    -0.05 is nothing, you need at least -0.3 to account for conversion overs

    I mean is ok, sponsorship and everything, but why always messing with the stereo image on the master buss, and addressing eq on buss and not individual channels I mean idk am I missing someth

      cuz mixing and mastering engineers are diffenert people in the big leagues thus each of them must do their thing 100% and take into account everything within their reach. and btw eqing on master with wide bands might be a gamechanger sometimes. think of it as a final instagram filter

      Cause it's faster sometimes and gives same results. But then again, that looks more like a Mix Bus processing chain, not like a Mastering processing chain.

      @@Nirossen appreciate you watching! Yes I’m aware lol, I usually have de-essing there in the chain, but I guess on this song there wasn’t any sibilance, so I had soothe to do general taming to be done on different frequencies outside of the “de-essing” frequencies. Made this video fast in one take, with no prep. if I could redo it, I would have!

    0:30 what's the difference between Soothe and Gulfoss?

    • @arkarmoethouk2445
      @arkarmoethouk2445 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Gulfoss is way more subtle and more suited to make tiny changes on the master.
      Soothe2 is a bit more versatile and can be used on heavier stuffs.
      Imo, Soothe2 is way more superior when it comes to resonance suppression and Gulfoss is better at balancing the spectrum on the master.

    • @charly__
      @charly__ ปีที่แล้ว

      @@arkarmoethouk2445 lovely explanation, thx!

    • @madsonit
      @madsonit ปีที่แล้ว

      @@charly__ Gulfoss is amazing for what it's meant to be used. The only comparable plugin is the new alternative in Ozone 10. It adds more than it removes and in a really smooth way that you cannot really put your finger on. You can't really say what it does, but it sounds better. Soothe is mostly hit or miss for me... it's the best for sidechain and low end multiband style eq/comp, but terrible on vocals to remove harsh resonances as it removes a lot of the soul in the recording. What's even worse is the hype around it for this kind of situations and then beginners use it thinking that's the way to do it and... you end up with squashed vocals and don't know why.

    • @mixedbycolt
      @mixedbycolt  ปีที่แล้ว +9

      Here’s what it says when you ask google (Although I learned this in audio schools) btw for everyone who reads these comments and want to learn correctly- “De-Essing during mastering should occur before other forms of processing, and should definitely occur before any additive forms of processing that may amplify sibilance. This means that de-essing during mastering should be one of the first, if not the first insert in your mastering signal chain.”
