Huge props for taking feedback seriously and not just sticking to your initial decision. It had to be hard to 180 after claiming multistreaming only works if you get crazy moist numbers on vods, but the community will benefit from it 🙂
If by "taking feedback" you mean refusing to listen for a month and eventually doing a single multi-stream trial (which is what everyone told him to from the start) and realising he was missing out on thousands of viewers who would just refuse to go to Twitch, then yes he 'took feedback'. He admitted it himself in the video, the only reason he multi-streamed was to solve the VOD issue, but then he realised he didn't lose that many viewers on Twitch but gained a ton on TH-cam.

only mistake is disabling live chat on youtube. there are a lot of people in the chat just talking to eachother. people like interaction, even if it’s not with the streamer themselves. so if i were lud id keep the live chat on yt and just ignore it.
9:05 Its worth noting that while he made a lot more in twitch, it is only because he streamed so much more. Overall he averaged about $900/hr on twitch vs $700/hr on yt, and the influx can probably be simply attributed to the subathon.
not to mention that streaming in general was just much richer and more popular during 2020 and 2021, where people had a lot more free time or time at home
What about his contract with YT, idk if that was disclosed but could that potentially make YT a more viable option and the reason hes switching is because the contract isnt getting renewed?
I feel like there should be an asterisk on the revenue on youtube due to the fact you capped your membership price to $1 instead of the $6 a sub costs on Twitch, so if you didn't lower them to $1 you would've probably made quite a bit more from that source of revenue
Even with that, it's kinda hard to calculate when it comes to youtube as memberships are converted to the local currency and adapted depending on the purchasing power, I personally like this system as a viewer but I can see how it makes it harder for the creator. Ludwig might not have much of an issue with this since most of his viewers are probably from USA, but just to make an example, a membership for his channel costs 15 argentine pesos to me, that's 0.0123 dollars - not much of an issue if I just were to buy one for myself given how cheap it is, however if I were to go ahead and gift 1000 on a stream, which would only amount to 12.3 dollars, you'd see how broken that is. The fact that he doesn't have different tiers also doesn't help, but well that's on him
Twitch year1: 780 usd /hour Twitch year2: 1143 usd/hour Twitch year2: 780.15 usd /hour (not counting subathon) TH-cam y1: 600 usd/hour TH-cam y2: 619 usd/hour TH-cam y3: 881.46 usd/hour Dude is already making more money per hour in TH-cam. And the tendency is that the rate is growing. I thought canadian schools were better man lmao
I also thought the same. He did say that he doesn't know what to stream on youtube. Which is a reason for his lower hours...meaning that he 'could' get 'less' money when he streams more. Alto I would disagree with that.
Dont forget the fact Lud capped his membership prices to $1 compared to Twitch at $5. if there was a way to see his current amount of active memberships on YT, as well as his peak membership number during 2023 and 2024, you could take that, multiply by 5 and see just how much more profitable YT is as a whole, on top of profiting off of old VODs etc. The numbers that Charlie gave in his video were much more indicative of just how much more profitable YT streaming is in the long term, cuz he'd make like 15-25k per stream on Twitch in subs and ads, compared to 4-10k on YT, but the VOD would bring profits up to over 40k or 50k in a few months for that stream VOD
@@clausbrink9316 To be fair, just multiplying by 5 probably wouldn't work, as you would have less and less people becoming members for every dollar you increase the price

I think disabling TH-cam chat is kinda dumb. Ive never been a twitch watcher but I became a member as soon as you switched. If you disable chat you're removing most of the benefits, you dont have to pay attention to it but people can still talk to eachother.
This is what I am super concerned about- i really don’t like twitch as a platform and it kills me knowing that i can’t show love here on YT thru chat even if he doesn’t care about it lol. I don’t even know if he’ll do the member only streams on here anymore either. To be fair, I should have paid more attention to these things since I haven’t been an active viewer lately. It’s just sad
I don't know much about streaming but I do know about data. Isn't your data a very biased towards Twitch regardless? - There was a quarantine which made people watch streams more in 2020 and 202. (And subathon as you mentioned) - You have double the streaming hours on Twitch and double the revenue, which would make sense no? It is true you have less viewers though, but still, there's that quarantine bias imo
yes but you should also consider why the he streamed less on youtube which he mentioned and the fact that its hard for viewers to find his streams in the first place
5:25 20+ years old and have yet to make that much money in my entire life combined even if we were to include the value of all my belongings, truly sad
I’m a vod frog I’ll be honest. But I usually watch them next day. So I’m stoked that he’s decided to multi stream so the vods are immediately available. I can download the vods and watch them on the bus. Can’t do that on twitch, and I don’t care about chat, even though I acknowledge it is way way better than YT chat
8:23 You need another column on this table to get the full picture I think. Revenue per hour streamed. Which I did for you. 2020: $636/hr 2021: $1143/hr 2022: $600.5/hr 2023: $619.8/hr 2024: $881.5/hr Wish there was a way to account for the outlier month in 2021 but I don't have a way of doing that to get an accurate picture for the year, and it'd probably be hassle for Ludwig to actually go and figure out himself. That said, on an hourly basis, there's no significant loss in terms of revenue on TH-cam vs Twitch from 2020 to 2024
Just wanted to say with yt streaming for the past couple of days it’s been nice but tbh I miss yt chat. Not really him interacting with the chat but just being able to just open the chat itself as I don’t really read chat from the screen since I’m watching the stream itself yk. Personally I’d be fine if he left the yt chat on even if it’s not the one he’s talking too. It’s nice to have commentary I can read as I watch. Overall still happy with the multi streams as before that I was living of those clipping channels lol
idk if ludwig will see this but i don’t think you should disable youtube chat! I think you should only actually read/interact with twitch chat but by completely ignoring but still having mods on youtube chat you can establish its own small community without the toxicity of begging for streamer attention. one of my favorite stream experiences is in lilaggy’s youtube chat where he does this exact system and that youtube chat is one of my favorite experiences on the internet, still enjoying the stream but actually chatting instead of only spamming emotes (no hate to spamming emotes)
How is it hard to find streams on youube? Maybe for random streams, but if you're subbed to someone, their stream literally shows up at the top of your subbox. That has nothing to do with algorithms.
@@4purs So you just leave what you watch up to the algorithm instead of curating it yourself? Damn. No wonder people complain so much about the algorithm if that's how they interact with the platform.
It’s hard to find streams because they never pop up automatically for anyone. If I searched up any video game the last thing that pops up is a livestream. On Twitch you are getting pushed to the top so easy and most people are actually searching on Twitch vs TH-cam where people more often use the curated algorithm
@@Elena-gj6owYes. That is the whole point of the algorithm. You present a paradox. You cannot curate what you want to watch if you have not spent a nauseating amount of time digging through the algorithm. When does that searching end? The answer for most folk is never.
@ I never said anything about never using the algorithm dude, I answered a guy that said he never uses the subbox. Is context hard for you? I sub to people I want to see more of in the future, which means their livestreams will always show up at the top of my subbox, hence I don't miss them. Relying only on youtubes suggestions for choosing what you watch is dumb. Then it's not the fault of the algorithm existing that you miss streams, it's the fault of you not subbing to them and checking your subbox.
What's interesting is that I favor TH-cam streaming for the way it operates versus Twitch. Tight, 1-3 hour streams, that focus on a single idea. It's how I like to create my streams, so this is cool to see. YT it is for me.
Curated VOD channels are the best. I'm a big fan of creators like LilAggy who on his vod channel clips out all the unecessary talking to chat before doing the actual content. Starting the VOD with summarizing for example his current Elden Ring challenge run rules and jumping right into it.
Thank you for the information Ludwig sir I started watching you on a YT livestream in 2022, and you quickly became one of my favorite TH-camrs. For me, the good sides of YT are that I get to see what interesting thumbnail and titles you’ve made for the stream, and ofc the rewind feature. You explained the YT vs Twitch mentality for clicking on streams so well (the burst of content vs the AFK culture) - I never even realized what each platform is optimally designed for. I stay for the entire YT streams personally, but still that was really cool to hear it broken down. Anyways I decided to watch you only on Twitch now for one small weird reason - channel points. My three years of watching you on YT has no proof because channel points don’t exist here. I’ve recently started watching your streams on Twitch and leaving them AFK as much as possible (especially during league streams, sorry) to rack up enough points to potentially match three years worth. I only have 20K right now but I’ll get there someday lol. I never spend points and I usually use them as a metric to have an idea of how much I’ve watched someone. I like having that kind of stuff, so yeah. And now I can still rewind on YT thanks to multistreaming, so yayyy :) GOOD LUCK LUD
Having no chat here on TH-cam feels really strange imo, I probably won't be watching many streams anymore because of it. But I've also never been a huge watcher of live content anyway, I just used to tune into a few while they were here and had chat, so my opinion is pretty irrelevant.
Guys I figured out what happened during Ludwig’s four days before posting this, he joined squid games and won, think about it, he dyed his hair red like in the series, and is now quitting streaming because he wants to find the recruiter. THINK ABOUT IT!!!
1. Looking up for live stream on youtube and twitch is the same fucking thing! You have to search content actively! No amount of promotion will help to find the stream you like. You search for stream, you find it, you bookmark streamer, you use that bookmark to watch streamer again. That is pretty much the same process for both platforms! The difference is, TH-cam is much better recommending content. Stupid twitch often puts up some completely irrelevant bs. 2. Basically yes, youtube is better for streaming than freaking twitch. Much better!
@Ludwig so you mentioned the copyright with music. Have you thought about doing a separate audio track for music so this way you can stream music but it won't show up in the vod? It's pretty easy to do. I think that would make it a lot easier for you to do. If you want to try it, there's videos but if you just want some steps, here you go: 1. In OBS, go to settings --> Output. 2. Change Output mode to Advanced. 3. Under the 'Streaming Settings' in Output tab, make sure the 'Twitch VOD track' box is checked. (Click on the circle for 2 in that same line of text.) 4. That Video Encoder setting that I have selected is "NVIDIA NVENC H.264(Deprecated). 5. In your Scenes box, add a new scene for whatever you'd be using for music. (I named it Audio Control.) 6. With your new scene selected, go over to your source box and add an "Application Audio Capture (BETA)"; Name it whatever so you know what it is. Mine is TH-cam. 7. Since I use TH-cam for this, I have my Window set to my browser choice and a specific page. Have whatever you want up to use so you can select it for the window. Mine is- Window [brave.exe]: Electric Callboy - HYPA HYPA -TH-cam - Brave. 8. Choose whichever 'Window Match Priority' fits you best. I have "Match Title, otherwise find window of same type' so nothing else is heard. 9. That source you created will now be under your "Audio Mixer". (Mine shows as TH-cam.) Click on the 3 dots for that source and go to Advanced Audio Properties. 10. After opening that, find that named source, have the Audio Monitoring set to "Off" and make sure that track 2 is NOT selected. That will ensure whatever you play off of that source will *not* go to your Twitch Vod. If you close that page (idk if it's the same for an application like Spotify) after you stream, go to stream again and open up a new page of different music, you'll need to go to that specific audio source properties and change the Window to match whatever you'd be playing from. Of course you'll have to adjust the volume and whatnot. I hope that helps! It really will save you the pain from having to edit copyright music out.
It seemed like he was considering lower stream time to be a negative. Thats like your work hours, if you make the money from lower work hours thats a good thing right? If you divide it out and comparing 2020 (Cause I think 2021 is a bit of an aberration.) they are much more even, except as TH-cam compounds it surpasses Twitch for dollars made per hour. (Also if you divide it down... dear god thats so much money. You dont quite realize just how insanely wealthy someone is until you do this kind of thing, like its hard to wrap your head around just how much a million is; I know Im working class, and not exactly high on the ladder, but he earns roughly what I do in a week in a single hour...)
I think he felt pressured to stream something eye catching and 'clickable' every time on youtube so that the algorithm actually promotes the stream. He said there were times he couldn't come up with something that would be interesting enough, so maybe he feels like he's restricted by the algorithm on YT and prefers to just be able to go live and play games, which always gets viewers on Twitch.
i respect how you revealed the numbers and broke them down for us. it's really nice to see this level of honesty from a content creator. props to you ludwig
You have probably looked into it, but just in case you should look into how people like GassyMexican that have been growing on both platforms for years deal with the multistreaming. What he does basically is start stream on twitch for the prestream and getting the game ready and stuff and starts the TH-cam stream right when the game is about to start, if he is switching games mid stream he would end the youtube stream to get a clean VOD for the first game, prep the next game and start a new youtube stream when he is ready to play the next game and so on. It seems to be working really well and as a viewer that mainly consumes VODs rather than streams its been a really good watching experience for me
i love how open ludwig is with how much money he makes, he knows that hes rich and doesnt want to give some air of mysteria around it. other people hate showing how much money that they make from a video but he just doesnt care, he shows it all for the statistics of it.
100% agree with the VODs not being accessible when they are 12 hours or more, especially since the entire stream is scrapped rather than just a portion.
My problem with Twitch is that they don’t have apps on all devices like TH-cam does; I can’t watch Twitch on the Roku or Switch. I do prefer Twitch chat tho, so I love Multi streams. I open the stream on the TV on TH-cam and chat on Twitch on my phone
ty for streaming on youtube again. watching streams is like "backup" content for me, when i run out of normal videos, so i never really think to check twitch on the off-chance the 1 or 2 streamers i like are going. and even when i do, not being able to rewind and get the full experience just feels bad. i usually don't want to drop in halfway to a stream, i want to watch it from the beginning. so these youtube streams were always perfect for me--displayed right at the top of my youtube feed, ready to be watched from the start. and with the premiere/scheduling thing, sometimes i actually got to watch live, which felt cool. anyway, ty again, missed having these streams available!
hello lubwin! i really like the idea of multi-streaming. as a youtube frog who has grown very accustomed to checking your channel for new lives, i think streaming on both is a great solution. i also don’t often get to catch lives, so youtube vods make it easier to catch up. i also never liked youtube chat, so getting to see twitch chat while watching on my preferred platform is perfect. i’ll stay as a happy youtube frog, best on twitch!!
this is so good! all my favourite streamers came to youtube which was amazing for me as timezones make twitch streams really difficult for me to watch live every time. but now theyve gone back to twitch and despite saying they would multistream it has not happened. So basically, i dont watch them anymore, which im really sad about but as an adult with a career i cant be up till 4am trying to watch streams on twitch anymore. Long way to say, cant wait to continue tuning into your streams as always lud, thanks!
Thanks for explaining everything. That was lowkey a great streaming guide. One thing tho, about only using Twitch Chat, I wonder if that works for smaller creators as well or if we have to farm every engagement across all platform to increase our reach and growth.
In absolute support of this decision. My problem is that when I want to watch on TH-cam, for some reason ads are popping up like 3 ads at once every 2 minutes. It really sucks as a yt watcher, granted it does force me to move to twitch which I suppose Lud does prioritize, but it makes the watching experience worse when I am forced to do that out have necessity to understand what’s going on in the stream.
Been watching on TH-cam since the beginning. I don’t mind the return to twitch. Having a TH-cam multistream is great as a resource if I want to rewind a couple seconds for anything like hearing again

Also, he's just rich now and doesn't need to stream to survive. He's very well off compared to what he was in 2019
$900/hr oh my fucking god i wannna kms knowing i earn $2/hr at my stressful office job lol
Yeah. Made half, but streamed half the time. Imagine that lmao
I was thinking the same thing
The fact that he doesn't have different tiers also doesn't help, but well that's on him
and the hours don't match either
We all knew this was clickbait, we just wanted to know what was worthy of such a title
true
Not even for a second did I think I'd never see him on this platform again
He lied, he’s not live rn. 14:17
Twitch year1: 780 usd /hour
Twitch year2: 1143 usd/hour
Twitch year2: 780.15 usd /hour (not counting subathon)
TH-cam y1: 600 usd/hour
TH-cam y2: 619 usd/hour
TH-cam y3: 881.46 usd/hour
Dude is already making more money per hour in TH-cam. And the tendency is that the rate is growing.
I thought canadian schools were better man lmao
Yeah thought the same lol
100% agreed with the VOD's not being accessible when they're 12hrs+, especially since the entire stream is scrapped and not just a portion
It's annoying, we had to keep reminding some of the Jingle Jam participants in December that were doing marathons that they needed to end their streams before 12 strikes
Ludwig please understand “quitting” in TH-cam has scarred us.
How gullible can u be
@@jeremiahguerrero1217 it isn't about being gullible, the title literally asked for that reaction. While we know it is most likely not true, there's a huge amount of people that clicked just to hear the first few words on the video to make sure

So basically it "helps you cancel" your subscriptions. They never said they'll cancel it for you.

I think disabling TH-cam chat is kinda dumb. Ive never been a twitch watcher but I became a member as soon as you switched. If you disable chat you're removing most of the benefits, you dont have to pay attention to it but people can still talk to eachother.
yeah just a pinned message every stream saying he would ignore it would work. i think a chill small community would build up on youtube
Yes, came here to say this too
This is what I am super concerned about- i really don’t like twitch as a platform and it kills me knowing that i can’t show love here on YT thru chat even if he doesn’t care about it lol. bro did all this analyzing just to conclude that combining the revenue from both platforms would be the most profitable 💀
I don't know much about streaming but I do know about data. Isn't your data a very biased towards Twitch regardless?
- There was a quarantine which made people watch streams more in 2020 and 202. (And subathon as you mentioned)
- You have double the streaming hours on Twitch and double the revenue, which would make sense no?
It is true you have less viewers though, but still, there's that quarantine bias imo
I do feel like with the passive income that comes from vods on youtube, he would eventually make more on YT.
I mean it's the best of both worlds now so we chilling
yes but you should also consider why the he streamed less on youtube which he mentioned and the fact that its hard for viewers to find his streams in the first place
He also had cheaper memberships / subs on TH-cam ($1) compared to Twitch ($5) for 2 of those years.
@@GCOSBenbowexcept he ignore TH-cam chat. What’s the point anymore? Why watch a streamer that ignores his fans

Tis life sadly
So brother made 831K streaming 4 hours a day, 5 days a week in 2024. That's insane, he litteraly brings negative value to society.

You need another column on this table to get the full picture I think. Revenue per hour streamed. Which I did for you.
2020: $636/hr
2021: $1143/hr
2022: $600.5/hr
2023: $619.8/hr
2024: $881.5/hr
Wish there was a way to account for the outlier month in 2021 but I don't have a way of doing that to get an accurate picture for the year, and it'd probably be hassle for Ludwig to actually go and figure out himself.
That said, on an hourly basis, there's no significant loss in terms of revenue on TH-cam vs Twitch from 2020 to 2024
Why is Logan Paul mentiond in the description?
Don’t do that again. Thanks.
guys “Zou-Pow” said not to do it again so we better listen! shiver me timbers
I’m significantly more disappointed in myself for thinking you were honest than for you scamming me
Just wanted to say with yt streaming for the past couple of days it’s been nice but tbh I miss yt chat.
I think you should only actually read/interact with twitch chat but by completely ignoring but still having mods on youtube chat you can establish its own small community without the toxicity of begging for streamer attention. one of my favorite stream experiences is in lilaggy’s youtube chat where he does this exact system and that youtube chat is one of my favorite experiences on the internet, still enjoying the stream but actually chatting instead of only spamming emotes (no hate to spamming emotes)
appreciate the transparency of this video lud! Starting to stream on twitch so this is cool info to receive
How is it hard to find streams on youube? Maybe for random streams, but if you're subbed to someone, their stream literally shows up at the top of your subbox. That has nothing to do with algorithms.
Yeah but he wants to keep growing so his whole point is for new people to see it. But also a lot of people including myself never check my sub box lol
I was relieved when I heard Ludwig‘s TH-camr voice
I relived myself after hearing ludwigs TH-camr voice
the metrics here were genuinely really interesting! I found you initially due to the mogul mail business side twitch information
What's interesting is that I favor TH-cam streaming for the way it operates versus Twitch.
Tight, 1-3 hour streams, that focus on a single idea. It's how I like to create my streams, so this is cool to see. YT it is for me.
4:18 honestly SMOOTHEST transition ive ever seen, props lud 🥱🥱
i still dont know why he was so against multistreaming in the first place
He has explained it so many times if you still don’t get it then you just refuse his answers 😂
@@4pursyeah because they're dumb and that's why he gave up on them
Wouldn't it also be worth noting that on twitch subscribing is $5 and your memberships a dollar. I'd assume this heavily affected the number as well.
Curated VOD channels are the best. I'm a big fan of creators like LilAggy who on his vod channel clips out all the unecessary talking to chat before doing the actual content. Starting the VOD with summarizing for example his current Elden Ring challenge run rules and jumping right into it.
Thank you for the information Ludwig sir
I started watching you on a YT livestream in 2022, and you quickly became one of my favorite TH-camrs.
*Summary of the video* : Lud finally listens to everyone and realizes streaming on more platforms means more money and preferred ways to watch
Ludwig has the most consistent clickbait in the game and it works everytime
Guys I figured out what happened during Ludwig’s four days before posting this, he joined squid games and won, think about it, he dyed his hair red like in the series, and is now quitting streaming because he wants to find the recruiter. THINK ABOUT IT!!!
4:19 so nice of James "big A" to hook small streamers up with sponsors to help get them throug the month
I feel swindled and cheated with this title.

If you want to try it, there's videos but if you just want some steps, here you go:
1. In OBS, go to settings --> Output.
2. Change Output mode to Advanced.
3. Under the 'Streaming Settings' in Output tab, make sure the 'Twitch VOD track' box is checked. (Click on the circle for 2 in that same line of text.)
4. That Video Encoder setting that I have selected is "NVIDIA NVENC H.264(Deprecated).
5. In your Scenes box, add a new scene for whatever you'd be using for music. (I named it Audio Control.)
Bro made more money in 2022 than all of my family tree's net worth, and it's not even his best year 😭

Multi streaming is just a win for everyone. Glad you're doing it!
12:39 Literally watched a video of you saying, “TH-cam chat is so much nicer than Twitch chat!” Lol
ok it was nice knowing you Lud. I'm happy my one year membership here meant nothing.
hold on lemme make one last use of my membership benefits before i cancel it on here
Id rather just know what the video is about with the title rather than skip around, not knowing what its about and ultimately losing interest
Pouring one out for TH-cam chat
I wanted to see red hair, why is this vanilla ludwig? I wanted a red headed ludwig video
i respect how you revealed the numbers and broke them down for us. it's really nice to see this level of honesty from a content creator. props to you ludwig

So glad Lud came around to multistreaming, the TH-cam player is so much better for someone who liked to rewind a lot.
Ludwig finally realizes no one goes to his vod channel and just watches it on the live tab
Gave me a heart attack 😭
bro agreed to clickbaiting
youtube chatters alwayys getting the short end of the stick.
also twitch chat is cringe
why can't we have shared custody between the chats like we're non-friendly divorced parents?🥲

My Barnes and Noble does in fact have a revolving door
this is so true, twitch is open in my 2nd monitor, in background. YT is always in first. But that also means ads on yt give more money than on twitch
hello lubwin! i really like the idea of multi-streaming. as a youtube frog who has grown very accustomed to checking your channel for new lives, i think streaming on both is a great solution. i also don’t often get to catch lives, so youtube vods make it easier to catch up. i also never liked youtube chat, so getting to see twitch chat while watching on my preferred platform is perfect. i’ll stay as a happy youtube frog, best on twitch!!
Honestly, respect the transparency and very interesting to see the data. This is like a class in streaming on its own. Thanks.

this is so good! all my favourite streamers came to youtube which was amazing for me as timezones make twitch streams really difficult for me to watch live every time.
but now theyve gone back to twitch and despite saying they would multistream it has not happened.
