What a total beauty. I can see why you'd have seller's remorse but at least it went to a good home. I'm sure you'd get a message if it came up for sale too
Hi Jon a great video and I remember you picking this one up and was such a great honest car so pleased it is being enjoyed and cared for the GE must be very rare now never remember them being common when new all the best Daniel
Quite a rare version and in good nick…. I hear your thoughts on this one. And yes, you should have kept it (and reduced the fleet a bit so that it would have come out a bit more… says the bloke who has struggled to keep his collection down to two cars)
John Knight's £1200 offer seemed pretty cheeky considering how much better the car looked after all your hard work. Maybe you weren't in a haggling mood. Never mind, you have plenty of other cars, but you should have kept such a nice original model.
@@JonCoupland Oh yes, silly me not paying proper attention. You then, seeing it and being overly loved up about Protons, overpaid onsidering the work needed - easily done. It's like going to the supermarket whilst hungry. 😛
I always thought the hatchback version of the Proton was very well proportioned, but it seems all your collection are saloons (?). Do you think that the saloon was more likely to have been owned by some old boy who looked after it for a long time whereas the hatchback was more a family car or workhorse so got run into the ground earlier? I recall from reading CAR in my youth that George Bishop liked the Proton when most other writers were dismissive of them, it turns out he was a wrong 'un so that is perhaps not the best recommendation.
They saloons are a lot more common than the hatchback still. Possibly you are quite right why. I only like the saloons. The hatchbacks don't do anything for me 😁👍
Worked for Proton in the late 90's,the 1.5L was a good laugh raving about, pokey yet decent on fuel.
Very good engine
Nice ,Jon 👌... its strange how sometimes the low spec cars are more appealing, you just don't see many ..👍
I think it's just the part of me that likes to save the survivors and the underappreciated
Jon that's a beauty, i love the Proton ever since i owned one, miss mine. The engines are great, they just keep going.
Very good engines! ☺️👍
Love to see the washing in the sink saga
Mud flaps, wheel trims etc
Got to be done 😂
Yes in simple words you should have kept it having put so much love into the car
I agree. One day it may come back. Who knows
salam dari Malaysia🇲🇾😊👍
😄👍🙏
Fantastic car. Would love to find one in the new year
I'm always on the hunt 😂
@@JonCoupland Iv just joined the proton owners group. Broaden my prospects 🤣
What a delightful car, it’s basic trim makes it all the more charming. One you should have kept in the collection Jon I think.
I agree. Should the owner want to part with it I will have it back
Always good to see a Proton video
More to come! 😄
What a total beauty. I can see why you'd have seller's remorse but at least it went to a good home. I'm sure you'd get a message if it came up for sale too
Absolutely - fingers crossed
Very surprised that you sold that one😯
Me too 😂 the owner really really wanted it
sorry I'm late and merry Christmas
Welcome to the party 🎆

I reckon there are only a few left. This one was very rare with all its blanking plates etc. glad it's being enjoyed
Wow. That's a Newport (S.Wales) registration….. I've been to the very garage that car was likely first registered at! They sold Ladas, too!
Certainly is. Came from Philog garage 😃👍
My dad had one when i was little he sold and bought Impian(waja)
Awesome! I've got my Impian now too ☺️

One day 😂
only you in your own mind knows the answer Jon
😂 if I had my way ... Id keep them all
Would have been nice to keep but at least it’s gone to a good home. We forget how basic cars could be back then.
It's a shame but I'm glad it's being enjoyed 😄
What conversely is the highest specification you own/owned or Proton imported?
I own the last Proton 1.5 SE LE here in the UK 😄👍
I didn't think you would be capable of selling a Proton!
I'm seriously regretting it
@@JonCoupland I don't blame you. But at least it has gone to a good home and is being looked after and enjoyed!
Absolutely
kalau kat malaysia susah nak jumpa all stock macam ni semua dah di mod
Sadly so
I would like to see a video of Malaysian cars especially the Perodua Nippa and the Proton Jumbuck
Stay tuned .. there may be a Perodua coming 😉
Triple Valve? 2 inlet one exhaust?
Yes 😁👍
@@JonCouplandUnusual for a 4cyl engine to have 12v.
Very much so. A unique selling point of the car
@@JonCoupland I remember when these were everywhere and ive never forgotten that badge. Even Bullseye gave an Aeroback away as the top prize.
doing itsd best rover 400 impression from the front.Really nice shade of green looks darker thean rover BRG, Edit to add, or is it blue? hard to tell?
It was classed as a green and in certain lights it was like a jewel green. A lovely car

It was it's market value at the time. John Knight was the original owner 😄👍
