WRT the hershey's chocolates, the taste you're describing is probably the scalded milk part of the process that's hershey's invented because they wanted to save cost in making chocolates. a lot of people not from the states say it's a "vomit" taste, and that's technically correct since it's one of the same chemicals in both (from the milk scalding process and from vomit), but since most americans have eaten hershey's chocolate more than they've vomited they associate the taste with chocolate and it's just the "characteristic taste of hersheys" to them. one of the things that's happening when you're burning chocolate is that you're also scalding the milk content in it, I assume. so it would technically be correct to say americans just grew up with/got used to the taste of hersheys and now most international (milk) chocolate tastes like it's "missing something" to them, but anyone not from the states who has hersheys is like "this tastes like vomit"

As someone who grew up with like a million raspberry bushes in his back yard, I would like to say why I believe it's always "Blue Raspberry". Red raspberries has a slightly negative stigma for giving horrible digestion problems when consumed in a fairly large amount most people don't really know about that but those who do try to avoid them. Black raspberries (a.k.a ripe raspberries) would look to similar to blackberries which while similar are so much more bitter. They can't make them purple either because that is too similar to grape's color. So I think blue is picked for being similar yet distinct from purple. Also love the vid!
I think that the reason we have blue raspberry is that the original red dye got banned by the FDA and there was a blue dye available that wasn't really tied to a flavor. It also keeps it easily distinct from cherry, strawberry, and watermelon flavors.

It’s easy to lose the perspective as an American that most food we have here isn’t better tasting, it’s just more. We put more salt in salty snacks and more sweet in sweet ones, and for people raised on more subtle flavors and tastes, American snacks seem overwhelming.
