Paralympian Oksana Masters wears heels for the first time, prepares to accept big award

- It's a kind of "Cinderella moment" for Louisvillian Oksana Masters who won bronze in the paralympics in London. She is heading to New York to pick up another big award and for the first time ever, she will take off her tennis shoes and wear high heels.
At age 23 Oksana is calling wearing heels her first real girlie moment. She says when you wear prosthetics your feet stay in a flat position.
Oksana spent time in a Ukraine orphanage and birth defects because of radiation caused both of her legs to be amputated.
Suzie Williams in Louisville fitted Oksana with new, state of the art prosthetic feet and ankles allowing Oksana to adjust for high heels using an iPod thanks to microchips.
Oksana will attend a big event in New York where she will be awarded the title of Female U.S. Rowing Athlete of the Year. She will become the first adaptive rower to win the title.
She is already buying three other pairs of heels and thinking ahead to her wedding day and those white strap heels she plans to wear.
I have no idea how I ended up on this video but It's amazing how naturally her steps are, considering she's wearing heels and...well... and the rest.
I repair those prosthetic knees for a living.
She visited us last month. She's so nice and awesome to be around.

Still, high heels are a very bad idea for any woman. They limit movements, they don't do anything good. They are only made to shape a woman's movements according to dominant views about what women should be like, and I - as a rebel and asexual - can't accept such views.
