I remember in late 90’s how rare these were and how difficult they were to breed. It’s great to see the progress devoted keepers have made to propagate this species.

And governments everywhere are trying to tear down the beautiful captive bred market we’ve created. Its a shame, people making laws that dont under stand anything there making laws on and just listening to lobbying extremist’s and the media

Vic is the best in the business when it comes to Manouria Phyrei. Super knowledgeable and just an all around great guy. I saw a comment complaining about the price tag on these tortoises. There are way more Aldabras and radiated tortoises being produced than mountain tortoises and their price tags are way more. If anything Mountain tortoises hatchlings should start at $500. Nice Job on the video Dav.

Seemed a little contradictory when Vic said it doesn't matter about the size, yet said 40 pounds was the viable egg limit. But that 40 pounds could take anywhere from 9 years to 25 years depending on location. To me, that means it DOES rely on size, and not age.
Regardless, LOVED this video. I am VERY much a chelonian addict for sure so anything focused on the shelled reptiles is right in my wheelhouse. Have never much looked into Mountain tortoises before but they definitely seem to have some charming personalities!

Another great video, tortoises Rock My World they are awesome. Hey dave, I heard you say in your videos that you have a degree in American history, I personally love history especially American history and I have a friend who was on a TV show called The Curse of Civil War gold, I'm from West Michigan and the show takes place basically in the area where I'm from along the Lakeshore. There is two seasons, my buddy on the show Al Dykstra is currently working on another show for The History Channel about Jesse James and I consult with him a lot. I thought you might find it interesting if you haven't seen it yet. They also do some Consulting with Marty from Oak Island. Another History Channel show. Anyways from one history lover to another I figured I would let you know

Love your content Mr. Would you ever concider doing an in depth video about the dwarf caiman? I have been interested in them for years and finally have the space to build out a respectable enclosure for an adult. Your content seems to be the most in depth and always as informative as it is entertaining. I am in the process of building out an indoor enclosure for an adult as well as drawing up plans for an outdoor summer enclosure. I'm thinking for the outdoor enclosure to be 10'x20' with a 6'x8'x2' water feature. I would really appreciate anything you would be interested in putting out. I have a lot of respect for your opinion because of your attention to detail of husbandry. Thank you for what you do and keep up the good work sir
