- Start to finish aquascape tutorial of our latest 120cm layout. Following AG owner Dave Pierce setup and plant this naturalistic layout, with a planting scheme based on ADA nature aquarium "Green Heaven".
Insights into substrate systems, layout composition, and a full planting walk through.
Jump to the final reveal at 11:58 to see the complete grown in layout.
This aquascape is probably the fastest growing scape we've even had. All plants are speedy growers, whilst using high lighting and CO2 to encourage compact, layered growth. This layout requires a harsh prune every two weeks, so bear this in mind if you're thinking of recreating something similar, you've got to love trimming! The time and effort is all worth it though, with tons of lush bright green plant growth providing high impact, varying textures and a very natural feel.
The wood and stone (Frodo Stone & Manzanita Wood), provide the structural composition, allowing us to follow the natural flow of the hardscape when considering how to prune and where to leave negative space.
We hope you enjoy the video, and could be a good reference for setting up your own similar themed layout.

Really makes me want to try and make a scape like this. Currently have a 160l planted aquarium. But watching this makes me want to expand. I'd anybody could help with tank ideas around the simular size or abit smaller would be much appreciated. Also what a awesome build wish I could see it in person. ❤
Worth a visit to our shop by the sound of it! Thanks for watching 😀
@@AquariumGardensAquascaping will have to make the trip down. Worth it your place looks absolutely amazing
Beautiful! Great Work! Well Done!
Stunning work Dave! This is the 4th Green Heaven-inspired tank i have seen (including mine)! Love the frodo stone.
Thank you! It’s one of my favourite recent layouts, I was very inspired by the planting combination. A couple of plants I added though: juncus repens at the back centre and change the carpeting plant to the lower maintenance Marsilea Hirsuta 🌱
Bravo !
Magnifique !
Merci.
I like you aquarium, beatiful
Witam serdecznie super piękne akwaria pozdrawiam z Polski miłego wieczoru życzę
Many thanks for watching!
Beautiful aquascape Dave , think I need another re-scape after Xmas .
Thanks John 😀🙏
Beautiful scape. To be honest, it is easily comparable and better than the ADA builds you can find. Real drama and zen.
Thanks so much! That’s a massive compliment. Thanks for watching 😀
Beautiful scape Dave, I love your work. When I’m next over from Adelaide, I’ll try to make a visit to you guys. 🙌
Thank you so much 🙏 🤗
Dave ist ein Könner seines Fachs! 😉
not my type of tank but it looks impressive!! I've seen this tank on Instagram plenty of times. good work!
Thank you for watching and kind comments 🙏🤗
Beautiful scape! Just wish you'd allow the reveal of the full tank go on a bit longer than 5 seconds😅 Either way, it's amazing.
Actually from the beginning I saw this scape photos on Instagram I remembered ADA Green Heaven by Daisuke Inoue..., and I think there's a similar set up on 'Green Aqua' by Josh Sim (I didn't remember)... But your tank was soo amazing I really loved it ❤
Thank you! “Green Heaven” was perfectly executed, one of my recent favourites. I wanted to create my own take on it, but huge inspiration taken from ADA. I’d recommend anyone to check out the ADA TH-cam channel for endless inspiration and natural feel layouts.
@@AquariumGardensAquascaping I've tried same tank 2 times but I don't know why those plants not thriving in my tank
Love this tank, would add some buce to the wood, anubias to rock and crypt my olla for contrast.!❤🎉😊
Thank you! It’s a great idea 🙌🤗
How is maintenance like for a scape like this with the plants chosen. Tripartita and verticulata are so hard to control fast growing plants!
Very high maintenance! It requires a hard prune every 2 weeks. The effort is worth it though, and I enjoy maintenance 😊
How long did it take until it was looking like it did in the end of the video?
Around 8 weeks 👍 these plants are all fast growers, worth bearing in mind this layout comes with a high maintenance routine. So worth the effort though 😀
❤👍👋🇫🇷
Looks very beautiful..but looks artificial. More like a boquet. Not a living breathing ecosystem.
Love the layout. Would be nice to not see neon or cardinal tetras (or harlequin rasboras) in aquascapes for a year or more as they're so over done to the point of being jarring now.
