Dani was a youtuber who did devlogs and tutorials for games, I followed him for a long time and was so surprised his game went viral. He was a small time creator and blew up. It's was pretty shocking to see so many people talk about Dani's games I was like "wtf you know about crab game and muk??"

As soon as you play Animal Well for a couple of hours you'll recognize that it's one of the best metroid-vania puzzle platformers of the last few years, no exaggeration there. All the secrets, endings and secret endings are just mind-boggling. Of course only if you're into these kinds of games, it's highly subjective. But independent of that and to give one point of objective rating here, the environmental storytelling through game mechanics is very well thought out.
I have played well over 100 puzzle games, which is a somewhat decent amount, and Animal Well was definetly one of the best ones, it's really incredible, definetly in my top5 of this genre.

@ Hmmmm, majority of the game is relatively easy, but then when you want to go for the secret ending... Finding the rabbits, missed eggs, figuring out the whole thing with the secret map etc etc... It's really hard, probably around the level of endgame in Baba is You for me.

One thing I find really cool about Animal Well is that it has an entire ARG build into the game that was only discovered by the legitimate means because the game has a built in system to prevent cheating letting you skip the puzzle.

Well, a visual novel has to compete with reading a pdf document in terms of excitement and gameplay, so it's understandable.

@@myhvKun It mostly comes down to the music and visuals outside of dialogue - that's why DDLC is popular on youtube cause even if you skip through the hanging scene it will catch you off guard and it happens only about an hour in where most take a few to develop characters before. Althoug voice acting and mini games (like Little Busters! or Summer Pockets) help for casual players or fans of the genre but still take to long to get a Sayuri jumpscare for a youtube reaction (despite the fact that something like Clannad's ending would be better for reactions but the games to long and slow). You need patience for VNs and then 9 times out of 10 I've been rewarded with a 10/10 story for finishing them after 80 hours.

Enigma of fear is sooo good, the visuals are so beautiful, and the story of each npc is so amazing
Animal Well at A is extraordinarily criminal.
For what he defined each rank as, A makes perfect sense. Animal Well is great, but it’s not for everyone. So it’s harder to recommend it compared to something with more general appeal like PlateUp.

while i agree and think animal well was one of if not the best game of 2024 it requires a lot more than just 20 mins of gameplay. lud explained his reasoning pretty well, although i do hope that he actually does come back and play through all of it because it really is so fun

Enigma of Fear is actually part of an expanded universe from Cellbit's RPG, so it may feel a bit off when going straight to the game, but it's definitely worth a try if y'all like puzzles, thriller and stuff. Definitely A+

Ngl, only PlateUp and Crab Games seemed any fun to me. But because of the large lobby size I would never bother playing Crab Games myself, but was entertaining to watch for a while.
Get To Work and Furious Fish seem like fun time killers, and Heartbound and Animal Well seem interesting to play through. And honestly I'm not too jaded on the type of humor Dream Daddy is using, and it isn't a particularly egregious example of it, so I could also see myself having fun with that
Animal Well is the only one of these games I’ve played and it’s a top tier game, 100% ambience and vibes with great movement and puzzles
