I have my own story of a crestie fitting through a small hole in her enclosure. So basically there is this hole on the top of my geckos enclosure so heating probes and misting tubes and stuff like that can fit through. Well, my gecko decided it was a good idea to climb the sprinkler system, go up to the hole, go through the very small gap that had taped down foil and had tubes running through it, and escape. She luckily didn’t go far and my mom find her in the morning on top of her cage next to her heating lamp. I have since learned and put a rock over the the hole. Lesson learned lol, but she learned that she can escape that way so for a while she would climb the sprinklers and try to go through the hole lol

The fact you can admit to your mistakes, says a lot. So many with a lot of experience don't talk about what they've done wrong in the past, I think it discourages a lot of potential new reptile keepers.
I have 4 leopard geckos. 2 are the surviving juveniles of my adults. I didn't know then how to sex, and I thought I had 2 females. I did not. Both adults were still very young [just over a year old, I think]. And suddenly there's eggs. I panicked, but had a spare tank. I put them in a container with some wet moss and coconut fiber husk as it was all I had. I then ordered a very cheap incubator that had an area for substrate and a plastic venilated insert with egg shaped depressions. I had 8 eggs, but only 2 hatched. One of them was born with enigma, while the other is perfectly fine. I still have both of them and they're 2 years old now almost.
It was a simple mistake made by someone who never had lizards before [i had ball pythons in my youth]. I now have everyone in their own enclosures, and have learned from that mistake, and I pass on what I've learned to others.

I once had a corn snake escape its enclosure on easter. My family looked for it all day. Eventually my mom found it all the way acrossed the house in the shower when she was using the toilet.

@@thegoblinking. we had cats, indoor outdoor. They had pet doors. They brought me a gift. They were waiting to see my reaction when I arrived home. I had already been given baby rats, mice and birds and squirrels and other things. I would always praise my gift and give them canned mackeral. I would dispose of the gift. The idea was to control where I got presented with gifts and my tactic worked. Well that day the gift was a snake. I know it was carried in through the pet doors because of the way the pet doors were installed and becsuse it had bite marks. Our yard did not have snakes and these cats went shopping to get me this gift. I put it in a cubby and let it out after researching and finding it to be not poisonous. It was what we call a rat snake.

@@eastlynburkholder3559 if possible, please make your next cats indoor cats with only supervised outdoor time. Cats can destroy ecosystems and make species extinct, and the animals they kill aren’t used for anything at all as you said they were thrown away. Indoor cats also have a longer life expectancy.

Where I lived, very rural, and the type of cats we took in meant what we did was for the best. If you have wild mother cats and cats with lots of hunter instinct, they will sometimes not make good indoor only cats. I agree with you that most cats should live indoors. The out of doors life is more dangerous. We gave the cats we took in a better life than they had had before. The cats got medical care, vaccinations and flea treatment and heartworm meds and they were spayed or neutered.
I now live in town and 8 feet from the main street through the town. My cat is indoors only. The downside is if I get very ill or die on an accident, this cat has never lived with other cats, never learned how to cope with streets or cars and might have to learn to be an indoor outdoor cat or an outdoor cat. It is an imperfect world.

I love all your videos! You've really helped me realize I have a real love for all types of animals and not just the few I already have. 🐢💚While I know this has nothing to do with this exact video I need some help because I am dealing with an issue in my RES aquarium and wanted to see if you had any advise. I recently discovered I have freshwater copepods in my planted and my RES tank. I have been told it's nothing to be worried about yet all the turtle groups I follow on FB say I should still do an entire filter and tank cleaning on my RES tank even though it would cause a bacteria bloom they said it should handle getting rid of the copepods yet everything else I've read including the pet stores told me not to worry and that you can't get rid of all of them short of throwing everything out and starting all over. I am so stressed and confused and need help! Should I do a full cleaning or just not worry about it. It's 1 4.5 inch male in a 75 gallon. No fish or anything live besides Buddy (RES) in that tank and it's a bare bottom. I already do monthly maintenance on my Fluval 407 and weekly 25% water changes. Please any advise would help ease my troubled and worried turtle mom mind! Thank you in advance.
