@@Blockhaj I thought the m/45 was an evolution of the Hispano Suiza...but maybe it was only the calibre 20x110 that was adopted from HS to Bofors m/45. As I see, the m/40 with 20x145 was more sutible as AA and AT, were the m/45, m/47 was more suitible as arm in airplanes and vehicles.
Sweden built their own modified 38t tanks on license during WW2. When they became obsolete, they were later rebuilt into apcs since it was a pretty solid, well liked chassie. It is written the small turret the Gunner occupies and operates from is gas tight and later the film mentions that all gasses produced when firing are ejected overboard. Does the mean to imply that the vehicle interior is "Positive Pressure" to ensure NO outside gasses, as may be employed during combat in a NBC environment, is employed whenever the vehicle is in operation? The reason I point this out is because the empty shell ejection port doesn't seem to be sealed/enclosed when NOT in firing operation. Small but important consideration for the crew/occupants. The 20mm should be the newcHMG/LAC for vehicle mounts instead of the 12x7 ,the Ma Deuce is a great weapon that can be used but for the 21st century it needs some assistance and vehicles equipped with the 20mm will be a great benefit. A RWS on the AMPV using a combo 20mm plus aaws (Carl Gustav) will be a lethal and effective weapon system especially for Infantry support in urban areas.
Out of curiosity, how hot was the cartridge after it was ejected ? Wondering if it can ignite something if enough of them fall onto someone or something inside the hatch from the heat after firing.
It really depends on the cartridge. Small ones heat up faster, bigger ones don't. But I would say most cases after being ejected would be around the 350-400° F for a few seconds, brass tends to cool down very rapidly.
Funny how Sweden has been a neutral country since arounfd1775, but makes some of the best guns especially low-medium calibre AT and AA guns! They sent the Finns loads of 47MM AT guns during the winter war they made the Russian tanks look like mincemeat after hitting them.
Being neutral doesn't mean you don't need an army. Quite the opposite, you need to show that you can defend yourself without the protection of more powerful allies. In reality, during the cold war, Sweden would have sided with the western powers if it came to war between east and west. Everybody knew this, but the official policy was non-alliance. Neutrality (as defined by international law) is something you can only declare in relation to a de-facto conflict.

Yes it is. When the tank was out of service, it was reused as a base for the first tracked APC in the Swedish armed forces. This was both a experimental project as it in the same time was in service in the army. The PBV 301 was later replaced with PBV 302.
It was only planned as a temporary APC until the PBV 302 was ready. The chassi was based on an old (bad) tank, and the tracks were a constant source of problems. The didn't want to stay on. The cannon was a 20 mm canon from an airplane, but the rate of fire were downscaled for the 301. Crew compartment was much to small and the gearbox demanded that you had a left foot capable of pressing down serious amounts of pressure.

@@jacklarkson4505 the 40mm was too big and cumbersome to mount in armored combat vehicles before Hägglunds and Bofors developed the turret to the Strf9040 and Lvkv9040 in the late 1980ies where the updated 40mm/L70 gun was fitted with tripple slot single stack magasines and flipped the gun mechanism upside down. Prior to that, only the Lvkv m/41 and the VEAK prototype had been fitted with the 40mm/L60, in the m/41 as a manually loaded and aimed SPAAG, and in the VEAK in a motorised radar assisted SPAAG prototype that never entered service.
Adam Goatfish they're cheaper to use versus using a full fleet of dedicated transport aircraft and are quieter. Might also be disposable due to cheapness.
Gliders had actually pretty good record during ww2, they were cheap and unlike paratroopers the soldiers were together and not spread out during landing and could also land heavier weapons than just paratroopers. Yeah there were accidents, but gliders were pretty important for several battles. However when helicopters came they pretty much had served their purpose.
It is even a Swedish narrator. Possibly he has British parent, probably went to a British boarding school, but the Swedish accent just about shines through if you know what to listen for.

the gun is compleatly outside of the vehicle there is no interior conection to the fighting compartement from the gun (source: im a swede)

This is ATV 301 (PBV 301) It was a miserable machine. It's predecessor PBV 302 was much better and was used for 50 years.
