    I can understand how stressful it is to get rid of cars. I hate seeing any good parts crushed... I know how hard it is to find parts for my '54 Plymouth Savoy, my '69 GTO, my '89 Mercury Grand Marquis, and my '71 Lemans convertible. I used to LOVE wandering around my local junkyard, finding good parts for those cars... Better you than me, crushing those cars. If I had a yard, I would be in real trouble- not wanting to crush any of them! Thanks for another great video!

    • @MXguy95
      @MXguy95  5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      It just bothers me , I know that someone somewhere needs that part or could use this for something. But at the same time I just dont have the room to save all these older cars. Gotta make room for all the new inventory that moves quicker !

      This is Chicago; if you ever need parts for cars like that, come up here. I see them ALL the time around here, they're common as dirt. We probably have enough for the next couple hundred years or so! xD
      But seriously, good luck on those others, especially that Savoy.

      @@MXguy95 a friend of mine used to charge a dollar a whack and five bucks for unlimited destruction. Every time he would scrap a car he would invite people over for car destruction. Had a assortment of hammers, sledgehammers, picks, axes and Torches. He would put a few extra buck's in his pocket. Wish we would have filmed it. Would have made some good content.

    Question for you. If you are just holding onto a particular vehicle for it's motor or transmission, why don't you guys remove the motor or transmission out of the vehicle, tag it/label it and store it, and then get rid of the rest of the vehicle. That is what my local junk yard does, it had an indoor building with shelving racks, and on the racks are engines, transmissions, wheels, doors, etc. They remove the parts they want to sell off of the vehicles and crush the vehicles, so they lot is not full of cars sitting there for months or years waiting to sell a part off it, meanwhile they have room to bring in new inventory, by doing it that way.

      Great advice!

    • @carbuff81
      @carbuff81 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I mean, am I right, doesn't that make perfect sense? I mean I know they have a storage building that already is packed, and they probably don't have anymore room to store more engines and transmissions right now, but that would be the ideal thing to do, to just strip the cars for the saleable parts and then crush the rest of the car and make room in the yard for new arrivals that way.

    • @coolpeople4287
      @coolpeople4287 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@carbuff81 I don't have a junk yard man, but, it seems like the way you described would be moving "it" twice. Just leave it in/on the car and if somebody wants it we only gotta deal with it once. In addition no need for special buildings and such to store all these items we removed.

    • @carbuff81
      @carbuff81 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what you are saying, but then again if you are trying to make space in a yard and you are only holding onto a car just for it's engine or trans, just remove the engine and trans so you can get rid of the car.

    • @coolpeople4287

Also their last SUV was a sad pile of crap rebadged 1st gen Chevy Equinox, really just a turd of an SUV from GM saddled on Suzuki.

    Best Honda I ever had was a Pennsylvania built '95 Honda Accord US Wagon with the 2.2 Vtec and uprated everything and Prelude running gear. Drive was like it was on oiled silk, so smooth and quiet yet that 2.2 litre engine and gearbox could pull a full sized car trailer loaded and carry 5 people and stuff in the boot too and it was effortless. As it was originally for the JDM market, it had every conceivable gadget imaginable including electric headrests, some weird glowy pole on the bumper for parking, a rear camera and seats like a posh persons best sofa they were so comfy and it did easy a good 35 to the gallon. I still want a V12 Alpina kitted BMW 750iL, street sleeping supercar ftw.

    the Chrysler 3.7/4.7's are NOT Mercedes designed engines, not even in the least. you can look them up anywhere and it'll almost always say its a Chrysler design. just because Chrysler back them was partly named Daimler, doesn't mean they have Mercedes parts. not sure who keeps spreading that around but i've only heard it from some random mechanics or word from other people, never any legitimate source I've seen has said that.
    Mercedes had their own SOHC V6's and V8's but they have nothing in common at all (and are 3V not 2V). the PowerTech engines look to me like Ford Mod motors than anything, except less reliable (typically).

      kingkobra it’s neither. It was a clean sheet design that started before the Mercedes takeover. Not long after Chrysler took over AMC, the 4.7 project was started.

    What a mess. These junkyards are forbidden in the Netherlands. Junked cars have to be disassembled and good parts go into a store where you can buy them physically or on line. The rest of the car is destroyed immediately by a specialist and certified (all for environment and health and safety reasons). The dissasembly is paid for when you buy a new car (I think 500 dollars or something).
