Hello Dan I also have just went to Alton towers yesterday. I rode all 3 retro squad rides and oh god the amount of nausea. I feel you. I do agree with what you have said the ride feels off to all the others. The other two are for me genuinely intense but this one is odd. It’s not intense and is just a fun experience. I wouldn’t call it good though
Spinjam has such a small cycle and after you ride it a few times it’s not that intense. Funk and fly just looks horrible so I’m not doing that. Will ride this one and see

Idea for 30k video: Split some friends into 2 teams and give them a list of challenges and 3 UK theme parks that they must visit in one day. Then arrange and endpoint and the first team to arrive with all of their challenges completed are the winners i.e. team 1 - Towers, Chessington, end at Thorpe. Teams 2 - Blackpool, Legoland, end at Thorpe. Also big congrats on 30k. Can’t wait for you to hit 50k
@@DigitalDan there is a 30mins difference between the two routes by car so you would have to do it so the challenges for team 1 are about 30 mins longer than team 2. Overall it is about 4 hrs 30 mins by car so it would be doable in a day to go to all the parks. Hopefully you can figure out a suitable way to do it but if you want to discuss it further I am on your discord server under the same username👍

Never been to Alton Towers but even I think that carrying the Retrosquad on is a bit ridiculous. There are so many permanent flat rides to choose from from many different suppliers and yet, we've got loud 80s music at the bottom of X-Sector. Merlin need to get their act together and just completely get rid of these rides. For good.

There used to be a Mexican Hat ride, which was the same as twistertron only the seats pointed 90 degrees left, so they followed the direction of the spinning. It was quite uncomfortable if you were the outside rider as you would get squashed by the inside rider. This format with the seats facing outward seems a nicer experience.

I was going to ride it but we did the Smiler instead which was brilliant but now Im addicted to riding it i swore to myself every time i go to Alton towers i will ride the smiler and on opening weekend i rode it 4 times once on Saturday and 3 times on Sunday and i think my brother got really mad at me since the last 2 rides i asked for were 20 minutes apart or something i didn't count
Starfighter, a.k.a. twister Tron is much better on the travelling circuit, I should know I’ve been on it! When it’s run manually, it’s a lot more fun, spins faster, and you get more airtime.

Hi Dan, I went to Alton Towers (Resort and spa) over the weekend and I went on wicker man on the back row, I think I was on the train before yours if you were there. I also stole your ride photo.
For 30k you should try and remake every single ride in Alton Towers, in 2 hours (main 8). Let me know if that's not a challenge, or if there should be more time. :D
I only support the retro squad going IF towers are going to install their own permanent flats! Otherwise you’re just right back to square one again with a huge void in the lineup.
This style of ride has been around for many, many years. I remember riding these back in the 70's. Only difference being that on the older rides, the seats faced forward instead of outward from the middle. i went on it on saturday at around mid day and a bolt came loose we heard a clunk on the ride dk if it was from the ride or the railing tho
