- Nikon have just released a new firmware for the D700.
It upgrades to A:1.04 and B:1.03.
You can go straight from any old firmware to this version, no need to upgrade to previous versions first.
It seems all it adds is support for the new AF-S NIKKOR 800mm f/5.6E FL ED VR lens. A lens which most of us can only dream of, however its good practice to keep firmware up to date.
For UK owners, you can download the firmware below. Other countries, please visit your own local Nikon site.

Want to learn how to use manual mode on your camera, I will explain how to set a correct exposure using your camera's exposure meter and mode dial.
It may seem a little late but I have just bought a D700 - my first 'full frame' DSLR (prices come down in tech to all those who wait!) and appreciated this video. I actually sent my D700 off to Nikon for a 'service' so hopefully it will come back with the latest firmware. I just wanted to add the 'A' and 'B' explanation which puzzled me and is not mentioned in this video. Apparently 'A' is 'camera operation' and 'B' is 'image processing'.
thank you for taking time to make the video. i appreciate it
Thank you very much I was having a hard time but its almost finish. Thanks again.
This was very helpful, thank you!
Thank you
Hi, thank you so much for sharing the video. Could you tell me please where I can find the previous video? My camera is set at A1.00 and B1.00 When I have done this will I be able to use a larger sized compact flash card 128 gb so far I can only use 8gb
Very helpful, thank you.......
Thank for the video. It is helpful but since update does not bring anything but possibility of using 800mm lens I think it's not worth risking to turn your camera into brick if something goes wrong during update.
Do you have any recommendations on software I can use to recover photos on a CF card which contains tons of photos I took in mexico< but when I plugged it into my computer (iMac) it will not open or download the images. I can't view them (either) on my camera. The message I get on the camera is CHA or CHR (A looks like an R).
I use a program that's bundled with "Testdisk", it's called "Photorec". I have a PC though. Not sure if there's a Mac version. Maybe try the recovery with this free software on a PC?
It gives me the option to update, but then when I click ok it does nothing.
Edit: Nevermind...I'm dumb, it was the bottom left OK button like you mentioned in the video, lol
I take it there is not an issue upgrading from firmware version 1.01 to this version?
I'm curious about you formatting the CF card on the computer and assume it's okay to format the card in the camera then transfer the software on the computer?
I forgot to turn off the camera after the firmware was done downloading, will that mess anything up? It seems to be fine...
I wouldn’t have thought so, as long it was actually finished.
@@TomPhotoix yeah it was done, but after it’s done downloading it prompts you to turn the camera off and I didn’t, I went directly to the menu... thank you for the reply
Where do you go to get the software updates?
