(^w^) / dude after my first legitimate "numerous" listens/learning this song 'ear-wise', watching this cover way back when for first time and even now, finally learning the song myself while back while truthfully at some points breaking down out of frustration to look up a tab after countless attempts not giving in! (certain voicings and phrases of riff, not entire song) but yeahh, after all that, I too now and even forget at times, the amazing, and intricate/subtle awesome shit bout this song and then having the ability to learn/play it. even for anyone that used tabs for the entire learning of this song, still I salute em dude. it's such an effin masterpiece man. it is. Misha recieved the Golden Gods Dimebag Darrell shredder of the year award back around the time of ths album (both versions) being released, you know that? Its insane to think he did all this first album and everything prior, by himself for most part, w/Jake and I think couple more at most putting in their ideas and talents recording the material. I mean they (not just misha) still pull skeletons from the collection of early bulb tracks/ideas, to create new songs, even up to the latest release. Misha just has it, Jake has it, and Mark certainly has it as well as far as writing and inspiring ideas/riffs. The music they end up with, guitars alone, feeding off one another is just mind blowing dude. And I don't say that bout any artist, nor am I some hardcore fanboy. Shit is just flat out good stuff. All their work is. They make music other knowledgeable musicians (famous/recognized or not, doesn't matter) can enjoy or listen to and appreciate during process. Tool, Metallica, Dream Theatre, Megadeth, Mastodon and couple others I'm forgetting atm are some of the only artist I've said that bout. Ever. Lately, last 3-7 yrs, as they've become available to listen to; Periphery, the Contortionist, Sithu Aye, and recognizing Mark/Misha/Jake's talents/works separate from Periphery; each joined those previous stated artists of: "for other musicians/other musicians can appreciate acknowledgment" personal opinion/label. I'm the pickiest, though 100% musically open/diversified musician that I know. So that's saying something lol! Agreed though, it and many other of their songs are just, "wow!" yanno? Cheers bro!
I love this song but I can NOT seem to get the rhythm on that intro right! Any tips? Or just practice, practice, practice? By the way, great cover. Great playing!
I was wondering if there's some sort of pattern, like the chugging in Make Total Destroy, but nope, it's kind of just chugging all over the place without much pattern and it's pretty hard to remember. I wrote the numbers between the 16th note rests to try to understand it (with Guitar Pro open so it didn't take me as long as you think) 2 3 2 3 2 3 1 4 1 4 1 4 1 2 2 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 2 4 2
Actually it's better if you lay it out like this 2 3 2 3 2 3 1 4 1 4 1 4 1 2 2 2 3 2 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 2 3 4 3 2 3 2 2 3 2 2 4 2 I divided the 8 bars into two, and there's some patterns, but not always, but this is the best you can probably organize it
+Derek Steinke Muting with the third finger can help to break the parts up. And yes, practice, this song is like expert level. Low gain or medium gain with two noise gates will help the tightness.
Try to either get a guitar with a 26.5 inch scale such as Schecter Omen Extreme 7 or the Extreme 6 which I have both (very great guitars) Or try heavier gauged strings, and take it to a shop to get set up for drop tuning, and tell them you want it drop tuned for Drop C and they'll put the heavy strings on and tune it, and set it up so you have no fret buzz. Hope I helped man. :) I play in drop A# with a les paul haha :P
Mad skills, but i don't believe this was recorded live. The piezo switch on your JP6 is in the "on" position, which would mean your guitar would only be using the piezo pickup, or emitting no sound. Nonetheless, very impressive. ギター上手だね!めっちゃ上手い! 頑張れ!
I never realized how much of a masterpiece this song is until I watched this cover. Just.. wow...

Can NOT get over this. The playing is impressive enough but the tone is almost scary its so good!
Absolutely perfect. When I heard the natural harmonics al 1:40 ...wow, so clean. Congrats!!
This video 8 years ago opened to me the whole new world of mathmetal and jent. Thank you man, really appreciate it.
Great stuff man. Awesome to see the intricacies of the parts up close like that

Holy crap that was flawless, wow!
Good fucking job man ! Killer tone and spot on with good accenting, very good.
\m/
Really impressive and the tone was ridiculous, i also see you are into Dream Theatre. Perhaps I will sub...
DUDE right on! Excellent job!
The intro is just the pre-chorus except it's all open notes, so:
00 000 00 000 00 is the same rhythm as 00 0h4p2 00 0h3p1 00. (Just Google the tabs.)
Freaking awesome man!! Must practice this one!
awesome cover
Kudos man. This song is fucking solid!
Nice JPX best 6 string electric guitar ever made to me
fantastic cover
最近動画あげないけどまた見たいなー
Nice playing,bro)
This is nuts lol. Awesome
on point!!!
I love this song but I can NOT seem to get the rhythm on that intro right! Any tips? Or just practice, practice, practice?
By the way, great cover. Great playing!
Start slow, like 100 bpm or lower and gradually higher the tempo. It's basically just muscle memory. You will get it eventually.
That shit is hard as fuck lol.

I agree, looks heaps like him by the hands and playing
good job man :)
@crollbc try with light top, heavy bottom strings. work better for down tunings
This is now on the learn list for me,
Can't see it happening soon though.
Sugoi!
When I grow I want to be like you

can't believe!O.O
its not a jpx. Its a regular petrucci in mystic dream. Jpx has the five selector switch and black hardware and also in the barrolo finish
@crollbc mmm... It has not been replaced 3 months ago... X-D
I CANT BELIEVE THIS WAS DONE WITH A SIX STRING! FUCKING KILLER JOB MAN (Y)
The song was written on a six string, they write a lot of their stuff on six strings actually
could you upload the axe fx patch?

기타 잘치신다 ㅎ
How did you get that tone?
Axe FX in the background. Dimarzio crunch lab also plays a part.
are you sure? not all songs of periphery are in drop g# some are in drop c too...
what size gauge strings?
Mark Holcomb?
Drop C?
When did Misha become white???
He's Japanese.
barely got that tone bro!, tight!!
i know right?
actually is drop G# in C is just easier to play insomnia
He's dressed like Mraktacular....he's playing the same model a Mraktacular....and his fingers look like Mraktacular....
I can do that, hold my beer
no
i know right?
