Ferrari already challenged Red Bull back in 2022 (they were even ahead in the early part of the season) They did suffer from porpoising but that didn't stopped them from being competitive. What hampered them in 2022 was their signature Ferrari clownmanship, Leclerc folding under pressure, and the Mercedes lobbied TD which obviously had a significant effect on their car performance. This "improvement" is just a return back to their early 2022 competitive form, with most of their glaring issues (porpoising and adapting to the TD) pretty much sorted out. Hamilton's introduction to the team in 2025, however may create another period of disruption and could offset their upward momentum. Ferrari's cars are pretty much built around Leclerc and Sainz' input, and considering Lewis' adaptability issues with ground effect car, (even on W15, a more conventional car built entirely on his preference), Ferrari might suffer new issues that could arise during Lewis' period of adjustments as he acclimitize with his new environment.
I appreciate your attention to detail in these videos. F1 is a lot more interesting on race day if you pay attention to the upgrades and subtle differences made between races. That said I don’t have the time to do this amount of research and I’m very thankful for your time and dedication. Thanks to this channel this is the most informed I’ve been since I began watching the sport.
A bit optimistic to say that carlos had a real shot of catching up to perez when after carlos passed leclerc the gap to perez was about 10 seconds and quickly closed the gap to about 6-7 secs but then the gap was quickly restored and maintained at 9-10 secs till the end. I love ferrari doing well but i thin red bull still have more in the tank than they are letting on.
Truly impressive how Ferrari has improved their tire wear and race pace. Perhaps to the point that they given up some quali pace, and I think Leclerc is struggling with tire temp in quali as Max did last year. I think RBR has given up some race pace for quali pace. I'm a Max fan but it's great to see Ferrari challenging RBR. And if Sainz or Leclerc become the WDC, I wouldn't be too unhappy. Like them both and Fred is my favorite TP.
I really appreciate these videos and find them very educational. You are the only F1 youtubeer that I watch the long form videos of. Thanks for the knowledge!
Admittedly I had my doubts with Ferrari getting rid of "Waldo" and installing Fred but it's turning out to be a great move by Ferrari......for once. Fred's getting it done. Still having a hard time with the Hamilton thing. Maybe Lewis has a picture of Benedetto Vigna with a goat.

I saw some comments in other f1 videos that ferrari improved but are still 20.0 secs from Verstappen. They didn’t know, Ferrari didn’t bring any big updates in Japan and still ended up 3 and 4 from 4 and 7. The SF-24 has so much to improve and we are still 4 races out of 26 (iirc).

Amazing vid my brotha! Fred Vasseur has been my favorite TP since AR. He is the real deal and people love him. They also respect him because they know he doesnt play. Carlos and Charles have been unlocked for it. Hell, Ferrari itself has beem unlocked. That man is GREAT! Cant wait until he gets his hands on Lewis.
For a complete new start, Ferrari hands down most impressive of all this year. Cars good for both drivers in the race, some quali issues to iron out regards to tyre warm up. Consitent on 4 very different tracks and no real updates as of yet except an unused rear wing. Forza Fred
You just forgot one simple fact, Sainz finished 21 seconds behind Max. That is huge. You're underestimating Red Bull big time. Max set the fastest lap on used hards and Ferrari couldn't even keep up with Perez.
so... Suzuka is a track perfect for the RB20. Both RB20 had brand new PU's, while Sainz was on his 4th race on it. the RB20 floor and aero was upgraded compared to melbroune, while the SF-24 was not.. Also, sainz did the fastest lap just before max, on used hard, and was onl 1/10th behind, a few laps before... ANd despite ALL this , he only finished 20sec behind, driving in dirty air, while max had clear air all race long. ponder this..
I'm also hoping Ferrari offers a challenge to RB. I like LeClerc, and Sainz is growing on me, so I'm fine with either of them doing well. I'd also like to see Lando pull off a race win or two this season.
Great video! You think you can do a video on the new 2026 power unit regulation. Speculations say it’s going to be a lot slower and heavier. Thoughts on if F1 is going to the right direction.
As a ferrari fan, I'll be happy with them being second, as long as they're consistent and have competent strategies throughout the year. Hope for a few more wins, but so far, they seem to be heading in the right direction. Looking forward to Imola.
@F1Unchained Definitely. The title drought will continue another year, probably, but they have greatly improved with competent strategy calls, and the tire degradation issue seems to be fixed. Taking the constructors title fight into the fall/end of season would be nice, but we'll see how the upgrades go.
We are all hoping Ferrari's upgrades in Imola will shave off a couple of tenths of a second so we can have an interesting championship - probably not for the driver championship but at least for the constructors.
I think that Ferrari needs only a little bit more downforce, then I think they can fight every race for the win and Mclaren needs a little bit more straight speed to come closer to RB and Ferrari. Thanks 😀
Thanks for the great analysis 👍 I agree, if any team is gonna take the fight to Max and Red Bull this season, it can only be Ferrari. I have big hopes for their Imola-package, as they are taking their time with it, considering it's been in the windtunnel since mid-February. I hope they can take a substantial leap forward and us fans get to enjoy a real championship fight. The upcoming two races should already be better for Ferrari, as they feature fewer high speed corners and more low- to medium speed corners, in which the SF-24 excells.
That tyre management during the race was superb. Good job Carlos and Charles! The team did everything they could in Japan, with what they had to work with, so proud of them! 👏 ❤🇮🇹 Forza C² ❤❤💪🏽💪🏽 💚🤍❤ Forza Ferrari! 💚🤍❤
It is definitely very interesting. What makes me really happy is seeing that some circuits already are heavily in favour for Ferrari making any upgrade for the future very interesting. Can't wait to see some fights.
Ferrari has the most powerful PU on the grid and the most important features to win a season is top speed and medium to high speed corner performance. They just need to get the high speed and medium speed performance in the right window and barring mistakes of their own they should win.
Let's wait and see. Maybe Red Bull also brings big updates? The problem with the gap is that not only you have the close the gap but also the newly developed gap from now till your update comes. Difficult to estimate. Please don't over hype them. Time will tell.
In terms of Red Bull, maybe Ferrari boys can consistently race with Perez and then beat him on pace. In terms of Max, the Bookies have more or less stopped taking bets on him winning.
Points wise, Ferrari has double the points after 4 races this year compared to last year (120 vs 62, even counting 11 points from Baku sprint last year). Let's hope Imola upgrades gets them within 1-2 tenths of RedBull.
If the Ferrari upgrades in Imola actually work, we may have a competitive season for the first time in years. For the sake of the interest of the sport I really do hope they work. It would be nice to see a dogfight for P1 for the first time since 2021.
I do think the Driver’s Championship may already be out of reach for the other drivers but if Ferrari get their research and development spot on, then it’s everything to play for in the Constructors’ Standings!
I think the only reason ferrari has better tires than Red Bull is because I’m sure Red Bull driver are told to push a bit even tho it will hurt the tires a bit. That’s the reason why they were also 20 seconds ahead of them
I hope Ferrari will cath Redbull pace, not only because I am a Ferrari fan, but for the sport, I will be in Imola hoping for a competitive race! (but also because I'm a Ferrari fan, let's do this)
Big improvements from Ferrari as I’m a life long Ferrari fan..but don’t be thick! Red bull is light years ahead so don’t make it sound close it’s a universe apart.
i think after all upgrades are done in imola (the first set of major upgrades for most teams) it could either remain the same in terms of performance gap between the teams as it is now or i see mclaren overtaking ferrari in performance. Only reason being ferrari is on average like 0.100 seconds faster than the mclaren and depending on which of the team has better upgrades, mclaren could either overtake ferrari in performance or ferrari leaps away from rest of the field, thereby being even more closer to redbull potentially leapfrogging them.
@@giuseppemaggio5894 yeah that i know, as in ferrari is superior to the mclarens but wouldnt it make u think, given mclarens impressive upgrades last season, closing a 0.100 second (per lap) deficit wouldnt be that far fetched for them (mclaren)
@@sleepypixie8828 and their long corner issues and their drag issues, rn im basing my 2 possibilities, one being mclaren overtaking ferrari based on last seasons upgrades they brought back in austria and 2nd possibility of ferrari being close to, equal or ahead of the rb after imola upgrades cause their jump during winter break was substantial as well as they promising a lot in terms of gains for the imola upgrades. Anyways itll be interesting to see whats gonna happen with the top 3 teams this season haha
Leclerc had the best tyre deg but was 20 sec. behind. Nevertheless, they absolutely can challenge RB soon, but can they challenge Max? I haven’t see him going to the limit in a long time, except for the first couple of laps in a race
Yeah right ,first see than believe Like Redbull will have updates too But for now Max will reign supreme Of course it gets a little boring this way But for now Ferrari is just the best of the rest nothing more nothing less Max the best of luck for the rest of the season
Yes. Ferrari has improved quite a bit but ........ unfortunately for all the other F1 teams, RB is still managing every race, so we have no idea what their limits are. Yes. Ferrari did get a 1-2 finish, in Australia, but Max did not race due to brake failure and Checo was unfairly punished after Q3. I the race, before Checo damaged his floor, he clearly has the fastest car. Based on this seasons statistics, if Checo did not damage his car's floor, he would have won the race.
i'm a bit confuse here because the tyrewear of Ferrari is truely amazing and even better than the Redbull one, however their pace is slower. So let's assum that during a race Ferrari are going 95s per lap and losing 0,1s per lap due to degradation in the same time redbull is going 94s per lap but losing 0,15per lap due to tyrewear. that means the redbull are fater at the start of the race but Ferrari is slowly cathing their pace during the GP the problem i see here for ferrari is that at the moment their pace become faster than the Redbull one they are allrady in the Pit window. that explains why Ferrari is still 20s behind bei the end of the race. so if they can improve their pace while conserving thier tyreweare advantage they will challenge the Red Bull and beat them
what we have to understand here about Ferrari is that, as they eat less tyres than the others, knowing how good the car is at the moment, clearly Ferrari has more over head room than Redbull. which means Ferrari could bridge those 3 tenths easier than Redbull adding another 3 tenths to the field. at least with the current package. if Redbull at some point land another concept (zero sidepods or else) and this thing is well born with a real improvement, that will change the game. but for now, Ferrari has more potentiel than Redbull. being tyre friendly is a HUGE benefit.
Not sure tbh , upgraded Ferrari will definitely close the gap but they not as good as Max ! He’s worth half a second alone . Remember Red Bull haven’t even had the running to say weather the updates made a huge difference as they lost running in FP2 which left them compromised in long runs .
Ferrari is going to have some challenges in China for sure. Its all about finding the right balance of all aspects, and the much improved floor is going to hurt the tires in thicker (colder) air. More downforce = more difficult to get the tires up to operating temperature, plus, I still believe that the pullrod rear suspension is going to hurt rear grip. I think 2025 will be much closer, Ferrari is about where the RB18 was in that now that the platform is well balanced, They can begin to refine that good balance. And then of course, you cannot expect RedBull OR McLaren or Aston Martin to remain static either. Mercedes is hopelessly lost. 😀
Lets not get carried away 3.5/10 to Verstappen is still some way off and we have to remember once Max gets several seconds ahead he turns down the PU to protect reliability. So technically the gap could be significantly more and we’re not seeing it. Many other teams will have upgrades around Imola & even Toto sounds more confident of where the W15 will be improved. All said though I did say/ on this/other chanels- the Ferrari looks really quick and really compliant just from what I saw on filming day at Fiorano and pre season testing in Bahrain. I’m unsurprised it was good on its tyres in Suzuka.
Ferrari suddenly changed the car into a race car from a quali car and he's out there qualifying at 8th and what not. This quali god allegation is getting out of hand, they gave him a tire eating maniac of a car that can get peak performance in one lap this past 2 years, ofc he's gonna stick in the front row..
Yeh I think you can blame certain presenters for "he's the fastest guy over one lap" business. Certain things they say seem to stick. He is quick no doubt in dry quali sessions and with the one lap tyre muncher as you said bound to be quick, although he is great to watch but can go a while without beating Carlos at times, and every time he does get pole it gets a bit out of hand at times when the fastest guy over a lap spiel comes out again. For a guy many rate so highly I've been saying for a long time he hasn't beaten Carlos by that much really in points bar 2022, lost in 2021 and 2023 was circumstantial and could have gone either way. I reckon Carlos is underrated or Leclerc a little overrated tbh. Both good but Charles has been error prone at times, not great in wet quali at times but I'm not ragging on him just want to give Carlos his due (which many finally are now). Still, fastest guy over a lap is not as bonkers as "the street race king" or whatever they proclaimed Checo to be, despite not looking why his results round (some) street tracks were decent ie. mainly when Max had issues. Makes me Wana laugh and 🙄 at same time every time they say it. Baku I'll make an exception for and did beat Max on merit there.
@@TorqueFormulaWon It would've been 2-1 to Carlos if not for that drain cover at LV, and please don't get me started with this street king allegation..
@@BruceWayne-nr3nl Exactly. Other bad luck ensued for Carlos too like on Australia where a 5 second penalty became a drop out of the points (from fourth iirc) due to the red flag and added on afterwards etc. Street king indeed. Yeh enough said.
You noted that the Ferrari drivers are the "best pairing on the grid". How will Hamilton be able to improve this pairing or did Ferrari sign him for other something than pairing? I am glad Ferrari is catching RB. What are your thoughts if lapped drivers were removed from the track similar to cross-country skiing and biathlon?
Frankly, our perspective is tainted by the result from Australia, where Max had an issue. Without that, it would have been all wins for Red Bull. If you look at it, they ended up with 3 one-two finishes, so I don't think Ferrari will pose a threat.
Ferrari may challenge Checo but not Verstappen. I dont think we have seen what that car can do with Max in it. He seems like never really push. There is plenty in the tank.
@@stevepiccinnin1157 yup.. just like last season and the season before and the season before…. Ferrari has had the fastest car several seasons and still fucked it off. Leclerc will mess up when the team doesn’t but maybe sainz can put together a run…we will see. 🤷

It’s not far off believe me. It’s one solid upgrade away
They have the best engine in terms max. HP. I think if they can sort their aero game they can beat RBR.
Agreed my friend
i think after all upgrades are done in imola (the first set of major upgrades for most teams) it could either remain the same in terms of performance gap between the teams as it is now or i see mclaren overtaking ferrari in performance. Only reason being ferrari is on average like 0.100 seconds faster than the mclaren and depending on which of the team has better upgrades, mclaren could either overtake ferrari in performance or ferrari leaps away from rest of the field, thereby being even more closer to redbull potentially leapfrogging them.
McLaren are bringing updates to miami. Confirmed by stella. They really need to improve slow speed cornering
It will be interesting to see
Ferrari has a big advantage on Mclaren. We have already raced on 4 different tracks and Ferrari has always been superior.
I think Leclerc has the race pace to challenge max but he is struggling in Quali a bit surprisingly
Still believe Max will win the title but this is looking like a serious challenge this time around🤩🤩
Agreed my friend
*Charles, Daniel, Carlos + 2024 = 🏆🏆🏆*
Yeah right ,first see than believe
Like Redbull will have updates too
But for now Max will reign supreme
Of course it gets a little boring this way
But for now Ferrari is just the best of the rest nothing more nothing less
Max the best of luck for the rest of the season
Well... they have 20 second to catch up basically.
Has Hamilton made a banger of a move 😨😨😨😨
Ladies and gentlemen, picture this, Lewis moves to Ferrari exactly the year they catch up, that would make him the goat of F1 driver moves ever
They will and the change will start next year.
Not even a Ferrari fan but I would love to see them win the chip soon. If they could get Lewis his 8th next year that would be absolutely menta
2025 and yet again last year of the regulations may finally lead to a 2 team battle. FIA can further drive this by some key changes 🤞
That’s true
Ferrari does NOT have the S-duct this year... the air goes somewhere else!!!
i'm a bit confuse here because the tyrewear of Ferrari is truely amazing and even better than the Redbull one, however their pace is slower.
So let's assum that during a race Ferrari are going 95s per lap and losing 0,1s per lap due to degradation in the same time redbull is going 94s per lap but losing 0,15per lap due to tyrewear. that means the redbull are fater at the start of the race but Ferrari is slowly cathing their pace during the GP
the problem i see here for ferrari is that at the moment their pace become faster than the Redbull one they are allrady in the Pit window. that explains why Ferrari is still 20s behind bei the end of the race. so if they can improve their pace while conserving thier tyreweare advantage they will challenge the Red Bull and beat them
what we have to understand here about Ferrari is that, as they eat less tyres than the others, knowing how good the car is at the moment, clearly Ferrari has more over head room than Redbull. which means Ferrari could bridge those 3 tenths easier than Redbull adding another 3 tenths to the field. at least with the current package. if Redbull at some point land another concept (zero sidepods or else) and this thing is well born with a real improvement, that will change the game. but for now, Ferrari has more potentiel than Redbull. being tyre friendly is a HUGE benefit.
Not sure tbh , upgraded Ferrari will definitely close the gap but they not as good as Max ! He’s worth half a second alone . Remember Red Bull haven’t even had the running to say weather the updates made a huge difference as they lost running in FP2 which left them compromised in long runs
.
Mercedes is more focused on media, Ferrari is focused on their car
Yall said the same thing about Suzuka
I talked about tire wear
Maybe this year max will run away with the championship, but I would love to see ferrari take more race wins.
This is definitely a possibility
Sooo RB will be like 7 to 8 sec Infront of Ferrari mmh yeap the upgrades did something... Something is better than nothing
The car looks plain but it works.
Best pairing? Doesn't redbull have three 1-2 finishes?
Talk to you again at the end of the season, A Max fan.
As said before Ferrari is only two major upgrades away to catching Redbull🙂
Frankly, our perspective is tainted by the result from Australia, where Max had an issue. Without that, it would have been all wins for Red Bull. If you look at it, they ended up with 3 one-two finishes, so I don't think Ferrari will pose a threat.
Ferrari may challenge Checo but not Verstappen. I dont think we have seen what that car can do with Max in it. He seems like never really push. There is plenty in the tank.
20 seconds back dude. Not gonna happen this year
That’s not as bad as it looks
Hahaha. I know what you mean, but its still pretty bad. Ferrari won't close the gap until 2026
2 Gs in aggressive
This sounds great if Red Bull puts together no upgrades for the entire season😂😂
Ahh it bothers u feeling Ferrari breathing down your neck doesn’t it
@@stevepiccinnin1157 yup.. just like last season and the season before and the season before…. Ferrari has had the fastest car several seasons and still fucked it off. Leclerc will mess up when the team doesn’t but maybe sainz can put together a run…we will see. 🤷
