And now we're at the final stage. Just like games before the stage itself doesn't offer much. It's ultimately just a small handful of enemies before the mid and final boss.
Sanae puts up a surprising challenge as a mid-boss. Both of her spells has her firing a tightly packed mess of bullets that can get very difficult to dodge if you take her lightly.
Iesua is also surprising, but that's because of how strangely easy she is to defeat. Merciful god indeed in that case but really outside of two spells her attacks aren't that bad.
(And I say this from my playthroughs that WEREN'T slowed down this bad. Before it was only the cool down's that dropped the frame rate now it's most of the damn fight.)

That would be very fitting. Or perhaps, one called "Salvation: Heaven's Triumph"?
The harder modes have some spellcards that are a little more serious. The first one with the fish becomes Great Fish "To he who would go into deep water", which is a reference to Luke 5:4. The one that replaces the water to wine spellcard is called Lineage Sign "Bloodline of Emmanuel". The walking on water one becomes Realization "Behold, I am coming soon", taken from the book of Revelations (22 : 12). Lunatic adds one spellcard called "Eli Eli Lama Sabachtani" (AKA Lord, why have you forsaken me?) that did some good imagery simulating the earthquake and solar eclipse that took place when Jesus died. The last spellcard becomes "Those who appear at the end of the world". The only Iesua spellcard that doesn't change is Great Miracle "Resurrection of the Dead".
I love how even Iesua was just so done when it was revealed that the accident was caused by dumb resemblances and coincidences.
Also, the callback to Rumia with 'humanity started using the decimal system' is 10/10 would get crucified again.
Marisa trolling Jesus was probably the best part of the whole game. Also, where did Jesus learn danmaku?
Probably the same way Sumireko learned danmaku when she entered Gensokyo the first time

So this game goes from a falling star mystery to questioning the beliefs of Christianity to the point where the final boss is Jesus. ...I'm surprised and impressed.
I'm pretty sure the slowdown from the nonspells is at least partially on purpose. You're on Normal and that isn't actually a whole lot of bullets.
I love how this massive inter-theological clusterfuck was caused by a stage 1 joke boss.
Nah, that slowdown is a pretty common issue among ido games (look up any run and you'll see the same problems). Ido games are good, but terribly unoptimized, so if there's a lot (and I'm pretty generous with "a lot" of bullets on screen it'll lag BADLY (to say nothing of the additional lag if you're say... RECORDING)
Part of it was the computer though (though I never had lag issues before) but I actually needed to upgrade my computer to make a proper run of the sequel Mystical Power Plant.
Fair enough. Just seems weird because at least for the first couple nonspells that's nowhere near as many bullets as the surrounding spellcards, and those bullets don't look particularly visually complex.
Sheesh... A bible gets stolen in Gensokyo and all hell breaks loose. Then again, crazier stuff has started for less.

Uh... wait. I'm a little lost on the story. I thought this whole thing was caused because Mikaboshi fled to Gensokyou. But it was actually caused by the sheep girl? XD
+Lulu Mew Pretty much. From what I gather The Book of Revelations fell into Gensokyo and Marry took it and broke the seal on it... causing said disaster by making it so Mumumu and all the angels shown up to duke it out with each other.
That.... actually clears a lot of this up... it's confusing, and yet it still makes more sense than what Kanako tried to pull off in Touhou 11 with that industrial revolution in Gensokyou bullshit XD
i wish you could have shown more of the endings in your future videos cause anyone else who plays this game and posts it on youtube doesnt even use the english patch >.
Ah yes, this stage, when i played this game years ago every single bullet and enemy before moe jesus was invisible
It was MS all over again with Shinki invisible cheetos attack but up to eleven
1ccing it was impossible due to that, even with bomb spamming :(
Can someone help me? TLC worked for me before but know it keeps on crashing when the stage 1 boss comes :( it always says that it's missing something
DogePie Pie Try running the game through applocale. It sounds like the game's crashing as soon as the dialogue comes up and that's a common reason Japanese games crash.

It's a nightmare.
So, just got this game, and playing on lunatic it's a lot of fun! (though I dislike the fact you can't get extra lives after continuing)
But how do I unlock the stages for practice? I've cleared twice now (with continues because skills? me? nope.avi) but not even stage 1 unlocked on lunatic :V
MoTK hasn't come back with an answer yet.
I CAN 1cc lunatic, I know it, but if I can't practice the stages I'll dedicate my time to other games.
On the otherhand, outside of her survival + the two attacks you listed even on lunatic Iesua is really easy :P
+Ori Sorry, I don't know what to tell you for stage practice. Maybe your games glitched out or you do need to beat the stage without continuing (If so I'd just bomb through the stage once so you can freely practice it)
Personally I didn't worry about stage practice since this game had spell practice.Spell Cards were the only parts that gave me trouble so that's the only bit I concerned myself with.

So, one of the shot types had practice mode unlocked for easy, hard and lunatic - Needles Reimu.
No spell practice, unfortunately.
It's silly - you start with 2 lives and 3 bombs and you can't get any more resources outside of stage 6 bomb drop, and stage 3/5 life drops.
Made clearing stage 4 on practice mode quite the challenge... and probably stage 5 too, but did much better then usual against Michel and cleared first try :P
On lunatic, the stages can be quite evil...
Stage 4 and 6 especially.
The only reason stage 4 took longer to clear on practice mode lunatic then 5 and 6 - stage 5 has the hardest boss IMO but you get an extra life and the stage has long stretches of trivial bits (though the midboss nonspell is complete bullshit) while stage 6 has a hard stage portion but Iesua is really, really easy for a final boss.
Mumumu is easier then Michel but her stage is much harder and you don't get any extra resources - I cleared practice mode eventually, but with no lives/bombs.
I suppose I'll probably use Needles Reimu for my planned lunatic 1cc then - you get a lot of lives (11) and I theoretically need 2-3 lives for stage 4, 2-3 lives for stage 6, 3-4 lives for stage 5 - It's not forgiving but I feel I can do it.
I just need to get better at early game :P
Also, you get much less slowdown on her nonspells in practice mode - the only one that slows down for me in practice mode much is the last one.
They still are really slowed down in story mode though, because reasons.
EDIT: stage 3 is really stupid without Sakuya.
Stage 2 to an extent, but much less.
Stage 3 is the hardest stage portion without Sakuya, not stage 4. (Stage 4 remains hardest stage portion with her)

Iesua got affected from chuunibyou and now she pretends to be Jesus, case solved.
