Thanks Scripe for watching my video. I learnt a lot from watching you dissect various topics in the videos - as someone who has played WoW for 10 years, was really eye-opening to hear your takes as a world first raider. Been a fan ever since the Method days, can't wait to see you taking on world first races again (:
Regarding the specs vs job thing where you bring the player over the job - there's an anecdote for one of the world first ultimate clears in FFXIV where someone asked a tank in the raid why he chose to play Dark Knight (as DRK was considered a bit underpowered at the time) and his answer was "I just like playing DRK, it's fun". So even at the cutting edge, top players will pick a job that's considered slightly underpowered if they pilot it better.
Yoshi P and the developers actually raid before releasing the content. They will look for bugs and issues while playing the content. If it's killable, then they will release the game.
The reason why FFXIV raid aren't as buggy and broken as WoW is because Dev in FFXIV play it and beat it before they expect us to do it. WoW they have ideas, put in the ideas and then let players find the bugs and adjust it afterwards.
The difference is, whatever dev/group they would hire for testing are so much worse at raiding than WF guilds that you can't use them as a good reference for tuning
It's funny because even with PTR testing WoW raids STILL are released in buggy or broken states. At this point I don't think PTRs exist for anything other than patch previews and hype building.
Or free labor. Find out from people what issues exist and fix only enough to keep both sides of the party engaged; the people that will be satisfied with minimal fixes and the people that will stick around to complain about what still hasn’t been fixed. It’s all monopoly really and it baffles me more people don’t realize this. Like literally being used just to hype yourself out of the hype before the game even comes out lol, it’s already work before you even get to enjoy the play. And that’s coming from the realization of someone that played for 15 years.
For the first tier Expansion Releases, Normal Mode 2 weeks later, Savage 2 weeks later (4 weeks from expansion release.) They want players to not feel they have to rush through the MSQ, which is a big thing in the Final Fantasy franchise, in addition get used to the variety of job and system changes. For the remaining two tier later in the expansion. Normal and Savage drop at the same time but there has been requests in the community for even a 1 week pause so normal mode can be enjoyed for its story elements. Week 1 pause between Normal and Savage will also let groups get ready with new crafted gear and new food/pots as well since they release same time as the normal raid is dropped.
FF loot lockout is 1 piece of gear per boss on current tier only. So for example the lockout only exists on Eden Savage 9-12 atm(assuming they haven't completely removed it since we're so close to the expack). So, you get 1 piece of gear per week, but you can run it as much as you want with whoever you want.
Not correct. When weekly lockouts for savage are active, it's one 'page' (or whatever rng-mitigation currency that has), and you get one *chance* at two loot boxes if there's 8 players who have not cleared that week, and one *chance* at one loot box if there's 4-7 not yet cleared. If you've only got 1-3 who are fresh that week, then no loot boxes are spawned, and that 1-3 only gets their page, and are locked out of a loot chance that week. If nothing spawns for you or you don't get the loot, too bad. (assuming nothing changes in endwalker, but given it's been this way for two expacs now, it likely won't)
I never played WOW, but it is so interesting to see long time veterans chime in on this issue. It’s been an eye opener and makes me think twice when I get frustrated with FF14.
Voice the frustrations, I mean in the civil manner in proper places, but do it. We weren't thinking much of it. "It will get fixed/it could be worse" - look where we are.
Idk who said the tier is launching at the same time, because it’s not Expansion launches, people get two weeks to level up their jobs and gear them with what’s available Normal mode of the tier launches, people get two weeks to learn the base mechanics, practice with/form statics, and get what gear they can from the weekly locks, as well as the new tomestone currencies Savage mode of the tier launches, repeat the process with weekly locks until you hit bis, then do whatever until the next tier in the .2 patch which usually drops normal and savage together
I really hope mods don't take over the raiding scene. In higher end groups most people already use trigger callouts or have a grid with raid buffs. That's already lame enough. Top world raiders i dont even wanna know what they do "behind the scenes", basicly the stuff you don't see in the kill video. Kinda scary to think how fast it "could" go downhill in FF14 as well when more people realize with how much you can get away with without getting banned.
Hmm...I think that FF14 doesn't really play when it comes to these things. There was a recent interview where it was asked if they would support the "race to first" and I believe it was Yoshi-P who said that it's hard because they would have to make sure that there are no add-ons. Right now it isn't a big deal but if people start trying to make it "needed" for the game, Square should come down with the ban hammer.
with 8man, once u play a bit longer and meet more people, its gets easier to find one replacement fast (or just put up PF asap, even there you have chances of getting someone last sec)
The reason I hate PTR is because players will always try to min max content and find the easiest and fastest way to finish content, it’s just natural behaviour and is expected to happen but that shouldn’t happen before the content is even released. If it’s possible to know how a fight works before doing it because of PTR then it becomes expected of you to do that research so a lot of people miss the experience of blind raiding because they feel like they are fucking over other people by not watching a guide that was made with knowledge and footage gathered from PTR and data mining. Absolutely nothing wrong with expecting your members to try their best to clear new content but when trying their best means having full knowledge of every mechanic and how to resolve it before even stepping into the boss room that’s stupid, of course there are guilds who intentionally avoid information to blind raid in WoW but for me as someone who Pugs everything I do miss blind prog because the norm is watching guides before doing the fights even if it’s release day

Thanks man im glad you enjoyed it. Great video btw!
That realization that they delay the raids so people have time to enjoy the story AND the raid 😂
Scripe: "Why don't they release it (raids) at the same time?"
Chat: "So people don't rush"
Scripe: *processing*
Scripe: "Oh"

that's cause it's less competitive. if echo ran a roster full of "slightly underpowered" specs they would lose to Liquid. it's that simple

Another interpretation of “do these developers even play their own game?”
Wow... Imagine testing your game dude. Crazy.

Normal mode and Savage mode are only released at different times for 1st tier. 2nd and last tiers, normal and savage are released same time.
They don’t have internal tester that why they need test realms to ask people for bugs and ideas

Enjoyed the video
The big difference from wow to ffxiv: the devs play the game! They test the fights themselves!!
And Dev Team don't release content they haven't cleared themselves.

PTR is basically weakaura development phase
Can we get chat in the video? I want to see some copiums in the chat.
Final Fantasy music was always dope so is the game no doubt (never played 14 tho) but every single Final fantasy is dope.
Thanks for that random discord notification sound. 😠
