Welcome to Singapore. It’s lovely to see you enjoying our local delicacies! There’s something so special about the flavours here, and it’s wonderful to know you’re getting a true taste of what makes our cuisine unique.
Top tip: get a chilled canned drink from the drink stall and pop it in your bag before grabbing your food. That way you’ll have a beverage with your meal even if you’re alone and can’t leave your food unattended to get to a drink stall.
Kudos to you, Chase! You are amazing! Even most of us local chinese would hesitate about eating so many dumplings in a meal. 😂 The western food stall you passed by (Tasty Barbecue) is a heritage stall with decades of reputation. Their signature sauce (Hainanese sauce) is unique and delicious. The price is higher than common stalls but the meat portion is HUMONGOUS. Worth a try, if you happen to be passing by again. Good choice on the drink. Locally, the yakult infused drinks are nice and you will not go wrong with any of the flavours. Signature ABC (Apple+Beetroot+Carrot) is another nice flavour you can try locally. Cheers to your solo food escapades ahead! 😂
Nice work buddy! I really resonated with that video as I ate the EXACT same meal from the EXACT same hawker 3 weeks ago! So sad to leave Singapore. I also tried the chilli crab at the stall right next to the entry by the bus station.....what a mission to eat, never mind trying to video 😲
Another great video Chase. Singapore is on my bucket list. Love to hit up the hawker centres. Have you guys noticed whether there are many vegetarian dishes available at the hawker centres? Keep it up Chase, I love the content on both channels. You guys are awesome.
It is such an amazing place 🥰 You will love it. We didn’t keep are eye out for veg options but geniegal78’s comment looks helpful ❤️ Thanks for watching 🙏🙏
on average each hawker has about 1 if not 2 max stalls selling vegetarian food. but they're just the typical fried bee hoon, noodles, and lots of starchy mock meats, vegetables....
The Buddha tooth relic temple has a hidden vegetarian food court in its basement. Walk around the temple to find a signboard directing u to go down to the food court of vegetarian foods in different cuisines
And yes, stalls have varying opening hours. Some sell more breakfasty-lunchy stuff so they do mornings and afternoons. Others lunch + dinner. Some are all day. Really depends on the individual proprietor. Google will tell you their opening hours and if they are closed or open and it’s pretty accurate.
Welcome to Singapore! Not sure if you have time but maybe you can pay a visit to the hawker right beside Maxwell which is called Chinatown Complex Market & Food Centre! The food there is even cheaper than Maxwell.
Maxwell is a tourist food centre. It used to be a good place to go, until the tourists took over. You want absolutely local, then try going to Bedok or Whampoa, Jurong or Changi. City centre is always for the tourists.
They ban selling and purchasing of gums,They just want control the large consumption of gums to prevent people spitting and sticking of gums everywhere mostly I think
My friends will buy chewing gum from overseas to distribute. Recently I received some from Japan from a friend who travelled there. 😂 If we cross the border we can get tons of chewing gums. 😅
@@TheChaseMathesonIt isn’t strange. U can have the right to chew gum. U can’t buy it because it’s not on sale (except those type with medical benefits). Hence, it’s a ban on sale and purchase in Singapore. The objective is to save costs and labour in having to clean up (eg., people who dispose off the chewed gum inappropriately). I, as a Singaporean, applaud this ban. No great loss.
that 22 dollar store is china food. not local. they've been "invading" since about 2018. they are overpriced crap. mostly similar food as local yong tau fu. idk why locals are paying these stores so much but complain about few cents increase in local stores. so frustrating.
Impressed by the way you hold chopsticks. That is the right way and perfect. :)
Thank you 🙏🙏
Wow. No tourist will attack the dumplings like u. 🎉🎉
Is that a good or a bad thing 😆😉
@ Definitely a great thing! Looking forward for more foodie. Glad that u are loving Chinese / Asian food.

There are vegetarian options at the hawker centres but not alot. More vegan options for restaurants & cafes though.

You walked past the Hum Jin Pang stall. It is only $1 for a bag of 5 pieces. You can choose sweet or salty or mix. You should try it.
Oh, that sounds delicious 😋

Thanks for the recommendation 🙏
😋👍👍👍
10:09 Last time you can just leave your tray on the table and the cleaner will come around with a trolley
You can chew gum just can’t sell them 😅
I will say, it’s strange they have signs telling you not to table litter. If your allowed to leave your tray 😅😅

So strange 😆 You can’t buy it but you can chew it 😂
