Nah, Roy's not trying, all he's doing is being a narcissist about her driving and her car, he's a douche! lol All he does is crap like that, while the guy who truly loves her, hardly EVER criticizes her, but if he does, it's jokingly and w/love and then he also admires and respects her...PLUS he makes her laugh! perfect combo! You are half predicting what happens with Jim and Karen.
Some shows are more strict on how much you can show. Also if any trademark music plays during the episode you can't show that part either. These episodes are only 22 minutes long so a 10-15 minute reaction is perfectly fine. He's also a solo reactor so there's only so much talking he can do after the episode ends.
