"It's another man telling us we can't fill up the room It's another man telling us to book a smaller venue" I saw them when they performed in DC that night. They actually sold out the original venue and they had to be moved to a bigger one. Justice at its finest.
Her voice is so authentic. The lyrics are pressingly honest and their composition is simple. Which is the exact opposite of what I'm sure they were told to do in the industry.
Her voice is a completely put on accent, authentic? Lol The lyrics are just like any teen angst diary of a tween but always filled with hate. She got into the industry by her father's connections and him telling her what to do.
a random customer in my line yesterday was wearing a camp cope T-shirt which made me ask him who they were cuz i didn't know and now today npr you upload THIS im trippin but also life is lovely in that way
Georgia's voice always gives me the chills - her vocals have continued to progress year after year. The notes she hits in The Opener are even better than the recording. Keep rockin - come back to the U.S. soon!
I don't remember where I saw the youtube comment, but someone suggested listening to Hop Along if you like Camp Cope, and I just wanna thank whoever that was.
Kelly told me after a show that some of her greatest inspiration comes from Peter Hook and Joy Division. Her walking bass lines sound very New Order-y.
Love how some of the men in this section are hurt and making unnecessary comments about the lead singers looks and lyrics. They’re doing what they love and growing. What are you doing? 🤷🏽♀️
For real, like why do they give a fuck about what they look like? You don't consume music with your eyes. Also, why do they think that anyone cares about their opinions? 😂
When someone writes lyrics against men people go crazy but tbh theres so much misogynie in music and people dont care Its stupid And feminist doesnt mean against men, its for equality
@@hmgmusic9065 First off, they don't blame all men. They're not sexists as I'm pretty sure they're all heterosexual so they don't hate men. Just because she said "another man" doesn't mean that she refers to every man in existence but men in the music industry can be incredibly sexist and misogynistic. Also, as men, we have no idea of what women have to put up with in the industry nowadays so we shouldn't judge, instead we should listen and try to understand
@@hmgmusic9065 No one assumes that when a rapper talks about women in a derogatory way that he means every woman in existence, so why do men get so upset when women criticise the actions of certain men as if they're attacking you?
NPR tiny desk literally has EVERYONE good in the industry. I literally look just for fun thinking there's no way that DRIVE BY TRUCKERS are on NPR THE HOLD STEADY THE TALLEST MAN ON EARTH. They literally get EVERYONE that I love.
A friend from Portland showed me this band a few months ago and I can't stop listening to them. Weather they know it or not, his new album is exactly what everyone needs. So good. If you read this, please play close to Dayton or Columbus or Cincinnati Ohio, United States. Please and thank you. The three of you are incredible.
You guys need to put this in the Tiny Desk playlist. I saw this on the website weeks ago and I've been patiently awaiting the youtube video thinking it was delayed since that's where I primarily check for these videos
First time to see this band perform. Interesting... I like that you keep your Melbourne accent while singing and don't put on a fake American accent like so many other signers do.
Yo NPR, thanks for this, but, I couldn't help but notice you've called How to Socialise and How to Make Friends their debut album. What about their self titled from a couple years back?
Okay so mean this with complete respect as someone whose taste is way outside this genre: I typically associate the instrumentation side of this type of sound as typically "sloppy" and not as "tight". I don't mean that in any way as a negative thing, as I've always interpreted it as part of the genre and expression within in it. But these three seems to be exceptionally tight in terms of ryhthym and tone compared to what I would've expected, and I really enjoyed it.
music is a form of expression, an art form, i don’t think it’s about the equipment used or technical talent - it’s about telling a story and conveying a feeling, & camp cope continuously hit that right on the mark

NPR you really did it now. Totally unexpected to see camp cope. I love y’all so much!
Sarcasm?
@@rhulorules no, it's true, Tiny Desk usually invites really well known acts. This choice reflects really well on NPR and their taste.

In other news mass shootings.
Randi it’s still going on today
"Love you, Kelly" instead of "Show em, Kelly!" was a surprise but quite lovely
Love this. Reminds me of some of the bands from the 90s, especially the singer.
Having major flashbacks of 90’s basement bands in the midwest

Been listening to Camp Cope since audiotree live. Thank you NPR
I saw Camp Cope live and it was amazing
Love her voice
I’m living for the eyerolls coming from Georgia haha
Olympic level eyerolls.
The bass lines on their songs remind me of Carrie Brownstein's work on Sleater-Kinney. I just absolutely love this band!
Kelly told me after a show that some of her greatest inspiration comes from Peter Hook and Joy Division. Her walking bass lines sound very New Order-y.
@@Eman0san I can see that. She's great.
This is nice, reminds me of my teenage years
45 seconds into this video and I'm sold!
Oohhh wowww love the voice of the vocalist! very good band👍💖
It’s ABOUT TIME
I love the 90s groove they have! As Counting Crows used to provide to their songs of that 'Autumn feeling'
Camp Cope does it as well.
wow so glad I found this band! LOVE this album!! THAT VOICE! Genius song-writing!
IM JUST GLAD TO SEE NEW BANDS! I MISS THIS SOUND SO MUCH
That eye roll at 1:38 though...
lol, that's her twitter profile pic now.
What is the other half of that sentence?
Got a lot of time for this band!! Thank you for this NPR
I saw them live (on this tour I think, with Petal) and I cried when they played the Face of God
Raw powerful vocals, killer drums and bass. What's not to love
Ughhhh soo good. I truly cannot wait to see Camp Cope live! And I cannot wait for them to blow up beyond Australia and the indie scene. It’s coming.
so so powerful. absolutely love this
Lovely little surprise NPR. Keep on killing it Camp Cope!
That 3rd song 'keep growing' is stuck in my head for a whole week right now
Listening for probably the 50th time. So, so good

Its the fact they blame almost everything on gender inequality or some other social issue and that they blame all men for a minority's behaviour.

Wow, in my ears this sounds has so much nostalgia of my teenage times in it. Wonderful
Camp cope! You are so talented and your lyrics are painful and thoughtful! Thank you!
The little, "Thank yew" at the end🥺🥺🥺
Camp cope has been a favorite for a while man they have a way to tell stories.
I would actually listen to that song

I love this group. I saw them in Seattle. Amazing live! Georgia has such a strong voice. It’s good stuff kids!
Georgia 💛
god im soo happy. Definitely a tiny desk we needed. its soo weird tho to see them so quite. too quiet haha
What I like is at the end of a very emotionally sung, even angry sung, song Georgia looks up and gives that lovely smile.
I love seeing new music! Thank You NPR!
My thoughts are with you from Japan
I've loved your band for so long and I'm so happy to see you on NPR!
love camp cope, their lyrics get to me every time; so glad to see them on NPR!

Greetings and RESPECT to Camp Cope, from Hoorn (The Netherlands).

That first bass line is so catchy.
CAMP COPE FOREVER
I absolutely adore this band. They changed something in me. Very natural talents
Their "maps" cover is the Best i've Heard so far
Love their music!
Listened to a lot of covers over the years but I have yet to see anything close to CC's cover of Yeah yeah Yeahs - Maps
Love this!
For everyone who’s written a negative comment regarding their talent, please listen to the lyric at 3:07
Cody Nolan that lyric is why people are leaving those comments, they have dug their own graves
This rules.
I listen to the opener on a regular basis... the whole record... but specifically the opener a lot
This is amazing.
Great band!
SCREAMING y'all are so good and mean so much to femme musicians
This is my vote for album of the year jjj
was looking forward to this one
Love the message
So good! Totally honest and unfiltered. They did a great set on Live on KEXP.
The comment section is cancerous but i like the band so thats the more important
LONG LIVE CAMP COPE

To anyone uncertain to whether they like this band, i would highly recomend the recorded version of these songs over these live performances.
I love this
we need foxing, cursive, seahaven, it looks sad, sorority noise, and turnover pls
You may be my soul mate. Yes to all of this.
lol I would love a lot more but I feel like they dont bring on loud acts so that throws out a lot of great bands
Oh shit yes
It looks sad and Turnover would be amazing.
