Finally! Someone else who watches and reviews anime who's finished Legend of the Galactic Heroes! I haven't seen a large creator on YT talk about the series and with Season 4 being released and finished of Die Neue These yet we didn't get a dub like we did of Seasons 1 through 3, it feels like the series isn't getting the love it deserves and CR is exposing that by not bothering with dubbing the series any further.. It's so amazing, the Original and Die Neue These are brilliant and I'd suggest the series to anyone who loves Space, Politics, and Strategy!

I am someone who goes back and watches "older" series all the time that I have never experienced and some of them have been my favorite anime ever! Hopefully this encourages others to do the same
I'm glad you feel that way because I'm the exact same way, I spend a lot of time each year just watching stuff from my backlog that I've been meaning to for years, and I find a lot of those things end up being a lot more interesting and fun to talk about than a lot of the ones that actually came out that year. Plus like you said it's just fun to shed some light on some older stuff that probably won't be in the limelight again.

You've convinced me to watch Revue Starlight. I had always kept it in my PTW, but that final section was so good, I have to see it for myself now. That section was easily the best thing I've seen from you and honestly from any other anituber. The way you described the movie without spoiling anything was incredible, I was jumping up and down from excitement and awe even though I've never seen a single episode of that anime before. Even made me a bit emotional 😢

In 2022 I watched a lot of old school mecha shows as I started watching anime in college 3 years ago and I wanted to watch some of the classics. And now, Gundam is my favorite anime, and I can’t go back. It just resonated with me so much. Mecha is also my favorite genre now

Great editing and I think it's a fun idea to do a top list of just whatever you watched during the year, regardless of official release date - just a much more interesting and unique watch. Love Space Dandy, Megalobox Nomad, Shirobako, & Fruits Basket + happy to see the deserved One Piece love. Still need to watch the Revue Starlight film despite the blu-ray sitting on my shelf for months at this point haha

Yessir! Honestly the Revue movie too, not necessarily underrated but just really underwatched from what I see on MAL. Hopefully more people check it out over time cuz man I can't imagine watching the series and never watching the movie.

I was really looking for somebody that talks about the Revstar movie as it instantly become one of my favourite movies ever and I'm really glad that you found it as impactful and great as I did. What an awesome video, the last part was very good and even tho i disagree about TV series being weak(i thought it was peak),but the words you said about the movie were perfect and i can't explain how much i love this show, i am not shitting you when i say that it's the only series that made me literally fall of my chair from sheer excitement and amazement while watching it. Man, Nomad is so great, I was blown away with its overall quality. Anything you could've imagined a Megalo Box sequel would do was done differently - and I love it so much more for being brave enough to do so. Give it a chance, it's absolutely phenomenal.
I'm in the exact same boat, even with all the praise I truly wasn't expecting it to go in the directions it did or how well it was able to do so. Such a great series.

Great video! A very interesting and unique list and the way you passionately talk about some of these shows made me want to try them.
Based on the fact you like trying new things (even if they're targeted for children) I can't recommend enough Pokemon Sun and Moon. If ypu are into either slice of life, adventure, comedy or shounen action, Pokemon Sun and Moon merges them all into a great experience I didn't find anywhere else. Everything you said about Precure is true for Sun and Moon as well and it's a bit of a shame most anime fans don't open themselves up for these "kids" shows because some of them are truly amazing

hi mr phenomsage, i'm just curious where you're getting the instrumental version of the songs you're putting in these videos. are these like official releases? or did you guys manually tune out the vocals in adobe audition perhaps? if it is, it's really fucking clean.
If you're talking about all Anime up to 2022, my favourite will be Getter Robo Armageddon (1999). On the second place will be Fate Kaleid Liner Prisma Illya Movie: Licht - Nameless Girl (2021). The third place will be Naruto Shippuden (2005-2017).
2022 was easily one of the best years for anime in recent times. There was something amazing from almost every genre and also the most 10/10 scores I have given out in a single year. 😁

I can see you like action, music, and sakuga. Might I suggest to you the Symphogear series, a 5 season anime original about a pair of girls using the mystical Symphogear to fight against the noise, monsters capable of turning Humans to ash with just a touch, while singing alon the way. It is so much more than this but I’m afraid saying anything more will spoil the best parts so this is all you get

It really doesn't, I don't think anything like LOTGH will ever be made again, which is sad but it also just makes LOTGH itself that much more special.

FYI There are a few other MIllion Live Manga series you could try out too. Its a mix bag of Gag manga and story manga. They story ones are Blooming Clover, Amairo no Asterism, and Brand New Song.
The number one was why TH-cam have give me recommendations. I was wonder when it will end. To see it in number 1 was a great journey.

It's interesting that all Love Live anime made by Sunrise. I'm surprised Sunrise were able to do 2 Love Live anime last year and we get Yohane anime this year. Love Live get Gundam treatment. Note, Nijigasaki actually never plan to be anime.
Meanwhile, all 3 new Idolmaster anime get different studios. I'm kinda sad that Million Live and Shiny Colors are full CGI. I hope they look great. To be honest, I want to see full performances without dialogue in between the performances.
I hope if shiny colors anime do well they will make another season with 2D because Stray light,Noctchill and Shhis is very very popular but I think I'm fine with CG or because I wait so long
Before these recent Idolmaster anime, the franchise was also handled by one team at A-1/now Cloverworks (they just handled the Akebi's Sailor Uniform series if you watched that). Million Live is being handled by one of the strongest CG studios in the industry so I'm not too concerned about that one although a great 2D team would have been nice, but Shiny Colors is definitely a lot more disheartening, I really thought the original team would be the one to handle it. In general though I think being handled by different teams/studios is fine since you can really tell with Love Live how much the over-production has affected them, Nijigasaki and Superstar both only look really nice in the performances.
Yea I always think if shinymas get an anime it'll be 2d but it's 3d by poIygon pictures, I've heard that knight of Sidonia quite good but the recently anime they make is not impressive, I wish that they will manage the story of all shinymas four unit in ss1 to be good
- but talk about the story, shinymas story is good because every unit/idol has their own unique storytelling if anime has only 12 ep they'll gonna have some trouble in storytelling

To think there are good idol shows that isn't the best idol show which is Zombieland Saga, you might actually convince me to start going down that rabbit hole
There's definitely a lot of trash and not so good series among them, which is part of why I think it gets the stigma it does (although what genre doesn't lol), but I also think there are some that are truly worth it. Definitely give some of the ones I mentioned a shot!
half of show here i started/seen other season, but never finished kekw. About LoGH i seen like 25 eps but after that i got problem with animation that just got worse, so just stopped watching it, i should finish it. About demon girl next door and new game and Megalobox nomad, i seen 1 season of each series and just never had a chance to watch season 2. Same goes to MiA but for MiA i need mood to see so much suffering. about Fruits basket, i seen first 12eps on seasonal slam when that was a thing on your server, but still didn't find a will to watch it till the end....
Lastly about top 3, idolm@ster is still waiting, same like Yama no susume, and first one is actualy something i seen and yeah its so great.

I've pushed Idolmaster aside after my disappointment with Cinderella Girls. The new CG won't get my attention, but if you think Million Live is this good, I will certainly give the show a shot. Encouragement of Climb is moving several spots up my backlog list now.
U149 will be nothing like the original Cinderella Girls series, trust me. The original Cinderella Girls anime is honestly an outlier in general from most Idolmaster content. The 2011 anime, Million Live, and U149 (based on the small amount I've read) are the best examples of how joyful and fun the series can be. Hope you enjoy YNS!
@@PhenomSage I hope so. I really fell in love with OG Idolmaster and LL Sunshine, after giving idol shows a shot, but I think CG expected me to already know it's characters and I haven't played any of the games. Without that prior background, I just didn't connect with it.
Happy to confirm that the first 3 episodes of U149 is not the continuation of mediocrity that was 2015 CG. It was genuinely amazing in the levels that 2011 anime had reached. I'm not sure that it will stay this good but I'm so happy we get a true spiritual successor to the OG im@s anime.

lol I dropped Delicious Party, I really tried to like it but it was just so boring and I didn't really attach to any of the characters. But yeah Heartcatch is amazing

Solid list. I only really disliked CSM because I'm a manga elitist. And I dropped Megalo Box on episode 3 or 4 and have no desire to watch the sequel.
I liked Revue Starlight but it was too cryptic and too many things went over my head.
Revue Starlight is definitely one of those things you have to not look at so literally and just kind of "feel" what it's trying to say, especially in the movie. That can work for some people, and for other people it won't. I'm actually usually not a fan of stories like that but I thought Revue, the movie specifically, was clear with what it was trying to say in a way that really impacted me. Also for Megalo Box I don't blame you for dropping it tbh but the second season is honestly nothing like S1. Honestly if you're never going to finish S1, I would say Nomad might even be worth just watching standalone.
