We have 15 of us in my family. So we only do stockings. So everyone picks up or makes a stocking size gift to go in each persons stocking. Then on Christmas we share over breakfast our stockings. We keep our price down and keep the gifts to only useful and wished for gifts. We have been doing this for 5 years and it is so warming to see how creative and resourceful we have all become. We made this decision as a move toward simplifying our lives. We also each take part in bring something to share in our breakfast.
Wowzers, that's lots of people! I can see why you only do stockings, haha! I really really love that idea, so special and a really lovely little tradition.Wonderful to share such similar values with your family. ❤️
Great ideas. I'm lucky to have a family who always buy me experiences! 😂 I love getting them and then if it a day out or a workshop or something then I can look forward to it so it spreads out the excitement! Hugs x
Thanks lovely! That's the best way, experiences are always so nice to receive and give you something to look forward to! A gift that keeps on giving. :) Sending big hugs right back xx
Love your ideas! To add on to consumables that don't stick around forever - candles and soaps are always an easy thing for me to get others. If you know they like a certain scent (or in my mom's case are allergic to most scents) you can get them that to show you've put thought into that. Sometimes a little care package with a candle, soap, and candies or snacks is better and they'll feel as if they've gotten a lot of use out of the gift.
I love this! Such a wonderful idea, I love this so much. One of my favourite gifts I would give my friends when I was younger was a 'spa at home' package filled with all kinds of goodies. Wonderful idea, thank you so much for sharing ❤️
I used to do a hamper for my gran when she was alive. I used to find mini pots of jam or smaller / individual portions of her favourite foods and she enjoyed receiving it as a gift
We came up with a great idea this year! We're all doing a Kris Kringle type thing. Maximum amount of $50. We tell each other three things we really want and then we'll get them one out of the three gifts (so it's still a bit of a surprise as you don't know what which one you will get). I've also requested no wrapping, which everyone seems to be on board with.
I'm all for this with hampers, or comsumables, and have been doing this for gifts for years both for christmas and birthdays! I have the fortune to have a good minded family of relatives, and so as I often thrift shop I also often use items from there in gifts! Often I find all new items, or items that look unused, and if they are items that can be cleaned and you know it doesn't create any hygenic concerns I think this is a perfect way to go! I AM on a very struggling budget as well (long time sick-leave, whatever the correct term for that is in english... with 2 kids to care for.) so even though thrifting was a favourite past-time for me before, it now has both a purpose of money and the purpose of reuse, reduce........ I have always loved retro stuff from certain periods, so thrifted mostly for that before. But as my thoughts on life changed, so did the purpose of thrifting of course! For example last year, I had bought a completely "new" Jamie Oliver book rom thrift, and completed it with a glass jar from ikea which I filled with pasta and decorated with string and a hanging label of the pasta name and cooking time. It was the Jamie oliver italy book. It made a perfect gift! Another gift was a beautiful teacup from thrift, which I filled with assorted teabags from my own cupboard, and bought a lovely bag of nice truffels to go with it. So there was a book and a cup in those gifts, but I knew they would be appreciated, and I take no offence if they are let go of!
I absolutely love your gift ideas, they are so thoughtful & creative and to me they mean SO much more than a generic store bought gift! You are amazing. I wish you well & sending big hugs your way xx
Fantastic video!!! Yeaaaah!! :) So important to keep letting people know that more is not necessarily a better present. I am excited to give my family and friends experiences are presents :)

I've also made hampers for my boyfriends grandparents! In fact i've realised that 90% of what i've bought are actually consumables.
It's such a wonderful way of still giving people an actual gift at christmas, love it! 😊
