    I honestly can't believe Katheryn didn't make the list at all. Swapping as a fast action is huge. That card has let me combo almost every match I've done

    • @PeachtreeCorners
      @PeachtreeCorners 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      I used to play her, but 2 dice to be able to do that once a turn isn't necessary. Against fast-tuned decks you probably get 1 legitimite use, and there is the 0-cost card that lets you do that switch. And even that is circumstantial.

    • @ZeroDennis
      @ZeroDennis 2 ปีที่แล้ว +33

      @@PeachtreeCorners I think it highly depends on the party you're running with. Chars like Ayaka and Kaeya are INSANE with Katheryne. Especially since Ayaka with her talent equipped reduces the Dices you need to swap her in by 1 making it a free fast action, with a buff giving you cryo infusion with +1 cryo dmg

      @@ZeroDennis Using Shenhe+Noelle in a deck is better for swap focused deck. Shenhe cards is so underrated when it literally let you pay your chara switch forward using leftover dice from last round on top of basically super fast mid action switch (The change happens after you attack which can protect your main DPS).
      One of my deck is a very rapid superconduct switch with Keqing+Kaeya+Fischl and this deck can easily dish 10+ damage in first 2 turns like a joke.

    • @Gennosuke1983
      @Gennosuke1983 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I don't like some of the cards this guy is mentioning to be honest. Why would you use that card that lets you swap for free ONCE, when you can use the support card that lets you swap forever for free. Same goes for Katheryn like you mentioned, it's way superior to the Noelle card that let's you swap fast once.
      Furthermore, destroying summons is great, but there are decks that don't have summons or don't play them, or you don't get the card when they play them, so that card is dead a lot of times. Same can be said about the Itto card, you need to cast it THE TURN your character dies. If you don't have it then, it's a dead card.
      And why I agree that card drawing in nice in most games, it's not the case in Genius Invokation. I'm always sitting with cards in hand because I don't have dice to use them. I'm using 2 Strategize myself, but that's more than enough. Sometimes I have 7-8 cards and no dice to use them. And sacrificing them for the needed element is useful, but you still have the issue of limited dice.
      And finally, I'm surprised he didn't mention equipment cards like weapons or artifacts. Some of them are really broken like Aquila Favonia healing you 2 times or the Adventure artifact that heals you 2 when you do a skill. And these work really well with the Blacksmith and the Alchemist cards that let you equip cards for free by just sitting there

It was literally the first card I put out of my deck because yes against NPC where you can look at their team before it works ofc but against real players you dont know if they even have a single summon or not...why would you deck such a conditional, possibly dead tech card? Jade Chamber is imo the best location card, better than Liyue Harbor Wharf or Favonius Library (although these are nice too). The best travel companion however I feel like is sometimes not needed because of Elemental tuning. If you have a good balance of card draw and dice manipulation alongside with direct combat effect cards, I often found myself not needing to just manipulate 2 dices, rather I'd need to create more (which is Paimons other card that he listed).

    It's very interesting how some cards don't say anything at first glance but you then you can find some use. There's this card that switches character after you attack, which can be very clutch when you risk to be killed and you have invocations, but one more attack can kill the opponent. Kill, automatically switch, end round, you damage and apply an element and your new character can start the next round with a reaction.

  • @Meese12
    @Meese12 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    Who would've guessed Ayaka Freeze is ALSO busted in the TCG. I run a fast-switching near unkillable comp of Ayaka, Xingqiu, and Mona. Mona is just a good applicator all around, Xinqiu has a low-cost burst, and Ayaka procs his burst with her cryo normal. Forces opponents to do nothing but switch and they aren't able to play unless they brought a comp that either forces me to swap or has fast swapping for themselves.

    Noelle + Ninguang are a really good pair, you can start with ninguang to set her wall and then switch to noelle, this allow you to easily build Noelle burst because it is really cheap (only 2 energy) allowing you to greatly increase you damage dealt an reducing the amount of dice needed to attack, put them with Rodheia and Lotus Flower Crisp and that deck will tank ANYTHING even a Bennet + Diluc deck

    2:34 Itto support card "I haven't lost" has weakness though. Great in general, but maybe you want to avoid to use it against opponent with summon oriented.

    Paimon and Ellin are probably the most cost effective cards.Paimon gives your 6 Omni dice in exchange for 3 and Ellin reduces the cost of skill by 1 dice which is really good for early game when you are trying to setup the cards while trying to get some element reaction set pieces

    • @infine-8222
      @infine-8222 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Eeeh. Ellin reduces skill cost on subsequent use. For Ellin to be useful you need to be in a situation where you have resources to use 2 skills in a row. Since skills typically cost 3 dice at baseline, it's 5 for 2 with Ellin, and having 5 dies of a same element (and of the element you actually want to use) early on without cards that affect your dice income is very unlikely. Alternatively you have normal attacks, but those aren't action efficient at baseline unless you equipment/Noelle burst. So in the end Ellin is actually hard to use early on. She's good when you have already set up some skill spam by forcing dice RNG with Jade Chamber or something, or increasing dice income via Liben/Paimon/Reso/Whatever.

    I prefer the 2-cost Paimon over the 3-cost one, even if you do get more Dice out of the 3-cost one. The 2-cost is basically a cantrip converter, and works instantly, where you have to wait for the 3-cost ones. If you're running the likes of the Parametric Transformer and Liben already, you probably don't need that much dice generation, you just need conversion.

    Honestly surprised Jade Chamber isn't even an honorable mention here. I don't know if this is different in other card games, but in Yu-Gi-Oh!, resource management is key. The ability to reduce the random factor is what sets the "broken meta" decks apart from the rogue or casual decks in that game.
    For that same reason, I would also keep an eye on the NRE card as this game (hopefully) develops over time. Even as it is, I think it has a lot of potential (haven't been able to test it, because I don't have it). It draws a food card as soon as you play it, as well as when you play a food card once per round, and thinning the deck makes you more likely to get the cards you want when you draw. As it is, it allows you to have easier access to healing options and food buffs like Lotus Flower Crisp, Jueyun Guoba, and Nothern Smoked Chicken, and thins your deck out. That's already a lot of potential value out of just one card that cost only 2 black dice to activate, but the moment better food cards are released, this has the potential to be broken.

Pair it up with "Changing Shifts" and you can switch the active character instantly at no cost

    I'm coming back to share 3 other food cards that can be helpful. The 1st is good if you're not running 2 characters of the same type: it costs nothing and reduces a character's next normal attack by one unaligned dice-or you can use it for tunning. Another is the pizza: heals 1 on use and at the end of the next 2 rounds. The last is Adeptis (spel?) Temptation. Yes, it costs 2 black die, but increases burst damg. by 2.

    So, I'm still a beginner, but as a beginner I have some other card suggestions for newer players since some of the cards in the list are a bit more complex to use than others imo, and, although the cards in the vid are probs better than the ones I'll suggest when used properly, you'll usually get more use out of others overall as a beginner. Once you've played enough you can probably make your own strategies that may use the cards in the vid more, also I think some of the things mentioned in the video were said to be mainly for going against other players, but I'm gonna be focusing solely on NPC battles since they should probably be you're priority if you're also new to TCG.
    Instead of Changing shifts (reduces cost of switching by 1) I'd suggest Leave It to Me (lets you switch without immediately ending your turn), although overall switching isn't great unless you know what you're doing, being able to switch and still attack afterwards is much more useful then reducing the cost. This may not be true with more experienced gameplay or against other players, but it certainly is for new players where you quite often have spare energy, meaning Changing shifts isn't as good, but may have a burst available on another character that can kill the active enemy.
    Resonance only works if you have 2 or more of the same type of character in your deck, and since you can only have 3 characters I'd suggest not bothering with resonance and have 3 different elements, this is because when you're new you have so many NPC's to duel and, although for the most part cards are very similar per region, having the diversity will make it less likely for you to go against someone you can't defeat just because of your characters, which would then mean you'd have to make a new deck with different characters specifically to counter that 1 enemy, which is a pain, and you'll have to do it multiple times. E.g abyss mage shields ONLY take damage when you cause a reaction with them, otherwise they're basically invincible. Also you will not actually be sacrificing any damage output by not using resonance because you can add other cards which are better suited to your build.
    Food can actually be incredibly useful when you don't have a full understanding of all the cards in the game, remember you can sometimes view what moves your opponent will play, which will show you the damage, food can help you survive a hit you wouldn't have before. Although in the short term helping one of your characters survive 1 more turn doesn't seem great, it can help you deal the damage you need to then destroy one of their cards, it also allows you to use your burst if you have it instead of dying because when you die all that energy disappears. Don't bother with the normal attack reduction food though, it's pointless, lotus flower crisp and the healing ones are more beneficial.
    Timmie is great, he costs nothing and in 3 turns you'll get a free omni dice. Although this isn't as good as some of them, being free and giving an omni dice is still pretty good.
    The Bestest Travel Companion is also really good, you can choose any 2 dice and make them omni, even though it says the cost is 2 of any, it immediately refunds them both as omni, so you basically get to switch 2 of your bad ones for omni for free.
    As I mentioned, swapping characters isn't usually the best idea unless you have some sort of plan, so I wouldn't suggest Liu Su (if you SWITCH to a character with NO energy, they gain 1 energy, lasts 2 turns), instead I'd suggest Iron Tongue Tian (A character who does not have MAX energy gains 1 energy, Active character is prioritised), the reason I think he's better overall is because one of your characters will always gain energy from it, and it prioritises active which is also really good, whereas Liu Su works far less often, again, with an experienced player they are both probably as good as each other, but Iron Tongue Tian can work for more of your basic strategies, unlike Liu Su who will only help if you have a plan on everyone's energy and you plan to switch with someone who doesn't have energy, and, again, switching is usually not the best unless you have a plan.
    Wagner isn't a must, but I would suggest him, along with a few weapons for your characters, weapons can actually do quite a lot, and with wagner you can equip a weapon for free, even one with a cost of 3, by the start of your next turn, also if you have more than 1 of the same weapon type then you have more options.
    Favonius Cathedral heals your active character for 2 hp for the cost of 2 dice of the same element, lasts for 2 turns. This almost always comes in handy unless you are going to die before the end of the phase, but even then if they do die then if the character you are forced to switch to has taken damage they also get a heal, also doesn't help if the enemy has either boosted burst damage, or multiple characters with bursts available.
    Jade Chamber is nice, at the start of the round, when you roll, at least 2 of your dice will be of the element of your active character. Sure, you can sacrifice some of your cards to change the element anyway, but you should really have a deck with only cards that can be useful in relatively common scenarios, so Jade Chamber allows you to save some important cards for later, also it's a location so it has infinite duration.
    This one's probably self-explanatory, but character-specific cards (the ones that, when that character is active, uses your skill or burst + gives a small bonus effect) can sometimes be really good to have on you. Some of them cost more than a burst but give a small buff of some sort, but they won't always be helpful so it really depends on what characters you are using.
    To summarise, all the previous suggestions I gave are only from a beginner's POV, I am not saying these cards are the best in the game, or that I think I know more, but when you're new strategy can be pretty hard, I've certainly found that, and these cards are ones that have helped me in far more situations overall against NPC's.

    For the players that do play any TCG here are some tips and jargon.
    1. Card advantage: Having more cards than your opponent ia generally a good thing.
    2. Cost and effect: Look at the ratio between the cost to effect. If your cards have low costs and in relation good effects, thats a good thing. High cost for low power effects ia generally bad.
    Having the tempo, or gaining tempo: You having the tempo is huge in any card game. You want to set the pace of the game, and have the answers to what your opponent plays. Generally it means you are in control of the game and are playing proactively instead of playing reactively.
    Try to look for synergy between cards and look if it can further your gameplan and try you to win the game.
    Trading cards: This means you use 1 card to get rid of 1 card on your opponents side, could be more. These are generally good but have the problem of not giving you tempo.
    Blowouts: Cards that singlehandidly win you a game on the spot. These are worth it if the cost is not too high.

    I invested a lot into a mona+keqing deck before learning that piercing damage can't be buffed by Monas burst :D But its still a decent deck and I mostly bought versitile cards. Also as a hardcore TCG/CCG player I have to disagree about 3 mana Paimon. Its not a bad card but 3 of the same dice is a harsh requirement for only potentialy getting ahead for 1 dice. It's much better to put in one of the supports that give you free resources for artifacts/weapons if you use those in your deck.

    • @infine-8222
      @infine-8222 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find 3 of the same die that is NOT one of your elements to be a common occurence until you can lean heavily onto stuff that rigs your rng or gives you more dice. You can try to reroll and pray to RNGesus, you can dump half your hand on attunement or you can just let it go and play Paimon instead. It's a really good card early on when the enemy can't capitalize on you not doing much in the way of meaningful actions because it pretty much removes dice RNG from your next 2 rounds.
      It's not that great late when you are swimming in correct dice though.
