      Generic Scout I'm certain they do, and I'm certain the amount of schools with shootings is overblown by the media. But for that small percent with school shootings the response time would be nice

    • @genericscout5408
      @genericscout5408 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think response time can be 100% if we have staff on the campus that can handle it like how we hire teachers, we can hire guards. Just some guy in the camera room at all times. But nope parkland wants to kill that idea and instead only talk about removing guns instead of getting security guards in addition or instead.

    • @johnmartin4119
      @johnmartin4119 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Generic Scout well may be a guy who can call the police when there's trouble but let's not go overboard and set up some sort of martial law on students. The last time an oppressive force did that, a group of young men decided to start the American Revolution.

    • @genericscout5408
      @genericscout5408 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's stupid, all I'm saying is that we should have working cameras and a member on staff able to respond. How is that martial law? It's like saying we shouldn't have a 911 emergency call center because of the deep state.

      The men were removed from the premises after refusing to leave private property, and were arrested for it.
      What led up to this is that they tried to use the restrooms, it isn't allowed without ordering anything, they were told that by the employee, simply ignored her and tried to anyways, they were kindly asked to leave several times, they refused to, she called the cops.
      She was in her right to do so, and the men were placed under lawful arrest.
      This incident had nothing to do with the fact that the men were black and just waiting at Starbucks.
      Also, yes i get this is a joke, but too many people misunderstand the fucking situation, so i'm just copy and pasting what actually happened, because Colbert, the cunt that he is, conveniently left out the actual facts.

Maybe there was and maybe they said "okay no worries" And left. You're implying that white people obeying the law and not being arrested would make it to mainstream media... Hell, even if these guys were white, you still wouldn't hear about it, because that story wouldn't suit the leftist narrative of "everyone white person that lives today is a racist".

      Colbert keeping the steady flow of fake news strong...
      As a whitey, I took my laptop into starbucks, sat down at a table, made myself comfy, asked for wifi password, checked my privilege............... and was asked politely that this table was for paying customers only as there was no room for people using their service.... I apologised and went to buy a cappuccino, and hey, look... No problem afterwards. I guess it means that no matter who you are, we get treated the same, and if you respect it's a business and respect like everyone else using those facilities, there's no actual problem.
      This arrest story is evidently FAKE NEWS to try and make tensions for non-existent racial issues. I was asked not to use Starbucks within 2 minutes of sitting their leaning back to make myself comfy too. Why should those 2 black guys get special treatment but not me? If i turned around and said i'm not going anywhere, Id for certain feel I'm asking for trouble....

Possibly. Were the two ""victims"" in total control of the situation and offered at least 2 (perhaps more) opportunities to mitigate it? Absolutely.

      Lets not take blame from the manager and put it on the police. The police job is to respond to calls. The police don't know how legit the calls are before they arrive. Even after they arrive, the stories they hear are he said / she said. The reason they arrived so quickly was because they were bike cops which are always just in the area especially since they are probably common Starbucks customers. Lets properly place the blame on the manager because without her this would never be a story.

    As the manager of a store, if your inclination is to call the police on a customer who is basically doing what almost every customer does in your business. My question is, why do you feel the need that the police is the first step that you should take??
    This is what happens when you have racial profiling and stereotypes. You assume a black person isn’t supposed to be there and has some ill will.

    • @5pctLowBattery
      @5pctLowBattery 6 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Starbucks unofficial motto is more like ...come in grab a cup of coffee, or not. Use the WiFi, hang out, have a meeting here.
      Do you know how many people in Starbucks don’t buy anything at all?!? Not even waiting for a friend. People go into Starbucks to use the WiFi pop their laptop up and work for hours, and never buy anything.
      See the thing about is when you are black, it’s often a question of why you are where you are? What are you doing here? Why are you in this neighborhood? Why are you in this store? Why are you in this part of town so late? Why are you wearing that? Why? Why? Why?

      When You're Black, Every Place Is A Starbucks
      It is, of course, within living memory that black people couldn’t even swim in city pools in this country (or that interracial marriage was illegal, or that schools segregated white and black students, or, or, or…). So there’s a grim familiarity to seeing two black guys enter a public space, only to be find themselves assailed for trespassing one hundred and twenty seconds later. It all happened so quickly that someone who entered the same Starbucks, at the same time, was probably still deciding what to order.
      Maddeningly (and encouragingly, and distressingly), whole cities and towns are only now, gradually, coming to terms with the world their neighbors have lived in for generations. And more than one well-meaning white acquaintance has asked me why, if these moments are so mundane, one moment in one coffee shop has been magnified and blown up. But a thing about racism is that this same mundanity can quickly, irremediably alter the course of your life. Its boringness obfuscates that fact.

      "why do you feel the need that the police is the first step that you should take?? " your awful grammar aside. if you can read i suggest you read the managers side of the story. they where asked to leave multiple times even by there own accounts. it wasnt the "first step" it was literally the last ditch effort. notice how you have to change facts to make you seem right? usually means your wrong. try not just regurgitating what everyone else is saying next time.

      Josuke, It's just hilarious that you're telling Vana that it isn't fair to assume that this is white privilege, but then you give an example of a black person walking into Starbucks and try to imply that black privilege exists (by saying that you would never have been given a free coffee). Anyway, I think there's a huge difference between a stranger sitting at a coffee shop for hours and being offered coffee and someone entering an establishment specifically to ask for a free beverage. Generally, the only people who do the latter are people who have no money and are hence asking someone to engage in an act of charity and have no intention of hanging around. Or alternatively it could be someone familiar with the baristas. i really don't think the scenarios are comparable.

      To address everyone's questions: I never said I look white, I just grew up in a white neighborhood. I am half white, half Puerto Rican and I get pulled aside for TSA checks constantly because my skin isn't white... I was in an Atlanta Starbucks at the time.
      Tokki got the idea, Vana completely missed it though lol.
      Obviously one experience doesn't mean anything but obviously the person who called the cops after 2 minutes had some serious racial bias, especially in a store that is notorious for loitering (hipsters mostly)

You will find people who use the chairs and tables without buying anything. Or go to barnes and noble. If you have access to camera footage you will find that there are people each day who read books and magazines without making a single purchase. These companies make money off browsers and users who didn't originally intend to make a purchase. There were people in that store who didn't buy anything but they werent arrested.

If you think it's okay to be arrested after 120 seconds if you're black (you know it took a while to decide to call as well, right?), I can't see why anyone black should be very convinced by you. Or you just want to ignore black people? You're right that Syria deserves attention, but to be fair the occupant of the White House does his best to start fires all over the place. As for problems that "YOU" created I'm not sure what you're talking about. Isn't it people who disregarded (Trump's) racism (and many other things) in favor of their pet issues that got us here? Sure others disregarded those pet issues in favor of Hillary and liberal values etc., but this sounds like an opportunity for a good talk, not for one-sided blaming.

Also, I wish the guys had responded by ordering two water cups just to stick it to her. I've gone into Starbucks just do homework with friends in the past without buying anything without issue. She was in the wrong.

      I'm in security, so I usually watch for these things. It's *not* a 911 call. These men weren't doing anything that requires this kind of response. As for needing keys to the washroom, that does depend on location, and whether such a location has had problems with drug use in their washrooms.
      It's interesting to note, that even I would subject people to racial profiling. E.g., if these men were wearing suits, I wouldn't pay them any mind. As opposed to regular street clothes, then I'd would've just kept an eye on them. But to be fair, one just can't do anything until they were to be disruptive. Without exact details about their disposition I can't say more.

      I waited OVER 30 minutes at a Denny's and the waitress just walked past me again and again. I let this go on for a while before beginning to scowl in her general direction. The manager came to me, then apologized and gave me a discount. I think he told the cook to do an exceptional job too.
      I'm native. Just got off a plane in Vancouver, dragging my duffel bag, looking to grab something to eat at 11pm. At least the waitress didn't ask me to leave... or pay in advance.

    If the call was made within 2 minutes - then she must of asked them to make a purchase immediately after walking in, practically.
    What’s really sad not just the police dutifully obliged, but this woman EXPECTED to be given the right to make this call and have action meted out like that. She believed this was her right, - to have the police remove black people she merely doesn’t like the look of and the police will side with her and she was correct.
    "2 blacks guys, they don’t look like Starbucks customers, what do they want? Oh, they’re not buying anything, just as I thought. Now it’s time to call the police. They’ll take them away”.

Do you have no sympathy for the fact that these particular black people were, doing exactly what they were saying they were doing, had no threatening or illegal items on their person, and were faced with an unreasonable turn around between entering the store and having the cops called on them or are you just fine with innocent people being arrested just because you are unjustifiably scared of them.

    Plenty of people just sit in Starbucks without buying anything regardless of skin color or ethnicity. If you honestly tell me that all the people who come in and out of Starbucks every single day buy something before sitting down, then you'd be lying. Do you know how many teenagers and college students just sit in there to do their homework or course work? Heck, I've seen a dude getting interviewed for a position and they didn't buy anything. I've seen a group of people sitting and talking about working at customer service positions and they didn't buy anything either. People go to Starbucks to chat, work on work, etc, so why did she ask them to leave in the first place? Well, apparently this started because one of these dudes asked to use the bathroom, and the response was that they needed to buy something first. Since when did you first need to buy a drink to use the bathroom? When was that rule implemented? Heck, I went to Starbucks yesterday and went to use the bathroom, and they didn't spew any BS about having to buy something first. That particular lady was just a terrible person.

      The police was called within 2 minutes. That means all this happened within that time. They were waiting for their friend (who showed up as the police got there) and did not make a purchase. There was one other white woman sitting at the store for 2 hours and also hadn't purchased anything. And the white person who filmed the viral video ALSO hadn't made a purchased and was seated for much, much longer. Can you really convince yourself that there's nothing's fishy going on here? Absolutely no discriminatory behavior? Yeah, right.

      What seating was available at the time? How long would it take the police to arrive? How long did it take? I'm guessing the police in a large city would proably take awhile to arrive at a low priority call. And what you fail to take into account is that the police gave them notice of trespass and spent several minutes trying to get them to leave. They did not leave after being told by officers to do so. Had they done so, they would have not have been arrested. Reasonable response: leave and take it up with the PD, Starbucks, and/or a lawyer.

I have done this exact thing, and I imagine it happens countless times every day. But with people on the internet going on about reverse racism it seems easier for people in real life to do something ridiculous like call the police for not ordering something right away and wanting to use the bathroom.

      They didn't chase anyone. They were just guilty of being black men! It was pure racism. They merely stood their ground, because they were experiencing another instance of disgusting injustice, due to the colour of their skin and nothing else.
      The fact you can't see that and that you even support this kind of awful racial profiling. Strongly suggests, that you are ruled by your narrow fears and racist too?! Which, of course, are strongly related!

      Of course, intolerance is everywhere, to be prejudiced is basic human nature. You can only really correctly compare the racial tolerance levels of countries with similar development. European countries are far more tolerant of race than the US. Non-white races are at least safer from physical violence than in the US. Education is the key to tolerance and from what been shown by the media, it is sorely lacking in the US. Yes, the genocide in Rwanda was about ethnic cleansing rather than colour.

      Googly Moogly but that's exactly the kind of generalisation that causes both sides to segregate more. None of the people I know have invaded or stolen land. Their ancestors from a different era and mindset may have, but should they have to prostrate and atone for the sin of the past that they had no part of? I believe not but they have to accept it was done and learn from the mistake. My German friends are ashamed of the sins of Hitler and acknowledge it but they shouldn't need to apologise for him or atone for it.

      And yet the police came in and arrested then Sondar. Don't pretend this is one crack pot and that is that. When this kind of thing continually is reported it is easy to see why people get a little upset about racism.

    • @Sondariut
      @Sondariut 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't agree with you point regarding police. They did their job the way they are supposed to. They were called by the owners of a building to remove people who refused to leave. They talked with them and tried to get them to leave voluntary but after they refused they got arrested and removed. This is normal in a legal sense. Calling after just 2 minutes isn't normal, but the police has little to do with that.
      And yes, people get upset. Doesn't mean they have the right to be upset. How often are black people removed from starbucks if you say this happens continually? Does anybody who is talking about Afro-American men not being allowed to exist in the comments know this?
      Plenty of people have biases against black people, but to many people attach a lot of weight to this specific case in my opinion. At worst, this is an individual making a decision based on skin colour. At best she took out frustration on some random people. People like OP who pretend that this somehow means society deems it normal that Afro-Americans aren't allowed to wait around in a starbucks irritate me. I've also been asked to leave, due to my long hair people assume drugs and other stuff. Doesn't mean starbucks is racist against whites, long-haired people aren't allowed to loiter or society despises and oppresses me.

    • @dontbefatuousjeffrey2494
      @dontbefatuousjeffrey2494 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sondar12 oh get off your high horse. Neither I nor +SilorTheBlade went as hysterically far as "apartheid", nor was there any suggestion that this is a Starbucks-specific, widespread issue.
      If you want somewhere substantial to direct your irritation, direct it at the bigoted fools who judge gender and skin colour time and again and make stories like this one all too common.

      By now, the names of the person who called the police, along with the names of her family members should have been known by more than 50% of the Americans.
      She should be defamed, loathed and criticised, along with her parents, who raised her horribly.
      She should be fired, and should spend a couple of months in jail for misusing police assistance and harassment of other citizens.
      She should also pay a good amount in damages to these gentlemen.

She was following orders and now she's being railroaded by her employers so they don't look bad. • @Whoknowsuknow
      @Whoknowsuknow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Of course it's strange when people get escorted out of a coffee shop, that doesn't mean it's unjustified.
      Eyewitness statements would be highly unreliable in this instance. The 911 call would be recorded at the right time, whereas who notices the minute two random people walk into a store? Nobody.
      Why not just release the store security footage? That would show the actual time.
      Stephen imo is being irresponsible in pretending we have the facts here, because we just don't.

    • @Whoknowsuknow

      I doubt it's 80% of the crime. It's about 14% of the population and 50% of homicides though, so I'd assume the overall crime rate would be at about that level. But there are socio-economic factors behind that too. Poorer neighbourhoods generally, more fatherless families, etc etc.
      Yes I think the 2 minute stuff is bullshit. Unless you have a photographic memory you're not going to remember back to two random people and what time they entered a store.

      Hi Stephen, It is so sad that your staff is Failing you so Brutally. There was a time when you were ROFLMAO Funny but it has been a slippery slope to NOT SO FUNNY & NOW not only has your staff Failed you Yet Again but they have you sounding Racist too; PLUS they couldn't even be bothered to take the 30 minutes that it took me (even though I'm OLD & Disabled), I Found Other Relevant Information. Some May even call some of the following Info FACTS (which is a lot more than what your staff did for you), your staff has Again made you look like a Fool, so sad... Perhaps you should Fire them... or at least move them over to Jimmy's show; his rep is already deplorable, which is also sad.

      DEAR Richard Recupero, Alain Archambault, Kane Cazares, Jay Green, Kieragard, Sven Tempest, SilorTheBlade & TheCstar07:
      RICHARD RECUPERO- Thank you. Yes I do understand that Stephen's not required to tell us the truth; however it's stunning to read some of these posts & then realize that too many people gobble up the hearsay without waiting for more FACTS. I am very Disabled yet I at least Tried to check Other sources. I still appreciate your explanation because you clearly showed your Character. Thank You :-D
      ALAIN ARCHAMBAULT- I Totally agree, One would've had to have been there to know the real truth. I Totally believe that video HAS been taken out of context, never mind the media brouhaha.
      I even Totally agree that the media articles are exactly where Colbert gets his materials from in order to avoid defamation style lawsuits. The real question is WHO is Stephen Scared of? Because when Obama was in Stephen managed to be very funny without droning on & on, day after day doing the same political jokes again & again as if his writing Staff stuck pencils in their own eyes from Boredom. If I thought for a second that the media actually cared whether Stephen was Actually Funny or Not, then yes, I might take it up with the media; but I Don't believe they care about humour as long as Stephen spews party rhetoric. So WHY is Stephen So Afraid to be Funny like we All Know he Can Be??
      As for the incident itself, I Agree, there are standards that are common sense for a given situation. However, as you correctly point out WE Can't say anything more without having been there; BUT we CAN Hear Out ALL those that WERE, including the people the so called TV News are avoiding as much as possible to give air time to. Anyone who cares has got to ask some real basic questions; many of which are asked in the video links I posted. Is it illegal to ask legit questions yet??
      If the video links I Posted are watched IN FULL, the situation may have Started at a Non-Emergency level but something escalated it to Police assisted removal. As I generically understand it, if any officer is dealing with anyone unwilling to buy or leave after repeatedly being asked to buy something or leave yet they continue to stay put & refuse to buy anything. At some point the Police realize they about to help escort persons away/out which may actually require then to touch the people. Let's put the question this way… How many Men out there are perfectly Fine with any Male Stranger with an opposing stalemate perspective Touching them for any prolonged amount of time (say a minute or two)??? (Be Honest with yourselves People; It's a rhetorical question but something to ponder) & Alain, Thank you for your thoughts.
      KANE CAZARES- I didn’t hide my original post to Stephen in a random comments section. I posted it right at the top where it says "add public comment".
      You asked, "What are you doing?" Thanks for asking; as I exceedingly rarely comment on TH-cam, I read a person's post & mistakenly thought that when I hit reply immediately under there comment that My Comment would Stay Right There; I could Not figure out obviously for some time WHY my post kept disappearing & NOT Staying where I put it. Eventually I clued in that it doesn't matter where you reply, it auto-shoots your comment to the bottom of the pile… which also explain WHY most people put the name of whomever they are addressing in their post, which I was struggling to understand because most replies followed the person they named/addressed; which I in turn must assume most of you type like the wind… sadly I do Not.
      It is said, "Learn something every day" right? Well I have learned a lot today.
      Thank You, I appreciate you asking & Not having a "go to button" for putdowns like Jay Green, Keiragard, Sven Tempest & SilorTheBlade obviously have.

      SVEN TEMPEST point blank calls my "remarks/ideas worthless".

      I have provided 4 video links that state some of the info those same people are asking for... If they only would actually watch the videos IN FULL, then some of their questions may be answered (but only if they really want to know some of the FACTS vs "spewing" on those attempting to shed some light on SOME FACTS they have found for everyone to check out for themselves. I met up with someone for an interview at Starbuck's not so long ago. We sat there talking for atleast an hour and I didn't order a damn thang!!! Lol... When the lady suggested we meet there, and being a regular customer myself, I thought it was a cool idea. Casual atmosphere and coffee. What's not to like? One of the most comfortable interviews Ive ever had. I always felt like businesses like Starbuck's followed by modern standards to accommodate modern ppl. Their employees and customers are as diverse as there coffee flavors. Personally, I don't care about any color other than my green tea frappucino (extra matcha!)!! Mess that up and we might have a problem. Ijs... Point is she judged these men as suspicious simply because they were black, casually dressed and not spending money. Ppl shouldn't get offended when others consider her prejudice. She pre-judged, and she judged wrong. No place for that in any work place.

      Common fucktard logic: "I once did something questionable and there wasn't any repercussions for it. But someone else did something questionable and they got in trouble! Racism alert!"
      People get away with breaking minor laws/rules all the time. It's just that MOST PEOPLE don't give a shit. Every once in a while you will encounter a hard-nosed stickler for regulations (like the manager) who might even be having a bad day as well. This situation has nothing to do with race. The two men refused to buy an item, they were asked to leave, and then they refused to leave. Starbucks is a business, not a local hipster hangout. They can legally refuse service to you (as long as it's not discriminatory;color,veteran,age,etc...) and make you leave if they want.

    • @xxox0genuine0xoxx
      @xxox0genuine0xoxx 6 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      My goodness, are you that dense? 1) they WERE NOT asked to leave by the manager. The manager was unreasonably suspicious of the man who asked to use the bathroom, but was told it was for paying customers only, and decided to sit and wait for his friend to arrive. The 2 men were then asked by the woman if they were going to order something, and they responded that they’re fine. But who’s to say they wouldn’t have ordered once their friend arrived? Anyway all this happened within 2 minutes of the men arriving. Then the woman called the police and lied in the call. 2) Starbucks does not have a “no loitering” policy. People hang out there all the time without ordering and are never bothered. 3) The police told them to leave and one of the guys told the officer they were waiting for a friend for a meeting. That is the extent of their refusal that you insist on twisting into some belligerent act of defiance. The police then handcuffed these fellas without even telling them why or explaining them their rights. How is that in any way fair? If the white customers in the store that actually witnessed the ordeal can recognize the injustice, and the CEO of Starbucks can as well, then you have to concede these men were treated unfairly.

      Lol! Y’all kill me. First of all, I’m black and so was the DIRECTOR OF NURSING that interviewed me. That’s not my point, but rather that ppl go to Starbucks all the time, don’t purchase anything and arent questioned about it. I️ think you missed my meaning when assuming I️ wasn’t African- American. So who’s really the fucktard?

    1:45 hey there Stephen Colbert you left a lot of information out in that description of what occurred and I loved how you slipped a word in there that drastically alters any one's perception of what occurred " they did not IMMEDIATELY order something ". As if that's not deceptive in the slightest LOL.

    If you listen to the 911 call the woman does not sound scared, or harassed or anything that would require you to think "heck, she's in danger! Send six policemen right away."
    She even calls the two guys "gentlemen"!
    Why did the operator not ask for more information regarding the "dangerous" situation before sending the police over.
    I am really really impressed that Philadelphia has so little crime that the police have time to arrest people sitting at a Starbucks.

    To be hassled to leave you first have to be there and that will never as I don't go to Starbucks . . . Given this incident I will always avoid them. And I am a white male too.

    The two men were escorted out of Starbucks because they...
    A: were loitering for 2 minutes and didn't order anything
    B: were black and scary looking
    C: were threatening and rude to the STAFF and refused to leave when asked to
    D: police were called to remove them from the PREMISES, they still refused to leave, police had to arrest them for trespassing.

      kingmortz why dont you listen to the black chief of police statements on this, according to the police this is not the true story they asked to use the washroom and were told the washroom was for paying customers so they have to order, they refused to order then were asked to leave cuz starbucks doesnt allow loitering many minutes later the police arrived and the two black guys were very hostile with police and still refused to leave so were arrested for tresspassing, why does the news only report one side of the story???
