Let me introduce to you our 3rd Tutorial and it is all about How to Print your Photo on Mobile Phone Case- Phone Case Sublimation
Sublimation is a process of transferring pictures/images to a sublimated material through heat.
To make this possible, everything should be designed for sublimation. The idea is very basic, Design-Print-Transfer but we have to make sure that we are using the right materials and tools to get better results.
Inks, Papers, and Phone cases should all be suitable for sublimation. It only means that not all phone cases are designed for sublimation.
In this tutorial, I will show you a detailed procedure of Mobile Case Printing - Phone Case Sublimation from creating the file in the Adobe Photoshop to how to print it properly and up to the proper settings of your heat transfer machine.

Hi!! This video is very helpful. ❤️ i just started my phone case business and I struggle with my printer. Did you have to adjust the colors of the image before printing to get the exact outcome as the one seen the screen? Because i have the Epson L310 and the outcome always come out as darker and it makes pastel colors dark/neon if i dont adjust the image before printing. Am i doing something wring or do i need to get a new printer? Hopefully you can answer!
Hi katie, i thought i replied on this few days ago, but i dont know why it didn’t show up here. Anyway, i experienced the same thing and wasted lots of sublimated materials. I suggest to calibrate your printer and your computer, i did it manually, time consuming and i also wasted couple of mugs(i used mugs for calibration because it is kore cheaper) but worth it. I adjusted the color using curves, just drag it everytime i need it.

Hi Michael, you can use an ordinary deskjet printer but NOT ALL ordinary printer can be converted to sublimation ink. most of the printer that i know that can be converted are Epson and Sawgrass. I am using an Epson L805, not because it is the best but because this is more affordable and available in UAE. i recommend to visit a sublimation supplier nearby to your place to check some options.

Hi Ash, honestly speaking, I am not sure with the brother MFC-J995DW, i assumed we can use any deskjet printer, because for sublimation, what matter most are the Ink, Paper and the material that you will sublimate. These 3 should all be for designed for sublimation. but still, it is much better if you could ask your ink supplier if you can convert your printer. - good luck.

hi, to get the best result, you must use sublimation ink and sublimation paper.... phone case should be sublimated material as well.. even if you use subli paper and ink if your phone case is not sublimated.. it won't work.

Hi Ergest, we need a sublimation paper and sublimation ink and sublimated mobile case, otherwise it will not transfer properly.

Hi Juliana, im not sure with the model, much better if you could visit a Sublimation ink supplier and ask them if it is compatible...most of the printers use for Sublimation are epson but I’m not sure if all the model can be converted.

Hi Krystal, not sure if i get your question right, sublimation is very tricky in terms of color, it is really hard to match or get the exact color but at least you can enhance your image to make it a little bit closer. please refer to my other video tutorial (th-cam.com/video/Cfa1xMk05_U/w-d-xo.html) regarding the manual calibration and i hope it would help you.

I have heard multiple opinions, and some people think it is a waste of money to buy special sublimation paper. What do you think? I also put sublimation ink in my printer, so it should work, right? Virginia Maeder thank you for your feedback...yes, sublimation paper is necessary otherwise, your printout/result will be dull in color. Even if you are using the right paper but you printed it on the wrong side/back face of the paper, the result will be dull.

i think flat iron is fine but i dont recommend because you won't get the right color. we need a consistent temperature for the heat. otherwise the color will be dull.

Hi Xewo, yes you can use any type of flat bed heat press and any brand, mine is just an ordinary chinese brand heat press but it works and does the job. at the same time you can use it as well for tshirts and other flat sublimated materials.

Hi Jeline, any printer will do as long as you're using a sublimation ink. i prefer Epson because it is more cheaper but good quality as well.

Hi jaylin, there are lots of printers, epson or sawgrass. Mine is epson L805, I dont have any issue with it and I think it is reliable, the only thing is it is only for A4 size, i will upgrade with diff model with A3 size eventually, but I think it is a good start for beginners.
Aside from printer you still have a lot of things that need to complete, so for me, you don’t have to spend much while you’re testing the water...
I’m getting an Epson ET-2710 as soon as it comes back in stock where I’m getting it from. I’ll let you know how good it is when I get to try it out. :)

Hi Alexis, if you already have an image, you can use microsoft word and print as per the size. it doesn't mattter what application you use. what important is your paper, ink and phone case are for sublimation.

hello, my sublimation prints keep coming out with little black dots when you look really close and when i put the heat press to put it onto the phone case it makes it even more noticeable. do you know why and how i can fix it?
please check your printhead first. check the nozzle if it is ok...
Try do a print head clean. It’s more noticeable after the press because the heat makes the whole print darker :)

my heat press is from china. looks like yours is too. i'm using textprintR paper and it recommends 400 degrees. however i have played around with multiple temps, pressure, positions and i'm still not getting the perfect outcome like you are. you recomendeed 200 degrees and 120 seconds do you think that will work for me? i've had my heat press for a little over 5 years.thank you!
it is more on trial and error.. i assumed you are using celcius and not fahrenheit. i cannot confirm if my settings will work for you or not. my ink, paper, printer and heat press are different from what your're using. so there're definitely some differences, but you can use it as one of your option....send me a pix of your result and let see if i could suggest something. send me the file as well."jathromano@gmail.com"

@@kyllejhonflores3997 better to take the actual dimension of the case(metal sheet) on you have it to make sure that you are using the correct size, then add 2mm extra each sides to make sure that you will cover the whole case.
Hi!! What's the difference in Epson Matte printing and Epson Ultra glossy in printing?
Hi Kylle Jhon, it normally matters depend on your paper..in sublimation i prefer to have a epson ultra glossy, to give more ink in my paper then i calibrated my printer using this profile.
On 2:54 it is epson matte and you replied you put epson ultra glossy. May i know which is more preferable?
Ah ok, maybe this video was before i calibrated my printer..for me, i calibrated my printer using ultra glossy and seems more ok than epson matte. But as i said. It will depend on your paper and ink.. check both the type and use which ever will give you more precise color.
I have an issue with getting the image to transfer. I have an Epson 2720 and converted it to a sublimation printer and I have sublimation paper I put my heat machine at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 1 min but nothing transfers to my phone blanks. I also make sure to remove the plastic but still nothing.
Hi Patricia, Try to increase the time, is your phone case designed for Sublimation? if it still didn’t work, there might be an issue either in Paper, ink and phone case....these three should all be for sublimation..or maybe you’re also printing on another side of the paper..that are the posibilities that I am thinking at the moment... keep me posted...

Hi, im in uae, blank cases cost maybe 70 pesos. You can maximize the paper as long as you can. Just make sure to put at least 2mm allowance.

Yes, you have to be more careful in getting an images on the net. Though if it is personal use.. i guess it is ok.. try in freepik.com..

Hi Vidhi, you cant try to select the image using marquee tool, then inverse(CTRL+i) then press the delete button.

Hi Jasmine, sorry for the late reply, I'm using photoshop but you can try any program to edit your picture, then print it using microsoft word, what important is to resize the image as per your phone case and then print it. dont forget to use sublimation paper, ink and sublimated phone case.

Hi Mohammad, no specific numbers, it depends on the ml of inks and type of the picture. Though it says 1k+ papers but of course we cannot get track on it.

I suggest, you better go to the nearest supplier so you can avail a warranty. all my printers, inks and materials comes from the same company. you also need to build a good relationship with them so they will always help. you in any troubleshooting that you may need in the future.

When I print and then sublimate the black colour starts turning navy blue and then all these bubble effect starts to appear. Not sure what I’m doing wrong 😑

(th-cam.com/video/Cfa1xMk05_U/w-d-xo.html) it will definitely solve your issue... for your the bubble.. it normally because of the settings.. try to increase the temp. or sometimes it is also because of the Metal sheet.. in this case, we dont have any choice.
