I had a kit of this plane from revel that my grandfather gave me in 72nd scale. i think i built it around 1984. This aircraft means so much to me and I'm trying to find the original revel kit. So much nostalgia. I wish it would get re released in 72 scale.

Right on! I feel the same way about the 1/72 P-6E I built at my grandmother's house. You might find the P-26 kit on Ebay. Cheers!

I love building late interwar and early war planes and tanks so this is plane I've been thinking about building for some time. I love your straightforward reviews and format and find them really informative.

I have built 2 of these, an early 94th PS aircraft and a P-26C 20th PG version. I have several more I hope to tackle one day as well. The Academy versions come with parts to build any of the versions, early with single exhaust stacks, later with the partial exhaust ring collector, early fixed tail wheel, later with the taller tail wheel, the "B" version with the fuel injection engine, and many of the different "bumps and humps" from the different eras. Kit comes with both the 30cal and 50cal MG, and the 2 types of bomb racks these aircraft employed. The decals are not very good and do recommend getting aftermarket ones. Starfighter has a set for 1st Pursuit Group aircraft (4804) and 17th Pursuit Group (4802) , Aeromaster had a set from the 90's but hard to find, and there are sets for the Guatamalan aircraft as well. Eduard made a Photo-etch set, Tom's Modelworks (Later also issued by Starfighter) had a cockpit set (really not needed), and Starfighter makes a Photo-etch rigging set. Yuhu might have a instrument panel set as well. This is truly Hobbycraft's best work and probably the best kit of the P-26 made up to this point.

Right on! Thanks for all the additional info - a very nice addition to the review. Cheers!

I built the Phillipines P-26 several years ago, a great little kit and was able to easily rig it with wire. Looks good on my shelf minus the cowling...

Very cool, Eugene! I'm sure it looks good with the engine on display. The rigging intimidates me a bit. I need to just make up my mind to do it. Cheers!

Another great review Jon! Wish this subject was covered more with kit manufacturers. She seems a challenging yet fun build. Should go great with a Mitsubishi Claude for between wars display. Thanks!

Right on! This kit reminds me of the Wingsy Claude. They should both turn out beautifully, but each will require dedicated effort in the build. Cheers!

Hi Jon. In my opinion, the Hobbycraft (re-boxed by Academy) P-26 kit in 1/48 scale is very nice. Anyway, in my knowledge, the trailing edge profile of wing tips needs to be slightly corrected (plan view), part of ailerons included, removing material (not adding) with sandpaper. The drawings in Aerofax Minigraph No 8 can help for this task.

Thank you, Giovanni! That is a great reference for modelers building the Hobbycraft P-26. Cheers!

Definitely a unique aircraft and excellent quality kit. Detailed engine and cockpit and I love the pre-driiled rigging holes . This would look excellent paired with what looks like it's predecessor Curtiss P-6 Hawk, ( my first plastic kit I think from Lindenberg ? ). I've almost completed by stash organizing, so in between my Spitfires should have some time to try the VMS stripper, some 30 year old kits will give it a challenge. However, now I have to put the P- 26 on my to buy list :-) Cheers till the next one

Right on! The 1/72 P-6E was one of my first kits (Revell, I think). Good job on the organizing!

Hello Jon, good video, very informative, details that are appreciated when purchasing a kit, I have never assembled a Hobbycraft brand kit, so I have no experience regarding their quality, it is an interesting model This peashooter, I think, has some interesting stories in its rather unequal confrontations with the Japanese fighters, greetings and thanks for the time, this plane could be a good example of how to perform riveting....

Thanks, Francisco! Hobbycraft as a brand is wildly hit-or-miss with regards to kit design, fit, and accuracy. If you want to try one, make sure you read or watch some reviews of the specific kit before buying. Cheers!

The wings fit very loose on mine. Working on ideas for a jig to get them glued in proper alignment with correct dihedral. Other than that it is quite a fascinating kit.

Thanks for the heads-up! I'll keep an eye on the wings when I'm able to build this one. Cheers!

I always thought that aircraft was one UGLY PLANE…
You are versatile in your choices of builds…
It’s very colorful, well I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with it…
In your last video, you asked if I found something at the
    TOY FAIR…
    Picked up a AIRFIX 1/72
    GERMAN ARADO 196 Seaplane…
Never built one, I plan on coming up with a display with the HEAVY CRUISER
    PRINZE EUGAN…
Looking for the TAMIYA ISSUE and possibly the REVELL ISSUE… depends what’s available and affordable…
Sorry for taking away from your review…

Nice, that should be a really cool display! I'm looking forward to building the P-26 since I've never built one in any scale. Cheers!
