What's wrong with you people out there Seth's a genius, listen carefully, give his music the appreciation it has earned. The lads been at it a while now
Oh, what a splendid open air scene!I just have to go there one day. Thanks for uploading, came here because of the Midosmer Murders and found a new favourite :o)
Can someone tell me the name of the instrument Seth is playing please? It is as simple as a 4 string guitar? Or does it have a particular name? Thanks.
Folding hills and a silver lane, A weeping maid, an evening in the rain, Roses ramble and the trees hang low, We sit and drink to all good friends we Know. 'Tis I my love who'll leave in June, For twenty five days no more. Now mark that spot from whence I came It's for king and country I'll come back Again. The first season passed without news. Two weeks gone and still no autumn Tune. The leaves they weep for the loss of their Spring, The dimming days they serve no better King. 'Tis I my love who fought for you. For twenty five weeks no more. Now mark that spot from whence I came It's for king and country I'll come back Again. The wind blew in a few small drops of Rain. She followed them 'til her tears ran down Again. I'll do as much as any young man may. Please…
+Bethany Southworth yeah pretty sure that's a baritone a uke and not a tenor guitar: the scale is too short, the body too deep and too small for a tenor guitar. I'm a uke player so I must be right! LOL
Seth's famous as a Tenor guitar player. Mind you, the Tenor's a versatile mongrel of a guitar; can be tuned all manner of ways; traditionally it's CGDA. Mine is GDAE like an octave mandolin but Seth uses GDAD and DADA too. It can also be tuned as a Uke or even like the top four guitar strings - Tenor guitarists are tuning tarts, unlike ukulele players who can often be extremely conservative. I turned up at a uke-in once with a uke i'd tuned mandolinishly gDAE (it was re-entrant tuned all the same). I may as well have brought in a mangey cat and only narrowly escaped being burned for my heresy.
Pol's Eye - Yes he does indeed play the tenor guitar - but this is definitely a ukulele - it doesn't sound like a guitar at all. I am a uke player, and this sounds like a uke to me. Also, the neck/scale is both too short and too thick - a tenor guitar has a very slender long neck. The body shape and depth also looks wrong to me. The final nails in the tenor guitar theory coffin are the head stock and tuning heads. As for tuning - you may be right about uke players being conservative - some do tune differently - I have seen ADF#B - re entrant, and I play linear tuning - GCEA, sometimes linear FBbDG which sounds nice on my Mahogany tenor with the right strings. I have noticed that many uke players aren't what I'd call "real" musicians - no offence meant there's nothing wrong with playing for fun and not wanting to learn the ins and outs of theory etc. - but at workshops I have found many don't even know about tuning: so their reluctance to accept your Mandolin style tuning could just have been bemused confusion (if there is such a thing - lol)
honeychurchgipsy6 It's a tenor guitar for sure. The scale seems right for that but it has a small body. You can also clearly hear it's steel strings. He has a capo high up the neck which makes the sound bright resembling a ukulele too you maybe.
Perfection with Seth at Minack theatre in Cornwall. U.K.
For King and Country, RIP Queen Elizabeth II.
Seth is one of the best, seen him many times.
Folding hills and a silver lane, a weeping maid, an evening in the rain. The imagery!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Where else can you sing Cornish folk songs than at Minack Theatre. Perfection @sethlakeman

Pure class sends a shiver down my spine each time i hear this.
This song brings back so many bitter sweet memories of a lost love. From tears of happiness then to tears of sadness and regret now ;-(
One of the, few, artists who is just as good live as on record.
