are made on the sole purpose of making money. All these biopics made recently are marketed as tributes to someone or some organozation. its not. Bollywood is a money minting business. You cant expect them to be passionate about such stories.
I accept but Punjabis lost their land plus their people. My grandfather said Sindhis got chance to move days before but Punjab was burning, we punjabi lost our people. But in the end no cares about both the community.
My grandfather's entire family was killed by rioters but somehow he survived by help of a local Muslim man who then lived in a mosque of that area
My grandfather was always great full of his help....
All of my grandparents migrated from current day western Punjab in Pakistan to Indian Punjab. Ive heard horror stories of partition, but even more powerful were their stories of the beautiful Pinds they grew up in. They always spoke about their homes on the verge of tears. The amount of loss endured by Punjabi Sikhs, Muslims and Hindus is heartbreaking, just wish Indian and Pakistani politicians can one day see eye to eye and become allies instead of creating hate
My Nanu also migrated from Lahore when he was 7, he can also write in Urdu.
this was so much required. I bet even today if people in Pakistan or India get to know that somebody is visiting after 73 years just imagine the happiness. wish it would happen to sensitize the entire new generation.

It's india not Hindustan, which a part of mughal empire...
@Sabana Kanam may be for you but not for us , specially those who were belong to south of india, as that we weren't come under mughal regimes.
I can't leave my village, because every thing in my village is secret, it's soil is my forefathers ashes, this air gave first breath to my grandfather and took the last ,this water was once blood of my ancestors, this earth carried me from my birth and will keep me safe even after my death, so it's very hard to leave our village, and it's even very hard if we know that we are not going to return
All of the videos are worth watching.
thanx man for giving this information ...love u .
Not just sanwal dhami, also punjabi lehar and pind punjabi

During the partition, both of my maternal and paternal grandmothers' families migrated from Pakistan to India. And, my maternal grandfather's family was killed when he was just a 5 year old kid.
I can't even imagine what that would feel like. Losing your family .
In an ideal world, the phenomena of partition shouldn't happen at all.
"The partition was for goverenment".well said...
Childhood memories are not forgettable by anyone... Thanks the quint for uploading such a valuable report. I am 25 years old, since last 3-4 years every time I miss my childhood very much..😥😢😥😢
This is one of the most amazing and emotional video ever
You have done something which is very difficult to do by revising someone's childhood memories.
I'm so happy to see this..I've heard lots of stories from my grandparents ..my Nani still talks about her home in Pakistan..thanks for this video..🙏👍
From past 5 years Sanwal Dhami is reuniting old friends which were separated by Partition of India.
I really love quint, the reality with which you highlight the underlying issues is what makes you different and Even BEST out of the other leading news channels (who just shows cramp with fake tadka
)
I have literally no words after watching this.. I hope there exist a future that we as a neighbors would live peacefully and appreciating each other success. People become more sensible and stop believing politicians who spread hate against each other. Peace out.
PEOPLE MAKE A COUNTRY NOT LAND
Every people miss their childhood place if they migrated by willing or not.
This video made me tear up. I am from Kolkata, my state has also witnessed a violent and messy partition. I cannot even imagine the amount of pain they went through.
My grandfather 10 Year old when it's happening & they always talk about their old village & home that was in Pakistan now & i also feel their pain when i listen from him
An ideal world cannot be reality but can be close to reality just like in physics
I wish subcontinent must be unite one day inshallah
Did anyone else see the other documentary of that 97 year old man going from Pakistan to India? He got a passport and everything and they let him in. So it's not impossible to go back. He was welcome with open arms. Why more aren't just trying to go back I don't know, maybe cause they're scared, old, and to tired.
Release a documentary of this whole journey
Fantastic work from Quint ♥️

This video is very emotional & heartbreaking for every Sikh & Hindu who's grandparents had to migrate! Thank you so much guys for making us realise the pain our grandparents had to go through ❤️❤️✨💫
Great work. Please love humanity and stop spreading hate. We are all human first.
I wonder how tough it wud hv been for them to leave their motherland their home and everything behind for the sake of their life.
Peace is all we want 🙏🏻
At the end of the day memories matter... My nanu lost his parents during partion. we can only assume how much pain he has....
the last sentence just descibes how he felt the pain of his grandpa...
Absolutely, in an ideal world, the project like this should not have exists. Love from another part which is now called Bangladesh
I didnt expect to feel so emotional after watching this
Lots of lots of people shed their life n blood to get the freedom but today the country is in hands of those who stood away n never contributed in the fight for freedom n today teaching the meaning of Patriotism n citizenship..even they are the only one responsible for the partition then n even today they are tirelessly trying to get the country n its people divided now...Happy Independence day remembering for those fought hard to serve the freedom on the plates of coming generation

Loved it, made me think of all the stories my granny shared with me of her time and her parents time back in Pakistan and how they lost so much due to partition, their uncles and families who died because they just couldn't leave their home. They built it with their heard earned money, promised to die in their home. God knows when will these power hungry politicians understand the pain these common people have to go through for something they have never done, its sad to see it happening again in India :'(
Well done. More power to you. You are doing good work, the world needs more people like you

Thank you the Quint for uploading such a productive video.
Helped a lot in understanding the history of our country. Spread love
Marvelous Work done by @Quint Team...
Beautiful....my grandfather would have loved it. He moved to West Bengal from Bangladesh during Partition.
My Nana(mother's father)used to have a lovely lifestyle with wealthy parents back in Lahore before partition. They were very rich, had a nice house and the siblings would play together. But during the day of the partition they had to leave everything including their riches and came on board a train to come to Delhi. It's really sad what the Britishers have done and the fact that we are still in denial on the fact that we are all humans and that religion doesn't matter.
Thank you, Project Dastaan. ❤️
Bravo!!💐 Jai hind..Quint great work👌
IT WAS INDEED A PAINFUL PARTITION...........NEVER ENDING PAIN AND SUFFERINGS
Wow! I wanna see each of their stories... I hope they all r happy wherever they are now
Awesome work quint a very unique way to wish all of us a happy independence Day 🇮🇳
The best part of partition was that it avoided a civil war at least
So I must say it partition was way better for me and my state
Excellent gift on Independence Day.
why do people ignore the partition of bengal all the time?? my grandfather came from noakhali which was one of the worst partition affected areas even gandhiji had to go there to restore sanity. He also spend 15 august 1947 in a calcutta in a partition affected area and marked the day as a day of mourning. It seems the world is forgetting that blood also flowed the east part of the country, lakhs were homeless and thousands disappeared.
This is what salman want to show us in the movie BHARAT
Proud to be a fan of salman
Love u salman
I also want to see my mother's and grandmother's house in Barishal and Dhaka in Bangladesh.
Same . My grandfather is also from Barishal. I just want to know their history. They left the land in bare foot .
